Service was pretty good, food was pretty good, not excellent. Simple salad for $18.00 on top of Schnitzel for $36 to $42 makes for a very expensive night out without wine. It's been a couple years since I have been there and it will be a couple more before I return. There is great food in Palm Springs for a little less.

Just another PHENOMENAL dining experience at Johannes! It is truly a gem in Palm Springs and doesn't get the acclaim it should. The service, food, comfort and style of Johannes is consistently wonderful Last night my husband and I enjoyed one of the best Thanksgiving meals I've ever had. The Chicken Weiner mit Jaeger Sauce was even better than it usually is and was juicy, moist and perfectly hot and seasoned well--and better than most schnitzel I've had in Germany or Austria. My husband"s Steak Diane was perfectly cooked meduim rare and was melt in your mouth ideal!! The great service by the waitress and support staff was on-point, friendly, causal and never over-bearing or remiss. Johannes remains my single favorite restaurant in Palm Springs! Thanks for a great evening!

We really enjoyed Johannes. The food was very good and the service excellent. We ordered the cheese spätzle appetizer and the meat balls appetizers. Both were excellent. We all ended up ordering schnitzel. My favorite was the jägerschnitzel, but the peppercorn and the lemon caper sauce ones were delicious too. They had the cordon blue as the special, which made one of our kids very happy. Also really excellent!! All in all a fabulous, albeit pricy experience. Highly recommend

One of my favorite dining experiences in PS. The schnitzel reminds me of my mothers growing up. All of the dishes we had were executed perfectly. Always difficult to choose as the whole menu reads deliciously. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Looking forward to my next visit.

Had early reservation and it was empty. Quickly filled up! Wait staff was attentive and made every effort to meet our needs. Food was fresh with lovely presentation. Not a place for a quick meal though. Will eat there next time in town!

The chicken schnitzel is outstanding. Service wasn’t great but we were at a high top in the bar and the bartender was also the server. She was clearly stretched thin on a Friday night. Wouldn’t recommend sitting in the bar.

There was so much noise that it was very difficult to carry on a conversation. We were seated outside the kitchen area from which a lot of the noise emanated. Definitely put a damper on our enjoyment.

I really don’t like writing a negative review. Especially of a restaurant we have enjoyed on numerous occasions. Our recent dining experience was lacking in both food preparation and service. We waited 20 minutes for our server to take our drink order. We begged the bread man to bring bread. When we asked for more bread he just walked away. I don’t care if you charge for extra bread. When a customer asks for something, provide the request. Aren’t you in the service industry? My husband’s food was cold and had to be sent back. Our guests said their food was good, but guests rarely complain. My meal was lackluster. The French fries tasted warmed over. There was no acknowledgment of our guest’s birthday when the dessert was served. Disappointing evening.

We love Johannes and look forward to every dining experience. Our waiter Ray was awesome and provided just the right amount of engagement. The food was outstanding as we enjoyed the roasted duck, the halibut special and delicious roasted red pepper soup. Delicious!

As one of our fave restaurants in our city of Palm Springs we were surprised by how much the prices have jumped in the past few months. We spilt an entree which was average tasting for almost $52.00. The totally bill was over $200 without dessert. While We understand prices are up overall but this was ridiculous. That’s more then a 25% spike in prices since our last visit. I think we will think twice before heading back. For those prices I would expect superb food but it’s was just average.

Exquisite experience! Regarding oysters, I do not impress easily, and their gargantuan fried oysters were unforgettably delicious! The soup of the day was divine, and the New Zealand rack of lamb knocked my nonexistent socks off! Magnificent!

We ordered a cocktail and once served it, asked not to bring the food until we were done. The order was already in by just a few minutes and so our food was served us with the cocktails and the wine we ordered. Disappointing as you would think they would automatically put in the food order later. But the food is great and we’ll go back, sit at the bar first and then order when we sit at the table. Just a gentle caution. Otherwise an excellent restaurant.

Food was absolutely fabulous! We ate from the evening’s specials which were amazing! I had halibut with an incredible tarragon and saffron sauce. Very unique and delicious. Our waiter went above and beyond with suggestions and helpful advice as this was our first time at Johannes. We will definitely be back.

Pitch Prefect. the menu offers comfort food prepared to perfection. The service was welcoming and efficient. We ate outside and were treated to a parade of people watching that only PS has to offer.

This was our first visit and we were very impressed. Comfortable seating where you don’t feel overcrowded. Service was impeccable - warm, friendly, and attentive without ever feeling intrusive. And the food! Perfectly prepared, perfectly presented, with each course timed just right.

For years now, Johannes has been one of the most consistent quality meals we eat when we go out to Palm Springs. There's clearly a reason they have been around for so long and are always booked full. If you like a good Schnitzel, this is the place to go.
