About Jose Muldoon's - East
We are excited to bring Jose Muldoon’s, which has been a staple of the Springs' downtown scene for over thirty years to the east side. The menu features authentic Tex-Mex style Mexican fare, the best margaritas and a variety of burgers, sandwiches, salads and vegetarian entrees. We serve our famous cuisine using only the freshest ingredients, all prepared daily.
José Muldoon's, named after the legendary bandito, has been modeled with a modern southwestern look, inviting fireplaces, an indoor/outdoor dining section including a bar, HD television visible from any spot in the bar area and semi-private banquet dining. José's service staff is always friendly and efficient. We are proud to be the now more easily accessible favorite Tex-Mex destination in Colorado Springs.

Jose Muldoon's - East Ratings and Reviews
Although a few minutes early, we were seated within moments of our arrival. We opted for the verandah, which was wonderful as it was much quieter. It was not hot, as some might expect. The service was great and the food was good. I do have an issue with paying a surcharge for the spicy salsa; that was not expected. The sopapillas were overcooked and not worth the effort. Overall, this was still a very pleasant experience.
I love that we can ask for a quieter area on OpenTable. We had a chance to catch up with a good friend. We went early enough for happy hour margaritas and less expensive appetizers, so I just made a meal of appetizers (queso and quesadillas). Yum! I like this Jose's better than the downtown, because there is free parking!
We used to go to Muldoon's East every Monday - 4 adults and 1 child. Then they had flat beer and not good service, so we went elsewhere. We gave them another chance and they were good again. This past visit was not good. We had three different kinds of beer and they were all FLAT. We complained and they brought replacements. They were marginally better but not much. We even had explained to us that one of the beers was not very effervescent to begin with. Yeah - we know what's it's supposed to taste like, we've had it before. Service was excellent from our waitress but if you go somewhere for beer, you want to enjoy it. Food was not very hot when we got it. Guess we'll be going elsewhere again.
Jose Muldoons is an above average Mexican restaurant with very good food, friendly helpful staff. The margaritas are very good. It can be very loud at times, seating is plentiful and they have a good bar with multiple TVs and an impressive tequila selection.
Ashley screwed up several of our orders, then acted like she'd try to be nice and have the incorrect ones taken off. Manager came out to discuss it with us and argued with us about what the orders should have been. We go almost every week so are kind of familiar with the happy hour menu. Only one order was correct out of four and we just ate some of the others because it was easier. Manager did take off some charges but looking over it later we only came out about the same moneywise as we should have - except we didn't get what we wanted to eat. We are thinking we'll try somewhere else for a while. Ashley was congenial but never actually apologized for ruining our evening.
We went to this restaurant to get a night away to talk and requested a romantic table. The hostess was great and found us a table right next to a gas fireplace - she even turned it on for us! The waitress was really great, attentive, and friendly. It happened to be happy hour which means that Margarita's were only $3 and my wife said it was tasty. The chips and salsa were only fair. My wife got al la carte enchiladas and tortilla soup while I got a fajita burrito with rice and beans - the burrito was covered in chili con queso, which I really love! Overall, we'd both say that the food was tasty and reasonably priced, especially considering we had living social deal that gave us $10 off. We'd go back because of the ambiance and the decent food, which reminded me of home in Texas.
When we book with Open Table we are always seated immediately. This night we had perhaps the best service we have ever had. There have been times when we couldn't say that! Our server was also the bartender (tall dark haired male). He was excellent and not only took care of the bar but gave us SUPER service. He was assisted by a female bartender (neither gave us their names). They both took great care of us and the food was good, too! Great service can make up for mediocre food, but in this case both were good.
I totally love double dipping at this restaurant. We get rewards from Open Table and rewards from the Locals (frequent eater) card. How spectacularly fun is that? Plus, we got there just before 7 pm and were able to slide in some orders for Happy Hour. Overall, a great experience!
We eat here about once a month and usually have a good experience. The house margaritas are not good at all. They are tempting to buy during happy hour, but it is definitely worth paying to upgrade to a premium margarita. Our favorite is the Volcano. It is meant for two so unless you have someone else driving you, don't try to drink it alone. It has approximately 6 shots of premium alcohol and tastes great. It is served in a large 26 oz. glass. The service here is good. You will not have to wait long and there are usually plenty of chips and salsa to keep you occupied until your food comes out. They give big portions and the prices are reasonable. If you don't want to take some food home with you, you may try just sharing a plate.
I signed up for OpenTable on our way to pick up our friend. Great dedicated parking compared to the downtown location. We were seated immediately upon arrival. It's so awesome that our waitress introduced herself as she deposited chips and salsa on our table. We went in a little early (about 30-minutes before happy hour: 4-7 pm, 11 pm-close). We put in our orders and our waitress remembered and brought us our happy hour goodies as soon as happy hour started. My husband and I split a Chicken Topolobampo (really awesome burrito thing) and swapped out the chile with chile con queso. The waitress brought us an extra plate. Afterwards, we stuck around and caught up with our friend. We signed up for the Local and Loyal reward club (basically $10 back for every $100). I'm very happy with the rewards, happy hour, food, and service.
Our waitress was okay but so overwhelmed that the service we received was horrible. It took us 3-4 times of asking to get anything. The tacos were soggy and watery, the kids nachos were so burned they were inedible, the chip baskets were half full of slivers of tortilla chips, and by the time we left we felt like our waitress hated us. It was pretty awesome. We won't be back for Taco Tuesday. We may try it again but it won't be for a while. This location used to be great. I don't know what happened.
The food here is consistent and worthy of a visit by itself. The house margaritas may be tempting at happy hour, but they are not worth it. Get a premium or at least a hand poured margarita. The Volcano is a margarita to be shared, but a good value for the money.
My friends and I go to Jose's a lot! We love their lunch specials. Especially Mondays (Topolobampo and free house margarita) and Tuesdays ($1.25 taco with purchase) The service is usually superb. The host is always very friendly and quick to find us the perfect table. Sometimes, we have a very large group, but they always have been able to accommodate us. Occasionally, we will have small children, and this has not been a problem. My husband and I like to go to the downtown location (especially on a sunny Sunday) and enjoy their brunch or lunch out on the patio. A free drink comes with some of the brunch items on Sunday morning. A large group of us came in the evening last summer and enjoyed their happy hour bar and dinner out on the patio.
We were glad we booked on OpenTable because there was quite a wait when we arrived, but we we seated immediately. It was the end of happy hour when we say down so we had the house margarita. It tasted like lime kool-aid. We opted to try the Volcano Margarita which is a 30 ounce top shelf margarita and it was very good. We shared the one and it was plenty for us. The chili rellaños were good, full of cheese. The beef burrito was just OK and my wife loved her cheese enchiladas. Great service and attentive staff. We will return but not have the house margaritas again.
