Went for low key date night out. The appetizer we tried to order wasn't available. I ordered a poke bowl, my husband had a burger. I felt like I could get a much better poke bowl elsewhere for cheaper... Didn't have enough variety of taste and textures for me. We both had 2 drinks each. Bill was about $80. We felt like it was expensive for what it was. Place was too noisy. We won't be back.
Great dinner. Sea bass melted in your mouth. Service was top notch. Fun evening. Might add that we ended with the butter cake. I highly recommend that as the end of a perfect dinner
Birthday dinner for dear friend. Her filet was done perfectly BUT NOT EDIBLE, very tough. She did not eat it.
Our salads came out with entree????.
Salmon good, chicken average. Potatoes cold!!!
Manhattan came its as just makers mark, sent back then arrived in proper glass shaken but must have been out of sweet vermouth and cherries.
Probably won’t be back.
Was a favorite pre COVID
Thank you for the honest feed back regarding your previous visit. I apologize that it was not up to your standards as it is ours to provide every guest with the most exceptional experience. Being that we dropped the ball, I would love to invite you back for the much deserved PROPER Kona Grill experience. We truly take passion behind our brand and our product and unfortunately sometimes mistakes do happen, but we put as much passion into fixing said mistakes.
We just want to try something new that why try out. But I’m very please with the whole experience and will be back
Thank you so much for the great feedback and five star review, we hope to see you again soon!
To start the evening management refused to show me to the table where my date had been seated. Service was prompt but borderline rude. Avocado egg roll was delicious but remainder of entrees were either lacking in flavor or too spicy. Dinner was complete and sides never showed up so management bought a dessert.
Good food, really nice server. A little pricey but worth it as hubby didn’t complain about his steak once.
This is wonderful to hear! Thank you Conny for the great review! We're glad to hear hubby enjoyed his steak!
Food came out extremely cold. Server stopped being attentive the moment there was a problem. Manager was wonderful, but the disconnect between the kitchen and how the server should handle issues was a grave concern.
Truly apologize, we dropped the ball. Hopefully you will give a chance to make it up as we do strive for a five star dinning experience. see you again soon!
It was a 1030p reservation. Good tasted old; waitress came by twice…in 1.5 hours. No bueno.
We do apologize as we strive for a five star dinning experience. Hopefully you will let us make it up by returning for a better experience. Hope to see you soon!!
Great food, great prices. Fun and energetic ambiance.
We are so glad you enjoyed everything. Thank you for the five star rating, hope to see you again soon!
The service was good, food was good, noise level not too bad although it gets louder in the evening.
Thank you for the five star rating, hope to see you again soon!!
The food was great, the service was a bit on the slow side and the server seemed like he was new.
Music is loud hard to have a conversation while dining. Good was good but pricey for what you get.
The experience was great and only made far better by the exceptional service by Bernie.
It was our first time at this establishment referral he enjoyed it and I’ll server was one of the best this year
I love eating at Kona Grill-Tampa. Professional staff, great service, and the ambiance is very relaxing. Food & drinks are always yummy & I will continue to support this business.
Excellent food and good service on a busy night. Music was a bit too loud and I felt like I had attended a rock concert the next day, but good food and cocktails made up for the loud music.
Kona Grill is a nice casual restaurant with an outdoor/indoor bar area with great ambiance. Upbeat music, good drinks and although a limited menu, good entrees and awesome sushi. Will be back!
The food was delicious, although not sure it was quite worth the price tag (in comparison to other sushi options in the area). The margarita flight was so fun!
No one at the restaurant. Coffee cold and out of breakfast items during brunch. Left before we received any food.
Service was friendly and as quick as they could be, BUT...Food was mediocre and took 35 minutes to come out. We only ordered a sushi roll, sweet potato fries and a salad. The mojito was $10 and had little to no rum in it although it tasted good. The restaurant seems like it needs a little TLC as well. It was ok, but not worth going back.
Great value for 9pm happy hour
Went on an non busy Tuesday evening. Sat down , never got acknowledged and was sitting for 15 minutes before leaving after reading other reviews I'm glad I didn't stay
It was okay for my first time. I did not like that ran out things.
Waited 2 hours to get served after making a reservation and arriving on time. Server was distracted and even after an hour it seemed he wanted nothing to do with the situation.
Hadn’t been to Kona Grill in quite a few years, and decided to try it again for Mother’s Day. I think maybe it was a big mistake. The kitchen was backed up the entire time, from ordering an appetizer to waiting for it to be delivered lukewarm took 35 minutes. As for dinner we waited 45 minutes for that. I understand during busy season that the kitchen can get backed up, people can call out leaving understaffed situations. However my issue was not so much with the kitchen it was with our server. It is your responsibility as server to let your customers know what is going on. We saw him running back-and-forth, but never stopped to offer update. We had to flag him down to get another drink and when the bill was brought, it was barely 10 seconds before he was back to collect it. It was not ready so another 20 minutes went by before we flagged him down to take the bill. I believe it’s the restaurants responsibility to train their employees on how to manage customers and make them happy. I was not the only person unhappy, another lady walked into the kitchen to complain. I hope this review helps and you reevaluate situations on busy days.
I've gone to Kona for years. It's always been great. Not this time. This was probably the worst meal I have ever had in my life. I ordered Pad Thai. It tasted like it was cooked a week ago and warmed up. I didn't even eat it, it was so bad. I had a tablespoon of chicken in the whole dish. The noodles were like rubber.
We didn't order drinks and waited 90 minutes for our meal. They said they were busy.
Celebrated birthday. Didn't even recognize that.
I will never go to Kona again. You shouldn't either.
Let me preface this by saying that I'm fully aware of the challenges of finding labor during this time, and that I was prepared for some delays. But it took 75 minutes for them to get our food out, because the kitchen had fallen apart earlier on Mother's Day, and by 2:00 it still hadn't recovered. We didn't know any of that until we'd been waiting on the food for 45 minutes. It makes me wonder why they opened up the outdoor seating if they knew they didn't have the staffing to cover their current capacity? Maybe it would have been better to have been turned away at the door with an explanation, even if I did have a reservation. The waitress hid most of the time, and couldn't manage to keep our water glasses filled, and the manager took care of the irate customer, but never looked at us. The food was adequate, not amazing, but that also was because I was so hangry! The whole experience was unfortunate, and I don't think I can talk myself in to giving them another chance.
Had a reservation for Mother’s Day and was told it was a 30 minute wait, which continued to grow in estimated time. We left, they definitely need a better way of handling future occasional events....probably won’t be back.
The food was great, but they should not have had, so many customers. They did not have enough staff. We did not receive our food until an hour and ten minutes, after sitting down.
It was very busy because it was Mother’s Day but the food was great and the waitress was very apologetic for the wait in being served which we understood because of the day.
It was Mother's Day, so I knew there may be delays, but an hour and a half wait to be ignored for second choice menu items is a bit much to handle. When we arrived, the rose was a nice touch, and it went severely down hill from there. The starters menu item we requested was no longer available. Also, they were out of lobster and our favorite dessert. It was only 11:45am. We ordered steak and pad thai, but only received the appetizer - calamari.
The bar was backed up, so drinks took a long time too. I went to the bar for the second round when the waiter indicated it would be faster - now I work there. I got the feeling the wait staff was trying their best, but they were not enabled to be successful. We walked out at 1:15pm after slapping a $20 on the table for the calamari we ate at noon.
Kona needs to learn to staff for rush or events and support their wait staff and kitchen staff. Happy Mother's Day, we went to a different restaurant by the mall and had a great experience. We won't be going back to Kona.
Mother’s Day, understaffed all the food came out wrong, after waiting over an hour.
Great brunch & great service! Bottomless Mimosas were incredible
Incredibly understaffed for Mother's Day. Over an hour to get food served. Too few staff to handle things. If understaffed, then reduce reservations. Find a balance since you pretty much will lose me or future guests.
The waitress was good but the food was messed up, 6 orders, and took over an hour and half to come out. Three vegetarians who ordered dishes with no meat all had meat in them. Another dish was missing part of the order and it was never fixed. The table was not clean when we sat down, in fact there was dried food all over the table. The staff was good but the food and experience was not.
Great food, friendly staff overall great service. I would recommend
After being seated it took way too long for waitress to greet us and take our drink order. After placing drink order it to forever to get our drinks. Waitress apologized and said a server had just quit and they were having trouble keeping up. Then the food came out cold.
I have been here before and did not get this kind of service. Apparently there was not enough employees to handle the business that was there that evening.
For the price of the food I expected better quality
Goos choice of options on the menu. Sat outside and the service was not great. Food wasn't bad, pretty average. Overall not an amazing experience but still good.
