The menu follows a Southern-fried meat-and-three concept, meaning diners order a meat, plus three sides. Those will include Ruthie’s mac and cheese, of course, but also white-soy-braised greens, stewed chickpeas and smoked cauliflower with a spicy soy glaze. “We’re going to be changing it a lot based on seasonality,” Hill says of the menu. “ Every vegetable has got to be fantastic because it has to stand on its own.” One thing that will help that: Hill is already growing all of the restaurant’s own herbs at his South Arlington community garden plot.

Great brunch spot that exceeded expectations. There aren’t a ton of upscale brunch spots in the areas and I’m pretty hard to please. Ruthie’s has just as good if not better food than all the solid rusty spoon diners around with a much better ambiance and excellent service. Highly recommend it!

Make reservations. Food was outstanding. Must try their cornbread. Everything we ordered was wonderful. My husband had strip steak and he complemented the chef… also love their desserts. We were so full but ordered and took home. This is third time going in DC and will always go back !

5 star classic old school Italian fine dining restaurant. Nothing is short of excellent. The food, service, management and ambience all 5 stars! As a restaurant owner, myself, It is rare that I am wowed. We do not live in the area but my daughter loves it so much that she’ll plan shopping trips in the greater DC area just so she can go there. They are not a small restaurant but they’re definitely not a large, either. I recommend that you make reservations and you make them way ahead of time. We had an early reservation on a Friday night, 9/13/24. Unfortunately, we were stuck in traffic and delayed for over an hour. I called the restaurant. They were very nice and accommodating and held our reservation despite the fact that they were jampacked. From start to finish all 5 Stars! *The AGM is from Richmond VA. Please see that he sees this review and knows wow appreciative we are.

Had a wonderful dinner at Old Ebbitt grill while visiting Washington DC. The location near the White house was convenient and the place was very busy. The waitress was very attentive and suggested some options. The meatloaf was excellent with a brown mushroom gravy on top. Dessert was Creme Brulee' and delicious. My only complaint was the noise level was loud and it was a bit hard to talk with our guests. Overall, I'd go there again.
