Built in 1880, The Inn was at one time a brothel, until it was raided by federal officers. The Inn was a favorite site of cowboys and teamsters, who appreciated the fine foods and jovial atmosphere.Over 100 years later, the Inn at Tres Pinos is now a San Benito County Historical Landmark, carefully restored by owner, Mike Howard. The ambiance is intimate, rustic, and elegant. It’s country with a touch of class, and decorated in a style that is a reflection of Mike’s personal interest. Mike's grandfather taught him the the art of fly-fishing, and every year the family still fishes together at the Big Wood River in Sun Valley, Idaho. Mike married Mary along the Big Wood River in 2010, and the Inn has become a true family affair. Mike’s philosophy is “Keep it fresh and keep it simple.” His staff is personally hand picked and will make every effort to meet your expectations. The Inn at Tres Pinos is the only four-star restaurant in San Benito Country.

Fantastic experience at Il Cortile. Service was excellent and the food was to die for. We sat at the bar while we waited for our table and the bartender was very patient with us— we asked to taste a couple of wines while I debated between wine and an espresso martini (I chose the wine for pairing purposes, plus I didn’t want to be up all night). We were unsure if we just picked the best things on the menu, or if everything from that kitchen was just that good. Do not miss the crostini, the sweet corn pasta, and if it’s on special, the osso bucco. After our meal, the bartender walked over to our table to check in with us and see if we wanted a *decaf* espresso martini… what a thoughtful effort that went above and beyond. Of course we indulged, and walked away incredibly impressed with this lovely dining experience.

Our waiter (wish I could remember her name) was very professional. Food excellent as always. The only drawback was that I forgot to take my box of remaining pizza that I left on the table!

Made reservations for our 42nd anniversary on Open Table. Made a comment that I would like to have two glasses of champagne and a window seat as soon as we were seated. When we arrived, the check in hostess greeted us with "Happy Anniversary". We were seated immediately by a waiter "in training" and he said "Happy Anniversary" as well. Within 2 minutes the champagne was delivered, and we were again given a "Happy Anniversary" wish. The braised Short Rib and seared Pacific Halibut were excellent! This is not our first time at Pacific's Edge (maybe 13 times over 16 years). We have had both excellent service and food and sub-par service and food. We keep going back because the view is phenomenal. This year, Pacific's Edge hit it out of the ballpark for service and food. The first two glasses of champagne (actually Prosecco) were complimentary.

This was my 1st visit and it won't be my last. I travel solo, so many restaurants that are high end make it difficult to make a reservation for only one person, not this place. When I arrived, I was greeted warmly and made to feel most welcome. The service/waiter was attentive, friendly and kind. The food, after tasting each course, was beyond perfect and delicious, it was as if I've never tasted food before going here and then suddenly POW a blast of delicious flavor, perfectly seasoned, perfect portions and beautifully arranged dishes, I am still in awe of this dining experience. The chef was kind and sent out compliments of the chef a delicious vegan soup. I can't say enough positive words about the food, service and of course the beautiful views/atmosphere. I know this will be my new to go to place for dining whenever I visit Big Sur for now on.
