The original Johnny's serving fine Northern Italian Cusine. Opening in the 1920’s as Louise’s Garden, a restaurant that would flourish into the most reputable dining establishment in Cleveland. Renamed Johnny’s Bar in 1952, this neighborhood eatery located on Fulton Road serves authentic Italian food in an inviting atmosphere with private dining and patio dining available weather permitting.

We were there for lunch, there were eight of us, Emma our waitress was excellent, beautiful, courteous, very helpful young lady. Six Of us had the fillet two of us had the grouper. Well enjoy and lunches maybe just a little too much pepper on the freeway in and let it already has four to be degrees for us but all in all everything was excellent.
I would give 6 stars....great food, outstanding service
I have been a customer of Johnnys Bar for many years and love it here very time I go there . The dining experience is consistently awesome .. great food , great staff .
I would highly recommend Johnnys
great place, great food, great service. Never misses the mark.
Fantastic Lamb shank and filet mignon. Will be going back for our anniversary. Five stars!!!
Great food and service. Top of my list of favorite restaurants in Cleveland.
Server Linda was fantastic. Veal is some of the best in Cleveland. Shrimp angel hair appetizer with capers was awesome, could have made a great entree. Good bread, attentive bartender. Highly recommend.
The food was simply amazing. The waiter was very knowledgeable. Great atmosphere
The best restaurant in Cleveland. Outstanding every time
awesome food, we went on the recommendation of a friend.
We were not disappointed. The food and wine was super good.
I have been going to Johnny’s on Fulton for 30 years—always outstanding food. I almost always get Pasta Putanaise. Historically the portions were very large and I always had enough to take home. The taste always has been and was on 8/25/18 outstanding. However, the portion size for what I received on 8/25/18 was one-half the normal size. Our table had two dinner orders of Pasta Putanaise and both were half size, appetizer size, portions. This was extremely disappointing. The server gave us a free piece of cheesecake for the small potions—which was also outstanding. A nice gesture but I would have preferred normal size portions. I love this place but half size portions is extremely disappointing, especially for the price I paid.
great ...as always....have been a patron for about 20 years!
Great food, noisy and interesting clientele. We’ve been coming here for 20 years. Menu is mostly unchanged:-). Sweetest server ever!
Last night was my second visit to Johnny’s in a year. I didn’t find them friendly the first time and this time was no different.
I went there on high recommendation from friends While the food was decent I don’t feel welcome there.
Both times they put me and my husband in the back room so that I don’t interfere with the typical demographic of their clientele. I’ve asked to be seated in the main room and outside and refused both times.
I won’t be going back. It is too expensive of a restaurant to have this experience of not being wanted.
Johnny's on Fulton is my favorite restaurant, and we go there whenever there is something to celebrate. Last weekend we took the parents of our new daughter-in-law to celebrate the recent wedding. We sat on the patio which was quaint, charming, and the weather was perfect. Our new 'family' love frog legs, and they believe Johnny's are the best in Cleveland. The only problem with the evening was the service. Our drink order was taken within reason, but then it went downhill from there. It took forever to order, forever to get our food, forever to get more water, etc. There looked like 3 waiters working outside, and we saw the other 2 ten times for every one we saw ours. We would have had dessert but it took so long to find out what they had (because he had to go find out and we never did find out, come to think of it), that we just asked for the check. It took very nearly 3 hours and I cannot sit that long without being very uncomfortable. We would have said something to someone if we had been able to find someone. I don't understand how a fine establishment like that managed to hire someone like that waiter, nor do I understand why there wasn't some sort of apology from him or a manager when things were running so slowly. He must have known we were getting perturbed and it was taking an awfully long time. Anyway, the food was great, and we would have loved a piece of their epic carrot cake if we had a waiter that was up to the caliber that we have come to expect there.
I feel like Johnny’s needs a bit of a facelift. We ate on the patio which was a pretty setting but the wait staff looked worn and tired, uniforms sloppy, service was average. Also kind of tired of their menu, some of the classics are good, duck app, veal (although one of our chops was extremely fatty), grouper. Some new items would be nice. Sometimes salads don’t seem very fresh. I’ve been dining st Johnny’s for about 20 years and feel like the quality is not what it used to be.
Love this place. So many great things to choose from and the service was excellent. Well worth the money!
The food never disappoints! We have eaten at Johnny’s many times and have always had fantastic meals.
The menu is varied and interesting - one of the few restaurants in our estimation where it is difficult to decide what to order as everything looks fantastic!
The power went out during our dinner and we were informed that none of the entrees could be fired. So we had to leave before anyone received any food.
Wine was delicious however and service was great.
We love Johnny’s restaurant ! The food , wine , atmosphere is outstanding ! We dined on the patio , we highly recommend it if it’s Available. We drive from the East side of town for dinner there , well worth the drive !!
We sat outside which is beautiful, unfortunately there was a table of men smoking cigars the whole evening. Kinda ruined the ambience.
Service was on the slow side, took 40 minutes to get a bottle of wine.
Food was pretty good, but a couple of the dishes were ordered medium and came out over cooked.
Probably not rushing back
The service was incredible, as was the food. Our waiter (I forget his name but he mentioned having a few young grandchildren and working every day for the past 3 weeks if that helps..) was OUTSTANDING! Very knowledgeable on the food, and especially the wine. He even gave us some suggestions of off- the - menu wine options within our budget that were amazing! He is unmatched in customer service, he made it a great, and customized experience for us.
Service was slow and acoustics in side room are horrible.
While our overall experience was fine, the only thing I could speak highly of is the food. Our server took a long time to bring us menus, and we only got them when we asked for them. Then, the server completely forgot to give us our appetizer. We asked him about it when he brought our dinner out without ever bringing the appetizer, and it took him a second to remember what we were talking about. He was very nice and gave us dessert on the house to make up for it, but our overall impression was not high. The food was fantastic, but it is not an inexpensive restaurant so we would go somewhere else for our next special occasion and fine dining when we want to spend the money.
It was lovely outside.
Always top notch food. Just expect to pay for it. I go there for dinner knowing it's going to end up being ~$100/person. Definitely not the same as Johnny's Downtown. Fulton location is WAAAY better, no comparison.
Two of us dined.
2 appetizers. (watermelon salad, peppercorn crusted duck breast)
4 drinks. (Hendricks & tonic, Titos & tonic, Tom Collins, black coffee)
2 entrees. (Surf & Turf, Filet au poivre)
1 dessert. (bananas foster)
$218 + $20 tip.
Food and service were excellent, as in the past. very busy inside and out. Nice to see, the classics still attract.
Celebrating 40th wedding anniversary with friends; the veal dishes were outstanding. Service was great. Always a great place
We thought it was ok. The food was good, but not mind blowing good. There is a good variety on the menu and this is your place if you like veal! But there is fish, chicken, seafood and pasta too. The slicy pasta was good, but the pasta was a bit sticky. Our waiter was great. We had requested a patio table in our Open Table reservation but were seated inside.
Always outstanding! Food is amazing. Great wine list. Experienced knowledgeable servers.
Even with reservation we had to wait to be seated and told the kitchen was very busy so our entire order had to be placed at once. Appetizer was very small for the price. All the good was excellent though. Very noisy until half the tables emptied then it was reasonable. Still would recommend just know what you are in for.
Wow - what can I say? Johnny's Bar has the BEST food, drinks, and service on the west side of Cleveland!
A friend recommended Johnny's and it turned out to be fantastic. An old fashioned "joint" with great music playing, terrific service and outstanding food. Anyone going to Cleveland should make this a must stop.
The patio was great. Pleasant setting with plenty of shade. Our waiter, Tony, was very helpful. He answered our questions and made very good suggestions. The drink I ordered needed mint, Tony picked fresh mint from the patio garden!
We were disappointed. This is usually a special place, but this time it was overly crowded and disorganized resulting in mediocre food and poor service. We were seated about 45 minutes later than our reservation and the food was cold. They’ve lost their cache in our book and we doubt we’ll go back.
The food was very good, and our waitress was knowledgeable about menu. Have been here before and was impressed by the outdoor dining area, which I had not previously experienced. It was very busy, although it was Saturday night.
We had an 8PM reservation, and did not get seated until 8:45. Our reservation had specified indoors, as the weather forecast originally called for rain. Being seated outside was ultimately fine, but still took 45 minutes to get a compromised seating arrangement. Our waitress was clearly doing her best, but still took a substantial amount of time to get menus and drinks. It also took an extraordinary amount of time for our appetizers, salads, and main entrees to arrive. We did not finish with dinner until 11:30PM, from an original 8PM reservation.
We learned that the issue was reportedly due a large private party booked in the overflow room, which was supposedly abnormal for Saturday nights. I cannot fault the food or the table service, but do think that management is responsible for controlling the bandwidth required to properly serve its customers. Either our reservation exceeded their capacity due to an existing large party, or the large party was added above and beyond what the kitchen, bar, and wait staff were already committed to serving.
We will come back, as the food, ambiance, and classic nature of this Cleveland restaurant are something we have always enjoyed. I think we will be more cautious about what night we make reservations, as this time our reservation did not seem to represent a two-way commmittment.
Johnny's has consistently presented excellent food particularly the home made pastas. Martinis were exceptional!
The only complaint was the loud environment. We found that people at other tables were literally shouting to be heard. Is it the acoustics or is it the clientele??? It was not pleasant. We love Johnny's but the noise level is disturbing.
We live in Savannah,Ga and we tell our friends how good the dining is at Johnny’s. We always look forward to eating there when we go north. Salute. Corky and Barbara. Hughes
This is the best restaurant in Cleveland.
Celebrating my husband's birthday and read about Johnny's in The Plain Dealer and wanted to try it. Well worth the drive from Twinsburg Valet parking was great due to limited on street parking and pouring down rain. Don't be fooled by the exterior of the building. The interior is upscale.
Waitress was phinominal. Since it was our first time she went through the history and took extra time with the menu and specials.
We even ordered the appetizer special of scallops (that were excellent) and we don't usually order appetizers. My husband had the Walleye and I had the Filet Mignon even though they are known for their Veal dishes. Both were excellent choices. You even get a salad with your meal at no extra charge. We did split a piece of Chocolate Amaretto Cheesecake for dessert. Each of us had a glass of wine with dinner.
Con: Was the noise level. We had 6:00 pm reservations so the first part of our dinner we could easily converse. The rest of the evening was a bit more difficult.
