Bida Manda is a set of Sanskrit ceremonial terms for father and mother. We named our restaurant to honor our parents in Laos, who passed down their love of food and the belief in its power to bring people together.Lao cuisine, shaped by the lush landscape, a spirit of generosity, and a French colonial past, is deeply connected to nature and memory. Our menu is inspired by our family’s recipes—an extension of home and a love letter to our parents.A few notes for your visit: Reservations are highly recommended, but our bar is first come, first served. We offer a 15-minute grace period—please call if you're running late, and we'll do our best to accommodate you.Thank you for being here. We can’t wait to welcome you.

The FOOD is extraordinary. I am not vegan, but we have now visited a second time FDR on out of town within three months. That’s pretty good, I’d say. With tip, we broke $200 easily. The Tuscan artichoke dish was too spicy. But, onion rings!!!! Hot damn! And, chix sand and Filly cheezstak and shroom hoagie were stellar! Peanut butter pie and apple pie with ice cream were priced high, but I swam in double the sea of tranquility and delight! Three words: DEE LISH US!!! While our waitress was more than a bit absentee for most of the evening, another server or server assistant took my order for my second beer. And, SHE asked on status a couple of times. We had to ask our server for our one water refill. These seem small, and as it was a mini-reunion we were quite chatty, but what “got my goat” was the bringing of the check without asking for dessert orders. It was then that we asked for water refills to our glasses. This ninety-minute “second glass of water” action is very likely not policy. Anyway, some managerial training will sort out the five steps of service, but if she had some place to be before they even closed then I wasn’t please with her. STILL, I doubled the suggested 23% tip. Sixty bucks for two hours! You have to take care of people and lead the way. #nottobepetulant Looking forward to our next visit AND to Marian, a NEW sister restaurant!
