"We completely enjoyed our dinner experience here and will come back when in DC. We have seen some reviews that were either unhappy with the pasta portions or suggested it was a quiet evening dinner location. The smaller pasta portions are there because this is a high end restaurant and the pasta is considered to be a course you get before the main course of meat, fish, etc. The pasta dishes were excellent - very nice sauces with distinct flavors and the pasta made fresh at Bibiana, and yes they were not overwhelming in size, but instead sized consistent with a course between the antipasti and the secondi. We also had the formaggi/salumi antipasti where you pick your cheeses and salamis for an appetizer. Simply fantastic. The fresh bread basket came with several varieties, all very good. The deserts were excellent as well. We chose a Bolgheri red wine, a smaller region just west of Tuscany but known for superb wines. Normally Bohgheri's cost over $100 per bottle in the states. This one was well below that and nevertheless was exemplary of a high quality old world vintage and our best wine (but not the most expensive) during our week-long visit to DC. It was truly an unusual welcome to be able to enjoy such a splendid wine at such a price. We were very impressed with the service, they watched and knew when they were needed but not overbearing, as good waiters should be. The host that set us came by twice to make sure everything was going well, as did the manager. All of the staff were very friendly and added to the enjoyable experience. It was a Friday night and all of the tables in our room were filled, adding to a vibrant atmosphere, not 'quiet' as some reviewers have suggested. We could tell everyone was enjoying the evening as much as we were - great food, service, and drinks will do that every time. Bibiana is everything a top rated italian restaurant should be."See more
