$$$$Price: Very Expensive • Seafood • Key West
We recently visited this Japanese steakhouse in Key West, and while there were some highlights, overall it fell short of expectations. The food itself was good, and our server was excellent—friendly, attentive, and very helpful throughout the meal.
However, the wait time was frustrating. Even though we had a reservation, we waited over an hour before the chef finally came out to start cooking. That long of a delay really takes away from the experience, especially when dining with hungry teens.
There were also some unexpected extra charges. Unlike most hibachi restaurants, this one does not include fried rice as a standard part of the meal—it costs an additional $6.50 per person. On top of that, they wouldn't allow any substitutions, so when our teens wanted extra rice instead of vegetables, it simply wasn't an option. At other hibachi places we've visited, those kinds of swaps are usually no problem.
Because of the long wait and the extra costs for things that are typically included elsewhere, this will be a restaurant we skip on future trips to Key West.
