The original Johnny's serving fine Northern Italian Cusine. Opening in the 1920’s as Louise’s Garden, a restaurant that would flourish into the most reputable dining establishment in Cleveland. Renamed Johnny’s Bar in 1952, this neighborhood eatery located on Fulton Road serves authentic Italian food in an inviting atmosphere with private dining and patio dining available weather permitting.

Celebrating my husband's birthday and read about Johnny's in The Plain Dealer and wanted to try it. Well worth the drive from Twinsburg Valet parking was great due to limited on street parking and pouring down rain. Don't be fooled by the exterior of the building. The interior is upscale.
Waitress was phinominal. Since it was our first time she went through the history and took extra time with the menu and specials.
We even ordered the appetizer special of scallops (that were excellent) and we don't usually order appetizers. My husband had the Walleye and I had the Filet Mignon even though they are known for their Veal dishes. Both were excellent choices. You even get a salad with your meal at no extra charge. We did split a piece of Chocolate Amaretto Cheesecake for dessert. Each of us had a glass of wine with dinner.
Con: Was the noise level. We had 6:00 pm reservations so the first part of our dinner we could easily converse. The rest of the evening was a bit more difficult.
Johnny's Bar on Fulton has exceptional food, quality service, and the patio is an excellent setting on a hot summer's day in Cleveland. Everything we tried had that "made-from-scratch" homemade flavor, including the caesar dressing and the marinara sauce. The little things like the perfectly soft butter and warm bread, or the generously strong drinks, make the difference between good and great. My wife was celebrating her birthday and was given a giant piece of chocolate take which was enough to share between 4 people. We ordered the Italian Feast pasta dish, Filet of Beef au Poivre, Rigatoni with meatballs, and the Veal Scaloppini, and all 4 of us were beyond impressed and satiated with what we devoured. I would also like to give special recognition to the congenial valet driver. There is not a single negative thing I can say about this place. You get what you pay for and you'll be anxious to return to this Cleveland gem!
This was my first time and it was everything that I expected. Everything was delicious
Waiter was great! Thanks!
Great food and service. Waiter went the extra mile to cater to our needs. Food was outstanding. Portions were just right. Patio is lovely and relaxing
We were celebrating two birthdays, one being for an eighty year old.
We were made to feel special.
The food and drinks were outstanding.
Roy, our waiter, was personable and accommodating.
All the meals were delicious!
Great dining experience.
We went to Johnny's to celebrate a birthday. The Food was outstanding, and service was good!
They were not serving the frog legs our night and I was totally bummed out! Johnny's is one of my favorite restaurants in Cleveland. Hopefully next time I'll catch the frog legs!
Incredible atmosphere outside with wonderful service!
DELICIOUS as always. Disappointed though.. hostess greeting not very welcoming. Had outdoor reservations it was raining when arrived , although they had table in overflow room she didn't seem pleased by us not wanting to be outside. It felt as if it has lost the Upscale restaurant feel. Outstanding waitress made up for the odd seating and lack of ambiance.
Our favorite place for special occasions. Veal chop was amazing. Fish special was great. Best carrot cake around.
Dylan our waiter was great. The owner and the rest of the staff rounded out a pleasant afternoon.. outdoor dining setting is worth endulging
Celebrating our 30 th Anniversary. The chef prepared a meal for my wife that was not in the menu.
It was excellent. They are always willing to accommodate.
Great food and ambiance 👍👍 Still serving up delicious food and solid service as well as a friendly dining experience. !
Johnny’s Bar is one of our longtime favorites. Ricky is an awesome server and the food is always top shelf. Highly recommended!
One of the top 5 restaurants in cle. Their patio is amazing!
Food was all fresh and perfectly prepared. Presentation was excellent. I believe we arrived at the peak of a busy period - our service was a bit slow at the outset. We were all very pleased with our entrees. Cost for 3 with one round of drinks (no wine) was $150.00.
Absolutely fantastic Mother’s Day Brunch. Relaxing environment, lots of delicious buffet selections and entrees made it a really special dining experience.
Great meal and service. Old school Cleveland restaurant. My place I take out of towners and my mother for Mother’s Day.
As always, the food and service are both superb. Thanks for comping us a free round of drinks due to delayed seating. Have already mentioned this on Trip Advisor. The tuna and walleye were wonderful preparations as was the crusted lamb chops! See you soon...outside next time.
Food and service was excellent! Seating was a bit cramped. Highly recommend.
Great, Ricky was our server. Provides great service and manages your dinner from beginning to end!
Wonderful food (filet au poivre and seafood pasta). Excellent service and a retro feel that we like very much. One of our go to places for fine dining. Prices quite fair.
I grew up and live on the East side and have always heard good things about Johnny's on Fulton. After that meal last night I have to say it is well worth the drive. Party of 4 and everyone loved their selection, we sampled everything from the duck app, the stuffed peppers, the shrimp over polenta, cold smoked filet, long bone veal chop, and 2 pasta dishes paired with a couple bottles of wine. I'm not sure there is a bad choice on this menu!
It's an experience, from meeting and talking with the staff, to the food. An awesome place with awesome people.
We loved this place. Party of 10 and they kept up in every way. Many thanks to our server Linda (We love you Linda). Food, Atmosphere, Service... Johnny's exceeded our expectations.
I visited Johnny's Bar with three friends on a Friday night. I have been there before but my friends had not. They were as impressed by Johnny's as I was. Everything from the service, ambiance, food and drink were notch! We cannot wait to return.
Very nice romantic night! Food was great!
My girlfriend and I had a great time and the service was terrific!
Excellent food and service - top notch and very cozy!
Everything is made on site and you can taste it. Delicious from the pasta, to the salad dressings highly recommend this gem.
Johnny's Bar is an historic restaurant and a lovely destination for special occasions. It is very expensive for Cleveland so they should try harder. I think its steaks and meat are better than its fish. I have shifted more to eating fish and especially am expecting free range/humanely raised animal products all around. Such locally raised meat and humanely sourced fish and fowl tastes better and is more ethical. Johnny's makes no effort to follow this trend. Their fish was fine--good not great. In my opinion, halibut should not be paired with marinara/red sauce. And the Walleye seemed dry and almost pre-cooked. The chef seems a bit out of touch with trends in cuisine. I will probably go next time to Greenhouse or L'Albatros--better value. Service at Johnny's is faultless.
Food was outstanding as always!! Drink prices are always higher than anywhere else. The only disappointing thing was that the bill was added incorrectly that resulted in me being overcharged by $2.00. I let it go as it was only $2.00. Overall it was an enjoyable experience with great food and very good service. Highly recommend!!
Phenomenal as always.
An older building with the classiness of the 1920s. Good food, good atmosphere, good service.
The meal was a first class experience with the incredible food of Johnnys and the impeccable service by our waiter Tony.
Johnny's Bar always offers a unique dining experience.
first course crostini lacked creativity and was mediocre. salads and Mains were exceptional.
I had Italian feast seafood dish each piece of seafood cooked perfectly. My wife complained when her plate arrived that it lacked eye appeal, but loved her potatoes and ate the filet also raved about a tiny vegetable pudding thing, Service spot on and knowledgeable. Loudmouth a couple table over had to make sure she was center of attention yelling her conversation and annoying other diners. The food here is better than Jonny's downtown but a bit crowded and noisy. Having said all that EVERYONE should eat here. Of course if you can afford the SSSS.
Anthony was a great waiter.. he made our dinner fun
Love the food and ambience. My favorite place to dine in Cleveland.
Johnny's Bar on Fulton is one of Cleveland's best restaurants! It is never a disappointment!
