Management appeared unhelpful to staff and disorganized. Seated 35 minutes after reservation time. Hot food took 30+ minutes to arrive at table. Barbie offered polite and apologetic service, as she knew things were running behind and not smoothly. I’ve fined at multiple Kona Grills in Arizona and always had a more elevated experience. This location seemed less professional than an applesbees.
Food was excellent, drinks are overpriced and watered down. Servers didn't really have assigned tables, so we felt shuffled around a bit with staff.
We always like the food at Kona Grill and it's great to have the outdoor seating area. However, the last couple of times we've gone there, the service has been spotty. The wait staff is slow to come by, orders are slow or mixed up, some come out sooner than others and there's not enough checking in with us for new drinks or to see if everything is okay. Wait staff-- please write down your orders and check in with us more! The food is always amazing though and the ambience is great. Parking is validated for two hours or less.
Great atmosphere and delicious food with hints of the islands.
Our server, Joy, was very attentive and amazing. We also met the Manager, Tommy, and he was a delight too. Everyone was so friendly- even with masks on. I feel like they went outta their way to provide great service. The food was awesome. We had a lot of the Happy Hour food, and everything was very filling. I can’t wait to go back again!
We went for my daughter's 10th birthday. Upon arrival we were told we would be sitting outside but not to worry because there are heaters. There were very limited heaters. I think that if you make a reservation, you should be told ahead of time if you will be seated outside, we were not expecting that. This was the least of the issues on this visit, though. We waited 20 minutes after being seated to be greeted by wait staff. It was noticed and we were comped dessert prior to being greeted, but was still quite frustrating. The food came out in batches. 2 meals then 10ish minutes later the other 2 meals. We were going to order dessert regardless because of the birthday, so we order dessert finally and ask for the check at the same time. One dessert came out 10 minutes later. The 2nd dessert we waiting another 15 minutes for - before it came out, we asked them to box it which took another 10 minutes. It was not an enjoyable experience at all. They clearly have staffing issues. 1 hour and 45 minutes for a family dinner is not acceptable at all. My daughter was not pleased that this was her birthday dinner and swore she would not choose Kona again. We used to frequent the restaurant but will definitely be thinking hard before coming back. I would have thought this far into their "new normal" that they would have figured it out. every other restaurant we have been to has been to during this Covid-era new normal has been fine.
It was really noisy by the kitchen, but the food and the service made up for that. We were there for happy hour, excellent value and really fresh fish.
Our waiter was outstanding! I wish I remembered his name because he has been our waiter in the past, and he truly makes the experience better!
It was a disappointment visit. It took forever to order, took forever for the food to come out. The food was not well presented, very small portion for $10 meal. It didn’t give me any special impression about this visit at all.
When your server comes out and says it’s gonna be 30-45 for dinner plates to come out you know it’s gonna be a bad experience
Lots of amazing sushi. If someone in your party doesn't like sushi there are plenty of other wonderful options.
I’m taking a moment of my day to actually right a review about this amazing night that Kona has provided to us. I booked the reservation at open table and I wanted to surprise my fiancé with a nice dinner. We just got engaged and we actually met at Kona grill and it was our first “anniversary” so we decided to have our dinner at the same place that we have met. In my reservation I asked if we could have flowers on the table and a bottle of champagne. When we got there everything was ready for us and we had the most amazing dinner! They were really nice to us and the service was also amazing! If I could I would give 100 starts to Theo staff and to this place! Door was also incredible and the desert was even better!
Food and service was excellent. We sat outside on the patio and it was pretty chill.
It was good!
Kona Grill is always great!
Still by far the best restaurant in Denver, in every way. Impeccable service, food, and atmosphere. Kona Grill is our happy place. :)
You have to go here for the Sushi! We gave tried various kinds and none have disappointed so far! Their calamari is also a delight! Love that even though the place is in Cherry Creek, it is always a relaxed ambiance and the staff is always pleasant and putting their best effort, even during this crazy pandemic! It is a bit pricey but overall, we believe it is worth the price because of the service!
Kona Grill has made some serious changes since covid19. It isn't in the best way. Prior to covid19, we were regulars. We have been going to Kona Grill for 11 years. However, the changes made to the menu and the service has been drastic in the negative direction. I am sad because we loved this place.
Beautiful restaurant, excellent food, great service. Friday night DJ, energetic, not quiet.
Thank you for the kind words, we pride ourselves on our vibe so this is great to hear! Looking forward to having you visit again soon :)
Great value! The salad with the Sushi and Salad was delicious and a very generous portion.
Met relatives from out of town Food was very good. Service was good and prompt. Sat outside for dinner. The noise level was a little to loud for conversations around the table.
We're so glad you chose to dine with us on this special occasion! Thank you for the kind words, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Made reservations several days ahead of time and requested outdoor seating. They told us there was not any outdoor seating available even though we could see many several open tables outside and a party that arrived after us got seated outside. Service was very slow & food was not worth the cost. Poke was $18 - but very small , mostly rice & very simple/bland.
Great Service and comfortable atmosphere. Happy Hour prices were pretty good too.
I like coming to Kona. Sushi is good and affordable
The hostess was so rude and mean, I had to get into a verbal argument with her and she flipped off my boyfriend !
The food, as usual was excellent. We had a new server, even new to industry, she was very well trained and was a pleasant addition to our dining experience. I should have gotten an extra order of Angry edamame to go! But we will settle for Butter cake!
Ordered ribeye steak. It was tough and hard to eat. No fat. Looked like a flank steak. Kitchen took 30+ min to bring entree.
I love this place always I love to come back ❤️I will recommend this place
Excellent sea bass, prepared perfectly every time!
Just great overall. No complaints
It took two hours from when we sat down for dinner to get our check. My sister got food poising from the calamari. The staff was very friendly and helpful but the service was not great. everyone. was very slow.
Went there for outdoor seating. The service was good. However, the food is pretty meh and over-priced. My salmon/tuna poke was ok, although the "greens" (lettuce) was odd. My daughter ordered a chicken dish. The chicken had a pequiliar chemical taste. We both took one bite and couldn't (wouldn't) eat another.
Great Happy Hour.
Loud music and lively place
The staff was phenomenal, personable, and fun. The entire experience was lovely, they made my friends birthday a memorable night. Thank you to the general manager Emile and Tristan the waiter! Thank you everyone 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I’ve gone to Kona in Kansas City for years, and since moving to Denver I’ve been to this location a couple times. I made a reservation the day before for the afternoon and asked to be sat on the patio. Unfortunately, we were running about 10-15 minutes behind so we called to let them know. We made sure we asked if that would be an issue which the host stayed it wouldn’t be. We got there and there were no tables on the patio open and no apology or offer to move us later on. It took about 15-20 minutes for a manager to come up and bring us waters, another 10-15 minutes to receive drinks. I’ve seen the restaurant busy before and unfortunately it wasn’t this time and yet still the slowest service we’ve received. The server finally came up after we ordered as much as we could with the manager but did not apologize just said, “I saw you guys ordered drinks, I was in the weeds, I’ll back..” she took so long to come back that we waved for the manager again to order some more food and drinks. The blender was broken, they ran out of a couple drinks we wanted but we still tried to make the best of it being that I had told my group who had never been there that they were the best. Our bill ended up being around $200 and we tipped 20% because not?.. we ended up leaving and grabbing dinner at another location and spent another $300 there. I was really trying to give all my money to Kona but unfortunately they were not prepared for that. Thanks to the manager though that didn’t have the suit coat on he was really trying.
Best sushi roll in Denver. Sorry Sushi Den.
The service was great and the so was the food!
Our server Gust continues to provide awesome friendly
Food was excellent but there was some miscommunication on the table we got sat at. We arrived early, had a reservation at 8, and was not sat down until 8:20. The host took us on the patio and the table wasn’t ready so we awkwardly sat there for 15 min. They did give us a free round of drinks, but expected better service and communication on there part as to which tables are open and clean. Guests shouldn’t be taken to table unless it’s ready. I had to walk around and speak to various people about when my table would be ready.
