Our server was great , food came quick. Good service
Happy Hour is worthy
Service always top notch
I love Kona..it is one of my fav places to dine! We had great service last night (which is rare to find these days). Why the lower rating!? Increased prices ($4 for tea) and decreased portions (the avacado rolls were like a child's portion).
Party of 2 Seated - 15+ min not recognized. Got up went to kitchen to get own water and tea.
They then realized something must be wrong as I was pouring my water in the side station. Manager Matt seemed rattled that I would seek to self serve. I told him that it had been 15 min since seated. We watched a table of 10-12 seat after us and they had waters and cocktails a duce was seated beverage and app order taken. A 4 top seated and waters given. I might not have been as irritated had my wife not chosen this for her birthday.
The server apologized, and started to again and I asked did she even knew she had been seated. If you don't know your seated you cannot provide service so I did not feel it was her fault at all. She was very sweet.
Food was ok, restaurant loud, and value for the experience just ok.
Recovery just ok.
Most likely will not go back for dinner.....perhaps try for lunch.
Overall a very good dinner. I had the sea bass, which was exceptional. My wife had the filet mignon, which was good, not great. The side dish with her steak was Brussel sprouts, which she usually loves, but these weren't cooked enough, so they were not very tender. The sushi as an appetizer was excellent. My daughter and her boyfriend dined with us and said their meals were very good as well.
The food was amazing. I had the spicy lobster avocado toast. They had a nice brunch menu. The mimosas were very good. The service was great. We plan to go back.
The server was very sweet. You could tell she was very busy but she was very pleasant to us the whole time. I commend her for that idk how they do it.
Great service and friendly staff, even better food!
It was lovely! Took a bit of time to get our food, but it was worth it.
Bartender and one waiter were used to cover the entire bar area and outdoor seating. Clearly understaffed. Waited at least 5 minutes to be acknowledged and another few minutes before drink order was taken. Waitress took our uncomplicated food order w/o writing anything down and as a result shared salad not split, sushi included ingredient we ordered without and received my salad w/o chicken, which it comes with per the menu. Manager had sushi and salad remade. Sushi came out fine. Salad delivered was the wrong salad altogether.
I appreciate the manager comped the sushi and salad but root of the problem needs addressed.
Service was slow, food was adequate and I will never go back.Thank You
Also, the place was very dirty
Surf and turf was delicious for dinner and enough leftovers for a full lunch the next day.
Floors were greasy like they used the kitchen mop on the guest floor. The booths look like they took them from a Furr’s cafeteria when they shut down 20 years ago. Our frozen margarita flight came out liquid because it sat on the bar for 10 minutes before making its way to the table.
The food was non-descript. Not horrible, but nothing amazing.
If you’d like Plaza prices for basic sushi, Kona Grill is the place for you.
We went to celebrate a birthday and had a reservation and they sat us and then forgot about us, apparently there was no server assigned to our station. Took us an hour and a half to get our food and it was OK. I probably wouldn’t go back.
They changed a few things on menu. Was a little disappointed and the waitress was never so she didnt really seem to understand.
We still had a great time but seemed a lot less organized prior to COVID
Sherri with the flower was awesome and I think her name was May. The hostess. They were so good to us!
Food and service was phenomenal! Will definitely being going back!
Restaurant rates poorly in service, food quality, atmosphere and has changed so much from the last time I was there. Seems like a noisy bar like atmosphere. Used to be a quiet and dignified place to enjoy a good meal. Place seemed messy.
Our only complaint was they had a QR code for the menu which was fine except when you pause to talk you had to rescan the QR code each time you paused?? Finally we asked to see a paper menu in which they had. Food was great and service was very good. Manager dropped by table a couple of times to ensure our experience was good.
They gave us the same, wrong order 2 times.
Long wait for service. Long, drawn out process between sitting, drink orders, food orders, receiving drinks, food. Never received napkins. Waiter was polite but seems either new or spread too thin.
Great selection of food. Enjoyed the surf and turf!!
Service was slow. The food was fine but not remarkable. The music was loud.
Good food! Was a bit noisy because they had a DJ? which wasn’t advertised, I would’ve picked elsewhere for a date if I knew it would be loud!
We were seated for 20 minutes before anyone came over and even offered us water. We had to flag somebody down. They were very played and the waitress was amazing, food was good and manager did comp some items. Seems a little outdated seating not very comfortable overall. Food was very very good.
Generally, speaking the smell outside was like trash or rotting food. Panhandlers were pushing asking for money. Food was mediocre at best and should have left before eating as there are better food and definitely sushi options within a couple of miles of Kona.
I’ve been going every two weeks to go there But now are you guys change the prices So now I’m not going back with this crazy price
What is going on with Kona???? No food. No bar manager. No staff? Been going there since it opened. Hope it can find its way back.
Our waiter was fantastic. The margarita flight is amazing !
Services was exceptional by the staff. Everyone was really nice. Food was very good and I love coming to eat there on Saturday.
Great food and fun atmosphere. The avocado egg rolls were amazing. The salmon is wonderful and the sea bass is always a winner. Definitely delicious!
great food and service. We had a yellowtail tuna roll, grilled salmon, fried rice and brussel sprouts. All delicious! Would have liked a little more yellowtail in the roll.
Staff needs to be better trained.
At the booth with my family for my daughter’s birthday and left after when no one came by after 10-15mins.
Floors were so sticky it was hard to walk. Food overall was way below expectations and quality was terrible. Disappointing, as I use to always have great food and service here.
It was our first time there and the experience was great, food was superb.
Good place for a special occasion. Good service and food.
Waited 30 minutes at the table prior to getting waters or being acknowledged, when food came finally after we’d been there for an hour it was not what we ordered. Food was not good. We told the manager, while they tried to make it up, they had already given freebies to all the tables around us-apologizing profusely. Apparently we didn’t seem as annoyed as we were. We normally would not have dined here and we won’t go back.
This was one of the best experiences we have had dining out with a severe food allergy. No worries about ingredients, suggestions from the server, and customizations from the chef without worry - which is a huge deal for those of us with allergies! We didn’t even have to mention the allergen because they asked first thing. Top it off with exceptional food and you have the recipe for a perfect evening. Will definitely be back.
We arrived on time but were told “We don’t reserve tables; you’ll be out on a wait list in order.” Then how are they part of Open Table?? And I’ve never been told that in all these years. We were told to expect a 10-15 minute wait and it was no more than 10...but I’m disappointed with the “wait list” policy.
I had requested a booth but we were given a table...then she DID ask about an open booth that was nearby and reseated us. It is always very loud in the the restaurant and we find visiting difficult at a table; it’s slightly better at a booth.
The restaurant was miserably hot inside. We were quite uncomfortable. It WAS very hot out and I’m guessing they had an issue with the HVAC.
Our appetizer took much longer to arrive than normal and we weren’t finished when our food came out. The food was delicious as usual.
We were celebrating two birthdays and I’d indicated that on the reservation. We used to get a dessert with that. There was no acknowledgment. We were so hot that we were ready to leave anyway and didn’t ask.
Overall, we occasionally travel 6 hours to visit family in KC and traditionally eat at Kona on the last night. The food was very good. The overall experience was poor this time.
