Dining at any of our restaurants is a homecoming of sorts where guests can relax, enjoy each other's company, and celebrate life's big moments and small rituals. That communal approach is an extension of what we value as a business; tradition matters; family is important; serve your community.
tender veal leg slices sauteed with butter, lemon & wine. served with our creamy fettuccini alfredo
Sliced eggplant lightly breaded and sauteed, topped with mozzarella. Served on a bed of pasta
Cheese filled ravioli. Served with our original sauce
Took my sister in law to dinner. Waiter was very friendly and food was prompt and delicious.
Nice food and had a coupon that helped. Always love to eat here.
This was my first visit. Was there mid-week just as the coronavirus was getting going and there were not many people. Due to this the service was excellent and the food was very good as well. Just a couple of minor things...the bean soup was too hot and had to let it cool a few minutes. The bread was nothing special. The main course was served before we had a chance to finish the soup/salad. I suppose that was due to the few people in the restaurant. But I am sure to return when this all is over.
Hands downs the best Italian food I’ve had !!!!
it just feels dated. But the food was good, and so was the service
Always good food
Love this place!
Once again the wife, daughter and I decided to go to Johnny's. It has been about six years since are last visit witch was a perfect evening for us. This date was just as enjoyable. Are waiter Richard guided us through the menu, which I think is key for a great dinning experience. Salads and soup came at the right time and gave us the right amount of time enjoy them. Are dinner was just as enjoyable as are first time. I would recommend Johnny's to anyone who enjoys REAL Italian food.
The folks at Johnny Cascone’s took excellent care. We had o e in our party of five, who is in a wheel chair. They gave us the perfect table to give every in our party plenty of room and allow for all to be comfortable.
Food and Service WONDERFUL as always. Accommodated one of our diner's w/a different sauce for her dish.
Very good experience and great value.
We were celebrating our daughters birthday with her family. We had excellent food and service. They treated her to ice cream and let her kids sing to her.
Our family celebrates all Our special occasions at Johnny’s.
Exactly what you'd expect from an old school Italian restaurant. Always good.
We were seated promptly after checking in. The paper liner on the table ruined the ambiance. We had to wait a very long time for our drink order to be taken and then waited several more minutes for our bottle of wine to arrive. It was 15-20 minutes between being seated and served. They brought the wrong wine, but I wasn’t about to send it back after the wait.
Our main arrived just a couple minutes after the salad, although the main was very good. I was shocked to see a $3 charge for a sauce substitution on the main. The food isn’t cheap to begin with.
I’ve been going to Cascone’s for over 20 years. After 2 poor to subpar experiences, I’m afraid this was probably our last visit.
It is true what other reviewers have mentioned regarding the sewer smell. It is hard to enjoy your food with that smell in the background. The food was good, our server was indifferent. If not for the sewer smell I would give it another chance.
First time here. Good food. Enjoyed the keyboard player. Will go back
We had reservations so we’re seated immediately. The wait staff was prompt, courteous and efficient. The food was, as usual, delicious. Mom had pasta with meat sauce and mushrooms, I had cheese ravioli with a meatball. Both were hot, delicious and filling (mom had a lot of leftovers!). I’m not a salad eater, but I love their salads: ice cold and the house dressing is delicious. We were too full for dessert; maybe next time! This is our favorite Italian dining experience.
Love their house salad! Their veal lemonada is wonderful - my favorite!
Made a reservation for 9pm, showed up at 8:55pm and alerted the host that we had a 9pm reservation. At 9:20pm the host had proceeded to call MULTIPLE parties and seemed to disregard the people who had actually made reservations. We left at 9:20 before even getting called. No desire to go back. Who knows how long we would’ve had to actually wait to get called for a 9pm reservation.
I expect it to be busy on Valentine’s day, that is a given. But when I checked in, my name was written down and we sat and waited. 40 minutes go by and i notice people after me getting sat. I asked the Host why this was happening, and he looked at all his messy papers, names crossed off, and at the bottom was mine. What is the point of using the Open table app if they’re going to scribble names on paper as customers walk in?? the only one not crossed off. It was his mistake bc he was the one that wrote it down at the beginning. He didn’t say a word but rushed us to a table. We got a free app dropped off but no one said a word about anything!!!! The app was gross. Our server was slow, very nice but she did not know how to read a table when something was wrong. My pasta was amazing, but we ordered a steak Medium rare and it came out super rare. Bc it was already late we did not want to send it back. She overlooked it and was just like okay everything’s good yeah yeah yeah. I love this restaurant so so so much but every year it gets worse and worse and it’s ruining my love for it. It no longer feels like a fine dining experience it just feels like you’re always sitting and waiting for it to get better.
Had a 7:45 reservation. Our reservation was overbooked so we did not get seated until 8:15. We received an olive salad as an apology, but we cannot eat olives. Our server was probably the worst I’ve experienced. First thing he said to us was “I can’t wait for this to be over.” He took our drink order and then disappeared for a while. We ordered our food at 9:00, and received our food at 9:15. Had to ask other servers for refills, etc. The food was amazing. I’ll definitely go back. But it was unfortunate a place that nice could have service that bad. Other than the service this place is 5 stars. Food is the best Italian I’ve tried.
Always a great experience, my favorite Italian restaurant in KC!
Johnny Cascone’s is our “go-to” for authentic Italian food in the Kansas City area!
The food is always great. We have been coming here for over 25 years!
Ended up with a 4:45 reservation, so we beat the rush and were seated immediately. The food was excellent as always, and with the bread and sizable salad, we each took a box home.
Service was very personal until our server got extremely busy, and then we felt a little neglected.
Delivery of the entrees (not by our server) was tacky: Instead of bringing them to the table, the person who brought them out just handed them to us across a ledge.
I guess you can't expect perfect service on a busy evening like Valentine's Day, and the food was as great as ever.
Food was good, but the service was horrible.
Average mid western Italian restaurant in the strip mall.
Early dinner was great
The veal picata was extra tender this visit! Server was fun! Our favorite go to Italian! Always good. Sharable portions.
Great as always.
Love this place. Sat nights are noisy. That’s okay. Food is always our favorite and excellent. The waiter has been there forever and kind of casual with service. But pleasant and busy. Forgot to bring the grated cheese. Slow to bring check. Didn’t offer to refill coffee, water, or iced tea although he did other tables. But it’s casual and pleasant. We love it.
Love Johnny Cascone’s! Great place for dinner with close friends.
This has been a great restaurant for decades. I Was very pleased when they opened one on the Kansas side of the metro area.
The live music is excellent. I go there with friends.
My one and only issue is that the pasta sauce is a bit more sweet than I prefer,
We have gone to dine here many times and liked it. This time the service was very poor. We waited for everything much longer than necessary. It was our responsibility to as k for drink refills, check and even when we would be served.
Ford was excellent and a great value for the price. Service was slow but maybe they were not expecting large crowd with restaurant week. Service was great when he came to the table.
I have always been a huge Cascone's fan. However, on our last visit to the Overland Park location, the smell of sewer gas inside the restaurant was horrible. I addressed an employee about it, and they said yes it was bad, but they didn't know how to fix it. As well, the interior is dated and I was very disappointed. Between the smell and interior finish and the bathrooms, I will not be going back. All my business will be going to the Cascone's on North Oak or finding a new Italian restaurant.
We met friends for dinner and had a nice evening. There was some confusion getting us seated but thereafter the service was attentive and the pasta was delicious and plentiful. After the salad and eating about a third of the Italian Flag combination dinner, our server had to bring me a box for the rest. So, now I'll get to enjoy Cascone's for lunch this week.
Every time we have come here, we have never had a bad experience! Always so good! Our last server was so wonderful! Just wish I could remember his name..
Wonderful food and really attentive service.
