Kingfish - New Orleans Ratings and Reviews
Served was very nice, but our (3 of us) food took close to an hour to arrive and 2 of our entrees were too dry to even eat. Unfortunate. It was a Tuesday night and mostly packed, but no excuse for the over cooked food. I forgot to mention that the manager did comp our entire check including drinks and was very apologetic, so I can’t say I wouldn’t go back.
Savory, palate-pleasing dishes. We had the jambalaya risotto, Creole paella, New Orleans scallops fettucine, alligator wings and Shrimp & Grits. All plates were licked clean. There were so many things on menu we wanted to try - highly recommend return trip!
Our meal was insanely rushed. We were given the bill before we were asked if we want desert or coffee. It had only been a half hour since we sat down. Then after we paid we went to sit at the bar. I went to use the bathroom and when I walked back to the bar the floor was wet and I slipped and fell into the bar...badly hurt my arm. Nobody came to help me ask if I was okay. AWFUL experience
We visited NO with our daughter and were looking for a French quarter resteraunt for shrimp and grits and were not disappointed with the recommendation from locals. Everything cooked to perfection and friendly attentive staff. Will visit again next time in NO.
WOW! i was really looking forward to dining here after friends of mine and my own job recommend it to me! I made reservations online (for 9:30pm) and when we got there we might have had a 10 minute wait-no problem. we sit down and ordered drinks, an app, and entree. as soon as we ordered, we got our drinks and our app. 30 minutes passed and we realized we hadnt gotten our order. the waitress realized we were waiting and came to apologize, and blamed it on the kitchen. i totally understand because i work in this industry too. all i wanted to know was how long did i have to wait to get my plate of pasta?? with 3 scallops!! the table next to us sat down after we did, got their order taken before us, and one of the guests even complained about their FISH plate and had it remade!!!!!! 10:55 we walk out. Have still not had my scallop pasta, but the manager did comp our bill. just drinks and an app. i was really upset, it ruined our entire night, and i still did not have my pasta! what a let down...
Lackluster meal. Had to wait several minutes for our reserved table. The hosts at the front actually seated another couple with no reservation ahead of us. Found out during dinner, as we were seated next to them, she works at the restaurant. Although our server was attentive, the food service was slow. That is a kitchen issue and not the server's fault. Also, it took 30 minutes to order a bottle of wine because the restaurant realized 20 minutes in they did not have said bottle. Overall the food was slightly above average. Would not return again.
I think I could really enjoy Kingfish, but I'll have to go back to be sure... The food was good. We shared the charcuterie board and I had the duck. Neither were "the best", but both were tasty. Cocktails were above average. (which is saying a lot in New Orleans). Service and ambience were the problem. We were in a room where the door to the street was left open. Temperature was OK, but it let some humidity and noise in. The biggest problem was there were 2 HUGE parties in our room. This made it loud enough that conversation was difficult. Service seemed a little slow and distracted. They didn't have the dessert I chose (from the menu). Luckily the host acknowledged the less than ideal experience and didn't charge us for our app or one of our drink rounds.
Overall, a very nice dining experience. We shared some delicious apps and all had good entrees. Our server was friendly and informative. My one complaint... one mussel in my paella was bad. Did not eat any more mussels (one bad, all bad). The rest of the dish was delicious.
I selected this restaurant for a business dinner while I was in New Orleans for a conference. It was on a list of gluten-free friendly restaurants and I thought it would be nice to try a local place. We thought it was okay but the food wasn't nearly as good as I would have expected giving the high ratings. I had the duck. It was okay, but it wasn't cooked enough on the outside - inside was fine. The sweet potatoes that came with it were excellent. The pan likely wasn't hot enough when it was cooked as it really couldn't have been cooked longer without overcooking the inside. Now, my mistake might have been ordering duck and in hindsight I probably should have gotten the fish. My colleague got the chicken and he said it was too salty. He thought the food was okay, but again expectations were higher.
The food and drinks were incredible. The cocktails especially. The fried chicken is unreal.
There was an issue with the timing on our entrees, so we were there an extra 20 minutes or so when we were itching to get out on the town. Our server was very new to the job, so that kind of thing can happen. She was nice and apologetic about it.
I recently had dinner at Kingfish on 10/7/17, the day Hurricane Nate was coming through the city, while on vacation with my girlfriend. I notified the host that I was going to propose to my girlfriend and the host coordinated with the waitress and manager to make sure the special moment was captured. I truly appreciated the help that I received from the staff to make the evening so special. The food was amazing and the wine/cocktail menu extensive. I most definitely recommend the restaurant for anyone visiting New Orleans!
Kingfish was our best meal in New Orleans this time around. It's a really loud place, unless you are lucky enough to have no boisterous parties near you. Fantastic cocktails, best boudin balls we have ever had, and the cracklin nachos were delightful. Service was perfect, not to intrusive and also attentive at the same time. Food pacing was spot on as well. Highly recommend.
My overall experience at Kingfish was phenomenal. Outstanding service and an incredible menu with a variety of different options. Their crab cake and fried chicken dishes were amazing and they had a great wine selection as well. Great location too. It's just down the street from Jackson Square. All in all, 10/10 experience.
Went for my son's 24th birthday with his friends. We had a great time and the staff was friendly and attentive. Really enjoyed the nachos that were done with cracklin instead of tortilla chips, but it is a sharing plate if you plan to try them. Kingfish also does a great job with alligator so I recommend trying alligator for the first time here. I also recommend trying a cocktail from the bar as the bartenders and the drink list are both unique and superb!
