Great space, staff is welcoming and efficient, the food was fantastic and the prices were more than fair for the quality. The cocktails were excellent, with all liquor distilled by Founding Farmers nearby. Highly recommend the steak frites (not a traditional steak, very thin but tender and delicious), the shrimp and grits and the prosciutto farm bread.

My rating is based on this most recent trip. The restaurant is a hometown favorite for the locals and a must visit for travelers. My rating on value is only 'fair', because that is exactly what it is. You won't find a bargain-basement blue-plate special here. What you will find is fine ingredients very well prepared and a price-point that reflects that. You are paying for what you are getting. You start by walking into their storefront and seeing a woman in the window making homemade pasta. The restaurant is downstairs and I'm not sure if they have an elevator. Call to check first if you are mobility limited. I can also tell you that it is CROWDED! They have a HUGE following and you need to book weeks in advance. The noise level is high, but not so high that it will ruin your meal. Once seated, you will have a number of people assisting you, but your server is your main point of contact. From this point on, the remainder of this review is what you would expect from a high end restaurant. A considerable wine selection, ample appetizer and entree selections, attentive service and a dessert list that should satisfy just about anyone. The shrimp and lobster ravioli was sublime. The Veal Saltimbocca was finished perfectly. They finish off the meal with a complimentary cordial (for those of legal drinking age) if you're interested. All-in-all, a top-notch experience that everyone who enjoys a fine meal should try

We had the cookbook tasting menu. There is a good selection. A bit pricey. The food tasted great. At times the bussers were a bit too attentive; clearing too quickly. Our server started off a bit lacklustre but warmed up towards the second half of our meal. We also ordered a cocktail. It was nice and strong. I would come back if I’m in the DC area again.

We sat in the Grant Room and BK was our waiter. We started with a peach bourbon sangria, which was wonderful. We shared a dozen assorted Potomac oysters, which were like silk. My husband enjoyed his huge crabcake and my meatloaf did not disappoint. Portions were very generous & prices were reasonable. We enjoyed walking around the restaurant and viewing the gas chandeliers, oyster bar, and main bar – it’s a beautiful restaurant.
