My sis and I were lucky enough to snag an end-of-day reservation at Lafayette Tavern on a Monday, and it did not disappoint! The ambiance is incredible, the design team really went all-in on making sure this place felt like a classic restaurant; the place looked like it had been preserved since the 1940s. The food and drinks were high quality as well. The Singapore Sling tasted as good as the one I had while vacationing there, the beef tartare was prepared in a way I was not expecting but it was tasty, and the pasta we got was excellent--go for the slab bacon on the carbonara, you will not regret that choice! The one thing we noted that could be a downside was how loud the place was; it was pretty full when we got there and we had to lean in to speak to each other. I would definitely go back for another special night out, though!

The service was great, the burrata salad was amazing, and the atmosphere is cozy.

Perfect date spot. We were seated quickly. My lady loved eating her first oysters. Tim was attentive and knowledgeable. I even jokingly convinced Tom to take a picture of us out on the beautiful patio overlooking the Appomattox & James River. We will definitely to eat, but also when it’s cooler, we plan to go for drinks out on the patio at the end of the bar top.

Friendly staff and wonderful food. Will definitely go back. 

The shrimp and grits were amazing! The grits were smooth and creamy, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly.
