Ka'ana Kitchen at Andaz Maui
Our dishes are prepared using techniques from around the culinary world, but thought-out in accordance with our micro-climate. The way we prepare our fish, season our salads, and grill our meat depends not only on its origin, but what the weather tells us, how the swells on the ocean shape our mood, and how the land influences our feelings.
Here we hope to blur the lines between your kitchen and our restaurant, between what is external and what is internal. We invite you in, share our hopes, and create a unique dining experience that connects you to this place and its essence.

Everything was fabulous! Loved the open kitchen!
Really appreciate the excellent service we got from Carli! She was smart, witty and attentive! Carli really made our experience over the top!
Great spot, good service but small portions.
Beautiful, delicious, romantic, inventive dishes, lovely service, memorable.
Second time there in a week. See my earlier glowing review. The place is great. Quiet outdoors, beautiful views of pools and ocean, great service where no request is refused. And, oh yeah, delicious food. Can’t wait to return.
Had poke starter and beet salad. Poke was seared and cooked at table on hot iron pan with fresh mushrooms and onions. Thus you could limit the cooking of the fish and keep it more rare or cool it longer, up to you. Beet salad has beets and greens separated which I also enjoyed more than having them mixed together with dressing.
No room for dessert;sadly missed chocolate soufflé !
This has become one of our Maui favorites. Great attentive service. Generally excellent food. Gorgeous views of sunset and ocean. Try the watermelon salad and the ahi tuna.
Opentable claims that this restaurant is $$$ “between $30 and $50”. Cannot be farther from the truth. It is a very expensive restaurant, that delivers a high end experience.
This was a favorite restaurant until we went for New Years Eve. There was no mention when we booked that it would be a set menu of $180 per person. There was no price on the fixed price menu at the table. Had we known, we would have walked out; I fully expect that this was the reason for not letting the public know. The hot food was cold and the cold food was uninspiring. It was as if had been pre-prepared and reheated or left to sit. For a family of 4 with a bottle of wine it was over $1000 - an exorbitant price for a mediocre meal. As one couple who passed by our table said, "Well, I guess we'll be eating tinned tuna for the rest of the vacation..." An 18% gratuity for four people was also added - it was hidden among the lines of the bill and not noticed by us nor pointed out by the server. Unfortunately we tipped on top of that. It was not a pleasant experience and brought a great deal of unhappiness to an occasion that should have been the start of a wonderful new year.
Food was mediocre even by regular menu standards; it was an extreme disappointment for a new years eve tasting menu that was over $500 for the two of us
I made the reservation on open table and no where was I notified that it was pre fixe that night. There were no prices on the menu so I didn’t know what we were in for until we got the bill. 2 adults, some drinks and a kids menu item was almost $600. I could have stayed in Hawaii 2 days longer for that price! The food and service was great though.
Outstanding in every respect.
I’ve eaten here about 4 times now, coming back every time I visit Maui. The food is consistently delicious every time. It has gotten quite crowded over the years and a lot louder. Service seems rushed to accommodate with the crowd. It’s not as relaxing and enjoyable.
Great service, excellent food, nice ambiance. Highly recommend.
Unfortunately, our experience wasn’t great. We told our waiter that one of us is Celiac, but she was served gluten. Another person in our part order the steak that was supposed to be 6 oz, but was more 3-4 oz. The manager offered to supplement the meat after we complained, but we declined the offer. The rest of the meal was simply ok.
We had very early reservations, so we had a nice seat overlooking the water. The service in the beginning was excellent. Very attentive and helpful with the menu and wine selections. I had the Mahi Mahi and my husband had the chicken. Both were prepare very well. We had a wonderful wine, as their wine list is huge. The dessert was disappointing, it was the kind of a deconstructed tiramisu. Service slowed down as the restaurant got very busy. However, it was a very nice night and great food..
Our food and service was outstanding. I wish we were staying longer so we could have visited the restaurant again.
We have been so happy with our holiday dinner pick at the Ka'ana Kitchen. I have food sensitivities - gluten free- and the menu gives me so many options. We had the Christmas Dinner this year and I was delighted to be able to have just about everything. My hat off to the chefs for creating such a masterful feast. ALOHA from two very satisfied Kamahainas.
Horrible experience not only did we have to wait
Absolutely amazing! We have dined at 8 other high end restaurants in Wailea, but the food and ambiance at Ka’Ana stood out dramatically. We had the Ahi (entree and appetizer), the Wagyu beef, and the squid salad, all absolutely amazing. The chocolate desert was to die for. Lastly the live music topped everything off beautifully. Can’t wait for our next trip to Maui to dine at Ka’ana again.
Amazing food and atmosphere. We were so impressed, we’re going back to try more of their outstanding dishes. This speaks volumes as, sadly, we are only spending a week here in Wailea.
Everything was amazing at Ka'ana Kitchen, but our favorites was the Ahi Tataki, Octopus Salad, Pork Belly and Hanger Steak. I think whatever you order, you can't go wrong.
The staff was super nice and attentive! The food was beyond amazing! The cocktails and desserts are a must!! Thank you for making our anniversary dinner one to remember!
Yes, I would recommend Ka'ana Kitchen; but with reservations. My motto has always been: you can get it good, you can get it fast, or you can get it cheap--pick two. In this case it was pick one.
The food was excellent. We arrived at 6:45 on time for our reservation. It was 7:15 before my husband received his cocktail. It was 2 and 1/2 hours before we were able to ask for our check. It was not understaffed. There were plenty of workers, especially if your job was to fill the water glass. Example: We were promptly greeted at the door by a hostess with an I-pad checking us in. Then we waited around for someone to seat us. Two people to do the job of one. Our waiter showed, then promptly disappeared, and kept doing so. Food runners---I have yet to really accept if this is a good thing. Some stranger comes from the kitchen and puts your plate in front of you. Your server is nowhere to be seen. 5 minutes later you get up to go find someone to get you some chopsticks or whatever else you may need. At ten minutes your server appears to see how things are going. Meanwhile your water glass has been filled two more times, because apparently that is more important than anything else here.
Be prepared for a large bill. Be prepared for a confusing menu that doesn't need to be. In the attempt at being "cool" they have a flower icon key to the menu items, and categories without explanation unless you ask. It's also hard to read because it is printed on a dark buff piece of paper. (There is no Kama'aina discount if you are a local by the way.)
But again; the food is really good. It is a pity it was $273 for two entrèes, two appetizers and two desserts. Beverages: coffee, two glasses of wine, two Margaritas. I'll come again during Restaurant week when it should be more affordable. I seriously don't know how a young couple can manage these prices.
Some of the dishes were great -some just all right. Wagyu beef was tough - how is that possible? Hush puppies were doughy. The salad was fresh and nice. The setting is lovely. I would recommend this to others with reservations.
Food was average for the price. Quite unusual food combinations on the plate. Small portions and the Wine list is expensive. Went away hungry and unsatisfied. Read good reviews but did not come anywhere near to what we were to believe. Don’t recommend it.
When we travel, we often search for well prepared meals with quality ingredients. The menu is simple, the kitchen is open, the service is attentive, and the preparation is outstanding. We ate here twice and execution was consistent. The desserts were a nice surprise. The pavlova and matcha ice cream was the best plant based dessert we’ve had. Highly recommend the restaurant.
All around very good!
Very welcoming and relaxed pacing
Excellent food but you should know that if you are not staying at the Andaz that you will be put in the worst tables in the restaurant. Prime patio seating for hotel guests only despite booking reservation over 6+ weeks ago. Other than that unpleasant realization, the food is incredible.
The fried chicken and Scallop Risotto were both absolutely amazing. Would totally make the trip back just for those 2 entrees!
ambiance, attentive professional service, food quality and creativity exceptional. must go to while on Maui
We dine out in Wailea 100+times every year. Ka'ana Kitchen continues to be one of our favorite places for quality casual/upscale dining. Very interesting menu, excellent service, wonderful atmosphere--be sure to request an outside table!
We arrived an hour before our reservation time hoping to get to bed early (time change was a challenge). A friend in our group had recommended this restaurant highly after her experience earlier in the week. Ours was beyond expectations. We had an outside corner table with ocean sunset view and a server named Carly who made us feel more like friends than patrons. Being gluten-free, our options are pretty stale at most restaurants. Here we had the opportunity to experience fried chicken and waffles!! The fried chicken was cornflake coated and the waffle was mochi (rice cake) that was as flavorful as the best doughnut experience ever. Unforgettable!
Food was good but not stellar and was significantly overpriced. We were seated on the balcony overlooking the bar/pool area which was crowded with drunk people watching a football game and yelling loudly, which kind of ruined the romantic vibe the place otherwise might have had. Our server was attentive.
Fantastic food and ambiance. Loved our outdoor table!
This was our second time at Ka’ana Kitchen and it was just as amazing as we remembered. The portions are great and there’s such a perfect variety of flavors - everyone is bound to be happy. The service was also spectacular! This place is a must.
