   Sat on their patio for a nice dinner overlooking the water with friends. It wasn’t too hot but we did notice fans that could be requested to be turned on if it was hotter. Our waiter was nice and we tried the Taste of Kona meal which was a great deal! $39 for a glass of wine or champagne, salad, entree and dessert! The salads were large and we enjoyed the sushi rolls and Lemon shrimp pasta. The steak arrived overcooked so they made us a new one that was cooked to perfection. Our favorite dessert was the double brownie which was topped with vanilla ice cream!

   We ordered the Mother’s Day Brunch for 4 people. It was served family style and it was very skimpy for 4. They said that we could ask for more but we could not get our server to come to the table. By the time that we got a second serving, our family members who ordered off of the menu were finished eating and tired of waiting for us to eat. For $49 each, we were disappointed with the amount of food that was served. Also, we were not given plates to eat on. The pancake syrup was missing and the sauce for the vegetable frittata was also missing. Also, we had to ask for serving utensils.

   They were very clearly overbooked and let us know after we asked twice for updates on timing that we wouldn’t be seated until over an hour after our reservation time. The hostess was unwilling to help and blamed “corporate.” We were able to find seats at the bar outside instead of a table, but they were out of several items on the menu. Also, the bar and napkins were dirty/sticky. The bartender was very nice and apologetic and the food we did get was good, but overpriced.

   We had a reservation, but when we arrived we were told that there weren't any takes available and we were given the option of sitting outside in the rain or a high top table at the bar. I ordered unlimited mimosa's, but the service was so sporadic I had to sip slowly as I waited for the next drink or wait with an empty glass until I was served again. The food selection in the mother's day brunch was limited and not really appealing. I made the best of it, but this was my first and most likely last time trying Kona Grill.

   We went at 10 am for Mother's Day brunch. When we arrived they were only offering a "special" all you can eat Mother's Day menu for $49 per person or their dinner menu. This was not advertised on their website or social media, nor was it told to me on the phone when I called to confirm my reservation ahead of time. So if you wanted breakfast, you had to spend at least $50. Plus that was for limited items like scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns etc. Eggs Benedict was another $20 upcharge on top of the $50. The thing is, they have a regular brunch menu that they do every weekend. That is what we expected, but they would not allow us to order from it. It was classic bait and switch.

   Server Denzel was really good…. He took good care of us despite having a lot of tables and some big parties too! His recommendations were spot on …. I had the special, my daughter choose several different items which were all good. We will be back!

    Wasn’t the best experience. Ordered Edamame as app, and it took forever to put them in a bowl and serve even though place was empty. The server said the first batch was made covered in angry sauce instead of on side. Then I had Sake flight. When I tried to buy the full bottle of one from flight, I was told that they were out and it had been substituted with a cheaper one on flight. Who does that? Food portions were small but expensive. Don’t anticipate going back.
