"This was our second visit to 1799 at The Clifton, and will not be our last! The escargot with bone marrow was the highlight of my meal, although the duck was spectacular as well! But I was not expecting the escargot to be presented like this. It was amazing, and delicious! I highly recommend it. I also had the Laguvulin 8 Single Malt Scotch that was great but not as fantastic as the Lagavulin 16. For the money, all the way around, the meal was one of the best we've had in Charlottesville area dining. One of the best part . . . no kids. Sorry, but whenever my wife and I dine out, the last thing we want to see is kids. Especially if they are loud and unruly. Not a place for kids anyway."See more
"Bill Curtis's Tastings is the best place to drink wine in Charlottesville. If you're a wine geek, just tell Bill what you like, and you will be amazed at what he comes up with. If you're a wine beginner, he will walk you through many choices to help you figure out what you like.
The cuisine is uneven -- sometimes OK, sometimes great. We particularly like the morels in puff pastry, which are usually super, but last time, they were too winey. But...come here for the wine, rather than the food!"See more
"It was an enjoyable meal, but I feel like the menu could be more innovative For a place that labels it self “farm to table”
Overall it was a very pleasurable experience and a good value for the price."See more
"My husband and I totally enjoyed our evening meal at Fleurie. The meal was excellent and our French waiter was... Oh la la...superbe. The drinks he prepared for us was perfect as well as his guidance toward the best wine to drink. We also enjoyed his friendly demeanor.
A most wonderful evening.
PS: In case this note reaches our waiter please tell him that the meal was according to Dennis "vachement bon!""See more
