Very enjoyable evening celebrating my husband’s birthday with close friends
Our waiter got one of the orders wrong, but then comped dessert.
Great fun and service!
Beautiful atmosphere, star service, they made our honeymoon dinner special. I was so happy to have found this restaurant. Cast away any doubts, choose this restaurant.
This is an excellent restaurant! We treated our best friends for my husband’s birthday. Too bad there was a poorly behaved table of 5 kids across from us. The parents’ fault really, since they were not even paying attention, sitting at a different table. Our strategy was to ask our server to turn on the music (that was playing in the other rooms) in our room, and this helped quite a bit! We have been to great restaurants over the years, and whenever kids are there, they are usually behaved. It was just unfortunate that the ambience was so affected by their shrieking and carrying on. When you spend $400 on a meal, you expect to have more of an adult environment. We’ll definitely go back, and if they try to seat us near kids, we’ll be more forward about asking to be reseated. Try the halibut—it was divine!
Anniversary celebration. Enjoyable and staff was very accommodating.
Some minor things we commented on to each other: my sliced squash pieces that accompanied my bison ribeye needed to have the skins cut off before serving. The squash looked and tasted great but their skins had the consistency of hard plastic. Our desserts came with small cups and we were given large soup spoons to eat them with; a small demi desert spoon would’ve been nicer. Soups could have been hotter as well as the dinner plate itself. Food cooled off quickly and we ate inside. The bison ribeye was too gristly for that price. None of these comments were game changers. We loved our meal and the dining experience. We will definitely come back!
Fish was dry. Foie gras was overcooked and too sweet. Our favorite food was the lobster Mac and cheese which is a side, which is saying a lot.
We had great memories of La Tour from trips past. Disappointed by the pompous condescending young waiter, and the mediocre food. Sadly, no longer a Vail favorite.
The appetizers were very good, but the steak and duck entrees were not flavorful and the cuts of meat were tough. It was too pricey for the quality. The specialty cocktails were good.
This place was fantastic! We made reservations and were lucky to even get in as it was busy! I marked down the Ambience because even with reservations we were sitting essentially outside and being 9pm in the middle of October it was a bit chilly. That said, that was the only thing I could possibly 'complain' about. The server had great recommendations and was well timed with his service. He was there when you needed him, but not so much it was a bother. The food was all prepared perfectly, my hats off to the chef. Honestly, considering the back drop is Vail, I think it was all at a reasonable value. We would certainly recommend this place to others and will be back.
Outdoor seating was great. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. The escargot and steak were outstanding. We had to ask them to recook the salmon which they did. Would recommend.
Fantastic fall evening at La Tour! Great food, fantastic service, and wonderful ambience including the live music. Will definitely return again and again!
We came for a reasonable romantic dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We asked to sit outside per covid. They sat us at one of only two tables that didnt have a heater. It dropped to 47 degrees while we ate. The server was pretty much a pill. Made us feel like we were inconvenient. Thought it might just be us or that we had unrealistic expectations but friends of ours who ate a little later were sat at the exact same table with the same waitrr and shared similar sentiments. The food was really mixed. We each had a soup and an entree. The lobster bisque and halibut were wonderful. The french onion and salmon just didn’t make sense. Too many competing rather than complimentary components. When our server asked about the food, my husband aaid “I dont know youll want to hear this...” The aerver replied”Well its my job.” After hearing our experience with the dishes, he said, “But you’re eating it, right?”
Finally, even though I mentioned to the host that we were celebrating our anniversary, there was no recognition of that whatsoever. I didnt want nor expect a free piece of cake or anything, but a simple “congratulations. I hope we can provide a lovely meal for you in honor” would have been a nice acknowledgement that i had shared our personal celebration with La Tour.
The service was terrible. I’ve been here many times and always loved coming to la tour every time I’m in vail. Last night I went and waited 5 minutes to even be acknowledged by the hostess (or anyone) despite there being many servers nearby talking with one anther. Then we were sat and did not see our server for 15 minutes. Our waiter was rude and seemed irritated to wait on us. Someone else brought our check and cashed us out and he seemed angry with us for that too. Very weird and disappointing for our special date night in vail.
Had dinner here while visiting Vail. We both had the duck which was very good. I also asked for a side of the loaded scalloped potatoes and they were delicious. I would go back just for the potatoes.
Sat outside on patio freezing. No specials by 8pm, very underwhelming experience.
Halibut was over cooked and they made an error with our order.
We ordered two of their speciality cocktails, and both were beyond memorable. I have had 100's of French onion soups in many countries and this one, with the truffle cheese and the braised beef was unique and at the top of my experience. Halibut and Manhattan steak, wonderful. And being able to eat outside feeling safe during COVID, icing on the cake to a wonderful meal. Madeleines with lemon curd, yum.
Awesome restaurant in Vail Village. The Chicken Paillard is AMAZING.
Amazing French restaurant! We really enjoyed the waitstaff and everyone there.
Fantastic meal and fantastic wine selection! This restaurant never fails to impress. With the live music, early eating outside efore it gets too cold is highly recommended!
Family gathering while in Vail.
Foie appetizer and lobster bisque were nice. Both better than good, but not the best I’ve had. The lobe of foie had more sinews than it should have—wasn’t perfectly clean. The lobster bisque needed a touch of cream. Otherwise both were good. I expected more out of the Dover sole. It was not done table side, and was not hot when it came out. It did not flake, and was thus overcooked. A $50 mistake. “Brown butter” sauce was not, and left a lot to be desired. After I got some lemon slices to squeeze on the fish it was okay, but that’s it. I would not return here. Very poor execution on a classic dish to make, and quality did not live up to prices. Also, would expect more than a couple French wines by the glass at a French restaurant.
Wonderful staff- delicious food- loved the music outside- we always come to la tour when in Vail. Thank you!!
Went here on a weekend night and had less than stellar service. Understandably they were busy due to a perfect weekend for viewing the aspens colors. We had a late sitting and were seated quickly. The sever was convivial enough but our drinks required a reminder.
Great food, excellent service, wonderful ambiance dining outside. We'll be back!
Very romantic dinner on the patio. Wonderful food and service. Highly recommend!!
You MUST go to La Tour.
Always superb, it is one of the few restaurants in Vail that doesn't rest on its laurels. We started with the Hibachi oysters and escargot. The snails were nestled in a clarified butter sauce that wasn't oily like so many; it was creamy and decadent. I had the halibut which was wonderful, and their creamed spinach with Pernod and Absinthe shouldn't be missed, as well as the wild mushrooms.
The sommelier, Kai, is one of the best in the valley. He has a diverse and interesting wine list which appeals to all price points. He recommended an "orange" wine for us, which was outstanding and paired beautifully. For dessert, we had a pear in a puff pastry (vol au vent), which he recommended would pair with a cardamom liqueur. By itself, the liqueur was tough to swallow, but with the pear, wow! They were meant to be "peared" together.
No, it's not inexpensive. But worth every dollar.
We had a great evening. Good music, nice outside ambiance, attentive service and great views! Food was excellent
It was a great experience. The cheese plate and halibut was fantastic. Portions were perfect. We sat outside and enjoyed their entertainment. Guitar player was fantastic and very enjoyable. The entire evening was definitely one to remember.
Food was extremely good. The atmosphere was lovely. We dined outside with live music that was most enjoyable.
My only complaint was that a few of the servers were not wearing their masks appropriately which surprised me and made me feel uncomfortable. It was awkward, but for my own safety I actually asked one person to put his mask up over his nose. At a restaurant of this caliber you shouldn’t have to ask. It should be a given.
Other than that, it was a great experience !
Everything was amazing except the meat temperature. Bummer but still delicious!
Always fantastic food at LaTour. Service was great. Several more patio tables were set up to accommodate increased desire for outside dining. Outside music was a bit loud, but we were sitting close to the musicians.
Overall a very nice restaurant that we have dined there for decades. However, there was something missing this time as service was lower with less attention to detail as well. Our food temperature was barely warm? Maybe, simply the end of summer burn out with employees?
Waiter dropped a drink across the table on to our lap. Didn’t get a towel promptly as requested and did nothing to compensate. Not even a top up on wine since we ordered 6 glasses. The food was excellent.
