Have always loved the SW Blvd La Bodega. Unfortunately, had not been in almost two years. So, was excited to get an opportunity. All my favorite tapas were still present, though slightly changed, along with some awesome new ones. The favorite of the night were the always great Jamon/Manchego toast and the roasted mushrooms. Felt great to be back!
Great food , great service. Todd was amazing (our server) and we like to go there every month or when we have people visiting from out of town.
Used to have live music … those were the old good days
Great service and great food....our server Todd was awesome.
My experience is hit or miss here. Sometimes it's great and other times it's sub-par which is disappointing considering it's not the cheapest place for a quick bite.
When we got there and told them we had three instead of 2 they were not happy. Then we got sat under a very drippy, leaky, loud air conditioner. I do mean under it. Also it was so cold. I was so close to the table next to me that I heard their full conversation even when I plugged my right ear. The food was fine but I mostly just drank regular coffee. The only thing that was good was the server. She was super nice.
Always love La Bodega. This visit, my mother, sister and I asked not to be seated under the AC, which was dripping condensation on the floor, because we're all 3 prone to feel cold. The hostess left us standing there for quite a while so she could look at her seating chart, and when she returned said "This is going to mess me up, but ..." and seated us at a different table. There were still empty tables when we left 90 minutes later, so she probably could have kept that to herself. The server and food were delightful!
We have eaten at La Bodega since it originally opened( 25 years?). We have always enjoyed it and we returned for the first time since Covid restrictions in over a year. In the interim the menu has been changed. At every level the food was excellent, wonderful salads, a flight of gazpachos and an excellent charcuterie board. We were not able to try other items because this filled us up. We must return soon to try other new menu items.
Several dishes were disappointing which was unfortunate because the service was exceptional and the ambiance is fantastic. We’ve had brunch and tapas there several times over the years and this was not indicative of our usual experience, service excluded as it has always been fantastic. It wasn’t just one dish that was the problem, which could easily be excused and is no big concern. But when the over medium eggs come out like a rubbery hockey puck and the potatoes are flavorless, it’s not a great brunch experience. The service was amazing and the manager was very professional so it was disappointing that the food itself didn’t live up to par.
Went on a double date. Tried lots of new tapas, as well as enjoyed some of our old favorites. A little loud to be able to have a conversation.
Great food and service. Coming back soon.
Arrived for Happy Hour. Had a great seat out on the patio. I love what they have done to accommodate more seating outside. Great experience once again!
Excellent food and outstanding service.
Their happy hour is fantastic! The main room was not packed like for dinner, so it makes for a really intimate setting. The server was knowledgeable and very personable. The house special sangria is perfectly sweet and boozy. Our favorite plate was for sure the roasted red papers stuffed with a curried chicken salad and golden raisins.
Wonderful ad always! Thanks!
We had Todd as our server, and he was stupendous! He was attentive and charismatic. The food was fast and tasty, and the red sangria was 12/10. A pitcher of Sangria is only $30 which was more than enough for 3 adults. Ambiance was great--not too loud but lively around us. It was my mother's belated birthday celebration and we were able to celebrate it beautifully with a bday churro! Overall it was a great experience.
Amazing food and service, what a gem! Highly recommended La Bodega.
Perfect per usual. The sangria is always incredible and I’ve never been served a dish that I didn’t practically devour!
Outstanding dinner. Service and food were excellent. Only negative, say in the center of dining room and had two ceiling mounted air conditioners blowing down right on me. Could have asked to changed tables so it’s on me. That said, they have ceiling fans and could change dampers to blow across versus down.
Been here several times & had an overall good experience. Tonight, not so much. Food was TERRIBLE. Overcooked seafood, ALL OF IT, Shrimp, Scallops & Calamari were all rubber band like texture, clearly overcooked, frozen and tried to quick thaw, I don’t know but it was terrible. Our best dish of the night was a non-cooked tapas plate/charcuterie board. Gals said the Sangria was pretty good. So disappointed. Great ambience & service was decent. Will not be back, which is a shame.
Food was great as usual. Everyone had a great time.
Love the expanded outdoor seating and our waitress was amazing!!
Was busy for a sunday but everything was great food wait was expected
We very much miss the Leawood location, but still wanted to try out the original. The food was mostly delicious. The sweet vermouth flight was exceptional, and the red sangria was as good as my wife remembers it from Leawood. The standard cocktails were decent, but nothing exceptional, especially considering the high price point.
Our server seemed to have forgotten to put in the last part of our food order. I know this can happen and am not upset by it, but by the time we asked about it, it would have been nice if she admitted she had not put it in so we would have had the option to cancel, as by this time our appetites were diminished as our first plates were settling.
Not sure if we will be back, though we definitely learned our lesson to have our entire order ready at once instead of ordering more later.
Brunch was wonderful, and it was so nice sitting outside. The avocado toast was fantastic and I can't wait to order it again. Our service was awful, I think we maybe saw the waiter 4 times the whole hour+ we were there (by the time he came around to ask if I wanted a refill, I'd already finished my meal) so that was disappointing but the food was awesome so we'll be back.
The food was good and the environment was energetic. We arrived and were promptly taken care of however it was raining. I’m assuming a bunch of patrons had to be reseated inside. The chilled tapas were lovely however they took a long time to receive and one of them was no longer available (we didn’t find that out until 10-15 minutes after we ordered).
We ate the pimientos rellenos de pollo which were excellent. The peppers were crisp and provided an excellent frame for the chicken mixture inside. We also had Higos y queso de cabra which was a great dish. The baguettes and goat cheese complemented each other well and the peppers with the fig coulis were excellent. They provided a sweet refreshing balance to the fattiness from the goat cheese.
For our main entrees we had the gambas a la plancha and the embuditos mixtos. The mixtos was good however they had too many potatoes and the balance of meat to starch was off. The shrimp dish was our favorite. It was light and creamy with a great flavor and we even scraped up the sauce with the potatos from the mixtos.
We would highly recommend the restaurant however we would like to see better service.
Food was amazing! We became friends after studying abroad in Spain and it was great to enjoy Spanish tapas again!
Quite possibly the best happy hour menu in KC. The portions are so generous, was expecting the opposite because it is tapas. Ordered 3 of the happy hour plates to share with another person, and we didn’t even come close to finishing. Food was amazing, staff was so kind. The sangria pitchers with champagne are an absolute must. Can’t wait to go back!
The grilled octopus is a must order from the restaurant. Literally everything in that dish mixed well. Our first visit to the restaurant but very delightful and exciting. Even the small order of paella is big for two of us. Great food and service. Due to constructions around the area, it did take quite a while for us to secure a parking.
We had the garlic shrimp, filet tenderloin with blue cheese topping and pancetta wrapped dates! All delicious. I ordered a sangria and it was delivered before our waiter told us it was 1/2 price wine night. We would have ordered a bottle of wine, but alas I settled for the sangria which was yummy! We are never disappointed when we come to La Bodega!!
Great place for al fresco dining, with a great selection of food and wine, served communally.
Eating out for a concert! Great service and great food! Always good!
Food was incredible. We got one tapa and the small paella and it was more than enough for two. Delicious flavors and very friendly and helpful service!
Great food and atmosphere!
Went there for Father’s Day. Had a nice time. Waitress could have been slightly more attentive And personable, but no worries. Food was very good. Drinks could have Been stronger. The sangrias Had no detectable alcohol
The food was okay but not worth the money. The restaurant needs updates and some space between each table.
Fantastic food and the cocktails were right on point. Highlight of our KC trip. Must go!
Food was spectacular! Our favorites were the scallops, octopus and dates! Will definitely come back!
La Bodega is a MUST VISIT restaurant in KC! The tapas are to die for, the sangria is amazing...and the CHURROS are soooo yum!
Todd was an amazing server and helped to make for a perfect night with amazing food!
Their sangria pitchers are a great item to split and an even better deal if you're able to get them during their happy hour. My friend and I had this meal as our dinner and split 3 tapas between us. We got the sautéed shrimp, chicken and chorizo skewers, and roasted potatoes in a garlic aioli sauce. Overall great food! La Bodega is one of my favorite restaurants in Kansas City and I enjoy taking people here when I have the chance.
