JP23 BBQ & Smokehouse is the place to go in Fullerton, California for sports events, nightlife, daily specials and a menu large enough to please everyone. From the appetizers through the NFL Sunday buffet, nobody leaves JP23 BBQ & Smokehouse hungry.
It is impossible to ignore the appetizer menu with choices like smokin BBQ tacos, smoked artichoke dip, Southwestern BBQ rolls and the owners favorite, poutine, which is Quebec cheese curds in a homemade brown gravy, with the option to add one of three types of meat. That doesnt even count the famous wings that are cooked low and slow with 13 flavors to choose from including a chef inspired weekly sauce. Those brave enough can opt for the ghost buster sauce so hot youll need to sign a waiver! JP23 BBQ & Smokehouse serves up great food and incredible entertainment.
Went for all-you-can-eat Sunday BBQ Brunch, good value overall. Place has like 40 TV'S showing all the NFL games + 1 big screen/projection tv. Volume all the way up on 2 or 3 of them, makes conversation almost impossible on the bar side of the room. Nearly no nearby streetside parking, have to park in public parking structure 1 block south and walk over. Very good brisket and ribs, nice beer selection, can add on bottomless mimosa's for $10 extra. Mixed crowd, college age and families. A little raucous and rowdy during games.
The food presentation was not great. The food was good. Presenting themselves as a bbq spot for brunch was odd you didn't smell bbq walking in. The presentation and portion of the desserts were very poor. They sliced their cake and cheesecake so thin it literally was a sliver and they put it on a baking pan with wax sheet . The churros were delicious. The champagne was ok it needed to be chilled. Our server was very attentive .
I seen the post on facebook and it looked like a great place to go on date. I was devastated when I paid for the Buffet and the food was not good at all. I would go back just for the if anything.
Great sport bar. I like that they take reservation but they need to let customers know they charge a $5 dollar reservation fee per person. Very friendly staff. Food was great. Mix drinks are under poor. One thing they need to do is keep up with restroom cleanliness thru out the night time.
The only problem is ribs should be cooked in sauce and not sauce added later. Flavor needs to sink in. Putting cold sauce on hot ribs is not how to make ribs.
BBQ was outstanding. Huge selection of tap beers. I won't wait long before I return again.
This is the place to go if you want to watch sporting events especially pay per view events
the food is amazing, but it is very expensive
The Sunday brunch was amazing, I did wish they had more of a selection on the sides.
Had a nice BBQ lunch. Small crowd at the noon time. Probably a better place to watch a sporting event with friends.....they have like 40 TV's in the place
We picked the wrong night to go. JP23 was celebrating their 3rd year anniversary with a very loud live band. The owner provided a full buffet of food but we found the food not that appealing. The ribs were cooked perfect but lacked flavor; flavor/sauces was provided in plastic bottles to drizzle over the ribs.
This is supposedly a jam-packed sports bar/BBQ restaurant near Cal State Fullerton that advertises a lot on TV, so we decided to try it out, along with my daughter and her husband. Our reservation was for a Sunday evening at 6:30, so we arrived expecting to find a noisy, raucus college crowd, but instead there were only about a dozen patrons. The staff consisted of (I assume) the manager, who took our wine order and said that our server would be with us shortly. We ordered a bottle of wine and when the manager brought it to the table, the wine glasses looked and felt like they had not been washed. One even had a sticky stem. The one server was in no hurry to take our order, although she was knowledgeable about the menu and helped us through the convoluted Sunday "all you can eat" special, which both our guests ordered. I ordered ribs, with a side of mashed potatoes. My order arrived with a side of asparagus. I decided to just accept it as delivered, as the server was nowhere to be seen for ten minutes. The food was passable in terms of quantity and flavor, but both the ribs and the asparagus were only lukewarm. The server came by once to ask if everything was okay. Later, after we finished eating, we would have liked to have ordered another round of drinks, but again she was nowhere to be seen. The next time we saw her she was bringing the check.
This might be a vibrant place for college kids during the week, but suffice to say we have crossed it off our list. They can do much better, and have a great location, so I hope they get their act together. It was, at most, a two star experience, and rather disappointing at that. So we're not recommending it.
Service was friendly, but slow. Restaurant ran out of artichoke dip, iced tea and black beans. Meals were delivered to the table approx. 30 minutes apart. A Southwestern chicken salad arrived with not black beans or chicken. A 3-meat combo arrived with only 2 meats. A 2-meat combo arrived with no side. Food was cold (especially the sweet potato fries). Overall a total mess.
Took 45 minutes to get our dinner... appetizer wings came out fast, dry, and burnt. 85 dollars for 2 plates and 3 beers with long waits and not that good of looking watresses
Sports! Sports! Sports!
Excellent swervice! Food was just so-so. We got the four meat plate, which obviously came with generous portions of meat and sides, but the meat and sides were just medicore.
A wide variety of BBQ served with 3 different styles of BBQ sauces. Portions are generous. Sides are very good and included. Very wide selection of beers. Service was excellent. A great place to hang out with friends and co-workers and watch sports on the many waide screen TVs.
We went for the MMA fight. The beef ribs were so bad we couldn't eat them and I eat anything!!! The TV's kept cutting in and out so we eventually left to catch the fight somewhere else and the staff spent more time talking to each other (more of them then customers) then waiting on us. Absolutely horrible. Place is huge and looks cool to bad it's NOT!
We dined here on Valentines day and I wondered why there was plenty of room available on the same day I made the reso. Well for a BBQ joint the food was quite lousy and the service was very sub par, hardly anyone there!
