Best atmosphere... service... food... my all time favorite restaurant...k
Last Saturday I went to La Merise, as I have several times before, expecting a good experience. It was not a good experience. To start, it took 20 minutes to get a martini. Sure, it was Saturday night, but so what? I ordered an appetizer, which was good, though the waitress wanted me to order my entrée right then. Later, when she came back for the second time about an entrée, I ordered from the special menu for that night (swordfish, which I love and rarely see on a menu) and she said they didn't have any, they were out. Since special menus are what a majority of the clientele order from on any given night, and since I was there early (7:30) there was no excuse for being out of something on the special menu. So I had to order something else. To top it off, she brought that entrée before I'd finished my appetizer, which you simply don't do in a decent restaurant. I may be back sometime, but not soon. The food was good, but everything else was a mess.
I hesitate to write this review because right now La Merise is our very favorite restaurant we've ever been to in any city, and it's in walking distance of us. It is amazing and we try not to go too often so we don't over do it, but...the more people learn about how great a place it is, the less likely we are to get a table. See our dilemma? La Merise serves consistent and delicious food, in a lovely ambiance, with friendly wait staff, not stuffy or pretentious, good value for everything they offer. We're crazy about the place, honestly. But please don't tell anyone else about it!!!
We have been loyal customers for years now. Last night was the second time in the last month that we have experienced a dismissive attitude from a server. Hopefully, these two servers will not continue to be the trend in one of our favorite restaurants.
No one deserves to be treated like they are an inconvenience.
Great meal! Sat outside on a beautiful Colorado night. We all had the filet and it was delicious. But the bananas fosters was out of this world ! Highly recommend
We love this restaurant! Consistently good food great service and ambience!
It is a tired menu with tired service and tired management.
Wonderful place to relax and enjoy friends.
The food was delicious and delivered with a smile.
Our waitress was kind and attentive. We waited a longer time for our food, but we were having fun so not a big deal.
Service was terrible. Our waiter did not pay enough attention to an allergy in our party, and the food took forever to come out.
Great place for a “special occasion. “
We have been there many times and expect to go many more.
It was our 25 th anniversary and we had a lovely dining experience. My wife had the foie gras and I enjoyed the escargot both of which were very good
We both enjoyed the fish specials mahi mahi and sea bass. Service was attentive and not pushy.
The only suggestion would to have the bread warm
Food is very good and atmosphere is enjoyable. Roger is excellent and great to talk with.
I have nothing bad to say. First of all food was amazing and authentic. Steak cooked exactly as requested. The Beef Bourgnignon was crafted to perfection. The service was amazing and they seemed to know exactly when we ran out of something (wine, bread, finished plate) and anticipate every need. No complaints at all!!
Very attentive waiter allowed for a leisurely get-together where we could relax over wine and superb French food
La Merise is not one of those elegant restaurants where you pay a high price for "can't do this at home" nouvelles créations. Instead, the food simply is consistently good, consistently French, and consistently affordable. The selection of French wines is one of the best in Denver in a medium price range.
We all enjoyed our dinner selections very much. The portions are very satisfying. The restaurant has a relaxed feel, while the menu is quite sophisticated. This is a great restaurant for dinner out with friends and special occasions.
As always Le Merise did NOT disappoint. The food, ambiance and service was excellent. The manager on duty was fabulous and she always remembers us and make us feel at home.
Lovely outdoor seating. Large pours and wonderful food. Keep going back again and again.
We made reservations for my boyfriend’s parents trip to Denver. Absolutely had a great experience! Dinner was wonderful as well as the service. We look forward to dining again!
What makes this place is the ambiance. If you get the chance to sit out on the patio, do it! Food was good, but not the reason I would recommend or return.
La Merise is always a reliable choice in Cherry Creek. My only problem is the difficulty in finding parking within a walkable distance. I wish the restaurant could arrange with the close by businesses that have parking spaces to let diners use them after normal business hours. Three of our party of 6 had oysters to staart, followed by the trout and all plates were clean, so they must have been good. I had the crab/avocado salad which was very good. Sadly my companions opted out of dessert so did not get to try the offerings which looked quite tempting.
This was my husband's and my first experience eating at La Merise. We had a great experience. My husband had the lamb chops and he commented they were the best he's had. My avocado lump crab salad was perfect and there are no words for the banana chocolate crepe. We will go back often and have already recommended this restaurant to our family and friends.
We loved this restaurant and its menu, but it took a ridiculously long time to get our food. The excuse was “we’re very busy” but a steak and lamb chops should take 10 minutes to cook and should be out quickly. Also, when it finally arrived, my lamb was raw inside and had to be recooked which took an additional 10 minutes after my friend got her food. That was the only disappointment. Everything tasted great and our server was very nice.
They were under staffed at lunch but the crepes were superb. Dinner was good but service and good were not spectacular.
Delicious food and fantastic servers. The outdoor patio is wonderful
First time trying this restaurant, I will be back!
We had a most-delightful evening! The ambiance on the patio was perfect, our waiter was fun and very efficient and the food was spectacular! Thank you!
Very nice lunch with friends on the patio. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Another wonderful dinner at La Merise. The pork medallions and steak were perfectly cooked. Get there while the Palisade peaches in brandy and cinnamon in a crepe are on the dessert menu!
I had lunch there with tow friends, it was lovely. Our waiter was timely, informative and friendly. The food was fantastic and so was the outdoor dining area.
Food was so-so this time.
Food selection and food preparation very good to excellent. Prices equitable. Wait staff was wonderful, smiling, gracious. No handicap access. 1 wheelchair person was nicely accommodated by a waiter helped down the 8 + steps from street level to patio and into dining area. Same when leaving.
Nice place, I just didn’t feel like I got my money’s worth. Food was good just a little pricey for what you get.
The food was okay but it was quite salty. That is an unpardonable sin or at least it should be.
Extremely slow food service. Food okay. Poor job w steak (extremely rare/uncooked). Overall an awkward experience.
No ramp for the disabled. Forced friendliness from server. Hostess/Bartender acted like we were intruding, long wait for acknowledgement and for seating. Super long wait for server to acknowledge. Long wait for water and drinks. Very long wait for main course. Food was meh. Onion soup was not browned on top, cheese was very chewy, broth was not flavorful. Other food, omelet and Benedict were nothing special. Hash browns were good. Overall the food was average, service poor and the lack of legally required accommodations for the disabled make this a no-go for us. Not special in any way.
Date night with my girl!! Fabulous food, wine and service. A perfect evening
the food was ok/good, but the service that night was very bad.
It felt like we were tolerated but not really seen as guests who would like to enjoy the French cuisine...
the staff really made it feel bad for us!!
Extremely slow service. The waiter was nice and apologized but the restaurant wasn't even full. Not a good value considering the $400 dollar bill for 3 people. Will go elsewhere next time.
