La Bodega - Kansas City
This place is absolutely phenomenal! I’ve been twice thus far—the second time being the time I proposed to my now fiancé! The staff was extremely helpful, thoughtful, and strive to meet every need. The food is always fantastic and the atmosphere is pleasant, peaceful, and fun. I highly recommend this restaurant; it definitely holds a special place in our [fiancé & I’s] heart! Truly incredible.
One of my favorites in KC! Very bummed that the shishito peppers have been pulled from the menu but other than that — incredible experience as per usual!
I’ve been here before. We went for happy hour which is the best way to make your dollar go further. We had several Tapas. Next time I wouldn’t choose the pan con tomate AND the goat cheese one because both were essentially the same except one had cheese. The churros were amazing.
Also, one of my favorite Sangrias in the KC Area.
This place was so delicious! Definitely met and exceeded our expectations. There were really good deals that came a long with brunch as well, like 1/2 priced sangria and bottomless mimosas. The tapas were wonderful and full of fun and unique flavors. My boyfriend and I are vegetarian and there were so many options (clearly marked) that we could enjoy.
We’ve been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years. However, we haven’t been in about three years. We sat for about 20 minutes without any server acknowledging us, no water at the table either. We were extremely disappointed with the food quality, it seems to have gone slightly down hill. My favorite dish are the pancetta wrapped shrimp - they use to be large almost prawn sized shrimp with bacon wrapped around each one. What we received were small cocktail sized shrimp with burnt crumpled bacon on top. All of our other dishes just seemed ok. I love this place and hope the quality was lacking due to it being a busy valentines weekend and it’s not a new normal.
Had a great night! Ray suggested the Spanish coffee and it did not disappoint. All our food was delicious and we had amazing service, even when it was really busy.
Service was excellent, nice atmosphere enjoyed all but my main entrée. When asked I was told the edges were supposed to be burnt. Should have went with the pork chop!
We were concerned about a fixed menu when what we really enjoy about La Bodega is their huge list of Tapas.
The service was slow and the food sub par to what we’ve come to expect from this establishment. The pork was way over cooked and not worth finishing. The sangria was fantastic as always.
We will definitely return, however, we will not return if the menu is fixed.
White sangria was great. (Good price for happy hour) Our server was also managing the bar so we did some waiting but not terrible.
Would go back for happy hour for sure
Kasha was an excellent waitress.
We had the lobster paella. I would recommend this if you came for the paella.
The paella Was heavy in the rice, could have had more meat. And the fish in the dish was dry.
Just a fun, eclectic, enjoyable dining experience! Tapas invite conversation, and these were really good! Great value, too!
Usually have a good experience here, but went on Monday and the service and food were both way off.
Consistently great food. Out of Brussels sprouts the night we were there. Our server didn’t always check with everyone when she was at our table. We had to call out for her a few times as she would leave abruptly. Parking is always a hassle. But we always like the menu and vibe.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Little loud, but I guess that’s a sign of a successful restaurant!
This is my favorite restaurant because I don't have a big appetite, especially at lunch. Here I can order two or three appetizers and share with a friend. Perfect for lunch. Having a bit of an assortment of their tapas is perfect. We all really like the stuffed dates, mushrooms in garlic sauce, burrata, & the beef tenderloin and I could go on and on.
We always sit in the bar area as John, the bartender, really is on his job & I take his wine suggestions every time. He really knows his stuff. Host and hostesses are welcoming and all staff are attentive-great service. Relaxed atmosphere, can't say anything that would need improvement.
Food was excellent. Pricing was reasonable. Will definitely return!
Such a great experience at brunch! Awesome drink options which include bottomless mimosas and a brunch menu in addition to the traditional tapas. It was pretty loud, but there were several large parties there. Overall 10/10, check it out!
The food was great but the wait was well over 15 minutes
The service was good the food was real good but the portions are too small for the price.
really good Tapas. As with most restaurants these days it was a bit loud, but not as bad as many I patronize regularly. Thanks for the great service.
It was a wonderful experience with tasty food, would love to go back.
Good quality small plates. Relaxed environment, great happy hour...
we loved where we sat!! it was so great to be on our own and by the kitchen! very comfy with the seats and pillows. service was great and the food was amazing!
Super loud, super dim, food was less than average. Our server was not very friendly or helpful and was slow. Plus $10 for a tiny glass of sangria. Not worth the visit.
Great place to try new food and enjoy KC. Gave top notch stars, 'only' thing I'd add would be some flags on the ceiling to slow some of the cross room noise. It's really my ears fault but was a bit loud. Food was great and drinks had plenty of choices.
I have visited this restaurant many times and each time we go the food and service is always excellent and friendly; so why not spend NYE there. Tapas are wonderful and creative as well as the cocktails. One of the best cocktail menus in the city; from the Gin list to a wonderful and hard to find spicy cocktail Lador Sir to The Smoke on the Prairie ( mezcal). Finish the evening with a must have SPANISH Coffee!!
We had a great time on NYE at La Bodega. Excellent pre-fix menu. Would go again.
We went for a couples dinner New Years Eve. It was packed! Atmosphere was really neat. The service was really poor for such a nice place and a special dinner! Our server took our drink order and forgot us for awhile, we got pretty thirsty, and then charged me twice for a glass of wine, and it was slow-although that could be because it was packed. And the food.... 😬. I had the tomato and saffron soup, smoked salmon and goat cheese flat bread, veggie paella, and rasberry churros. The soup and flat bread weren’t bad but not anything special, the paella was really not good. It was Spanish rice from rice a roni..... that being said, I love paella and want to go back and hope for a better experience. There are a lot of good reviews of this restaurant and I really want to try it again. My spouse had the beef short ribs and they were fantastic! The flavor in the mushrooms was amazing. Also, the raspberry churros are something to go back for!
Get together with my sister in law and niece - celebrating that we found out my niece is pregnant! 🎉🎉🎉
We took our friends who were eating at La Bodega for the first time. The food and service was awesome and we had a great evening!
Amazing food and wonderful staff!!! Always a hit
Can’t wait to go back! Everyone and everything was perfect!
We arrived early for our reservation...were told we had an assigned table and would be seated when the group at our table left. We were finally seated 25 mins after our reservation time and 3 groups of 4 who arrived after us were seated before us. The manager recognized how frustrated we were and did a great job trying to make up for the hostess failures.
I celebrated my birthday at La Bodega. We were seated promptly. The food quality was good. Our waitress wasn't as attentive as I would have liked, as my water glass was empty for a long time before I had to catch her eye to request it be refilled.
Such an excellent happy hour!! Food is always good and hot. Service quick and attentive. Pitchers of delicious sangria were wonderful for a holiday dinner out!
