La Petite Auberge
Lovely restaurant, friendly staff and fab food
Lovely staff, very friendly. Great choice of food.overall a really good experience
Great food and friendly staff. Would highly recommend!
We enjoyed a deliciois meal. Both me and my husband ate three courses and thoroughly enjoyed the high quality french menu. The service was lovely, the ambience was intimate and cosy and we especially enjoyed watching the crepes being made at the side of the restaurant. I went for a kinder crepe (it was pancake day when we visited) and it exceeded my expectations.
Great online find in an area we don't often visit. Our friends were quite late but it wasn't a problem. Basically French cuisine and everyone enjoyed each of their choices. Fish was excellent, we were attentively looked after with smiles and good humour. Very enjoyable meal. Thank you!
Lovely food, good value for money. Have been here for different gatherings and have always enjoyed myself. The waiting staff were very friendly and we had a great evening.
Service friendly but professional. Menu extensive; particularly impressed with the choice of vegetarian dishes (brother-in-law rarely gets so many options!) Wines reasonably priced. Portions are immense - full of flavour and attractively served.
This is a proper French restaurant - that knows how to do meat and vegetarian dishes very well. Do leave room though for the crepes - they don't skimp on the fillings and they are delicious. Absolutely recommend.
I would like to recommend this lovely restaurant to everyone. Lovely atmosphere and absolutely delicious food. Great choices and a hit to everyone of my party that ordered a selection of dishes from the set and a la carte menu.
Take your pals.... family or go on your own.... you won’t regret this choice!
Being a few times and never disappoints. Go for it
Great food and helpful staff
Friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for u.
Lovely meal, cooked to perfection. Varied menu. Lively atmosphere. Tables close together.
Will definitely return
I had a great lunch with an old friend and found the food tasty and just right for a good lunch. Particularly good was the crepe - perfectly cooked - very good coffee and excellent service. It was excellent value and a great location in Upper Street.
Delicious food, great atmosphere, good for a big group.
Excellent crepes and starters! Really cozy and great atmosphere.
Great food, really big portions. Very attentive & friendly staff. Only one very minor issue is that we found that they really did speed through the service. But when we told them to slow down a little they did so that turned into a plus.
First class food and great service, enjoyed every mouthful.
A quiet New Year dinner with my husband after a busy Christmas. We were very well looked after, service was excellent and the food authentically French and beautifully cooked. Thank you.
My husband and I used to love this restaurant. However, this time is was below our expectations. The service was not very good, or the food. We left very disappointed, as it had always been our favourite. Hope it improves again.
Never disappointed by the food. Good choices in menu and A la carte.
Lovely food as always. Great Xmas menu (amazing value!) Service was very friendly as was the ambience. Recommend to everyone.
I chose La Petite Auberge because it had a pre-theatre menu (although this wasn’t offered on the night), is easy walking distance to Sadlers Wells and had received good reviews on OpenTable. However, we were sorely disappointed and cannot fathom its high rating.
I was immediately put off by the restaurant’s distinctly musty smell, its grubby feel and the sorry state of its ancient decor. The menu is rustic French and doubtless hasn’t changed in decades. Given this I had expected the food to be cooked well but my duck leg was tasteless, my wife’s grilled salmon was over cooked and the salads and garnishes were limp. Service was ok but a service charge was added to the bill despite there being only two of us.
Given the location, the restaurant is relatively inexpensive but there are many others to choose from near by - and that’s what we’ll be doing next time.
A delicious meal with very friendly and accommodating service. I have been a few years in a row now for the Christmas menu and would recommend to anyone.
Friendly and cosy with excellent service and food. Great Ambience and a real local gem.
Small restaurant with a good vibe. Not too noisy so we could hear each other in conversation but the piped music was seasonal ie Christmas but on a loop which was irritating! But the food was lovely and good value and quality.
I don’t live locally but I would go there again and would recommend others too.
A wonderful pre Christmas meal with a friend. Felt like being in Paris itself. Rabbit stew was divine, preceded by wonderfully garlicky snails. As these were a little sparse in number, the charming waiter offered us two digestifs on the house. Merci beaucoup!
Lovely restaurant. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We enjoyed a fabulous Christmas meal here.
Our favourite French restaurant ever! Lunch set menu is one of the cheapest, with a large selection. My boyfriend's ultimate favourite dessert is the crepe Suzette. Also, indoor decor and ambience is perfect especially romantic for a faux Parisian dinner date.
Great meal and service!
We dined here before attending the theatre for my daughter's birthday. It was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be coming back.
Verry good food in a very nice atmosphere! Cosy place, highly recommended for a date or a special occasion
Cosy and warm restaurant with a great menu
Food was delicious and plentiful
Booked after reading reviews, reasonable prices for good food, waiter was attentive but didn’t rush us. Worth a visit
Great food and service. Polite and welcoming staff and nice ambience
Good meal choices and service at excellent value. Always look forward to going here.
Second time eating here with friends and on both occasions, did not disappoint. Meat dishes (beef bourginon, rabbit stew, entrecote) all cooked perfectly. Generous portions with accompanying vegetables. I had salmon on bed of fresh spinach with new potatoes - yum! Puddings good too, especially tarte tartin with vanilla ice cream.
The selctions are those of a bistro, and have remained constant with daily specials, and the food preparation is good at a very reasonable price. Service is very efficient. This remains a reliable and reasonably priced place to eat, and we keep returning.
Four of us went to La Petite Auberge for a weekday lunch. Although there were only a few other diners, the restaurant has some good and varied seating areas. We had excellent service, nothing was too much trouble and I was told what was gluten free on the menus without any problem. The lunch menu is good value and there are a lot of choices, both on the a la carte and set menu. It is also great to be able to order a carafe rather than a bottle of wine if one wants it. The escargots and moules were delicious, as I gather was the steak. We will visit again.
Came for weekend dinner. Food was good, menu diverse, though for a French restaurant the onion soup was disappointingly thin and watery. Sadly our experience was marred by the temperature - it was roasting, not helped by us being sat upstairs at the top of the restaurant where the ceiling is low. Perhaps more disappointing was that each time we asked for the small air conditioning unit overhead to be put on, much to the relief of everyone around us, it lasted a matter of minutes before the waiters turned it back off because a single table of people (in short sleeves, jumpers on the back of their chair) complained about being cold, leaving the rest of us to swelter again. Pity.
Convenient for lunch before a matinee performance at the Almeida Theatre, the service was excellent, the food was authentically French and the menu fixe was very good value. We greatly enjoyed our meal here and would visit again.
Excellent - lovely restaurant and ambiance - good service
