Great service. But—
Steak was shocking. Frozen and cooked poorly. Wrong raw material for a steakhouse and prepared without supervision of any kind. Disappointing.
Fantastic meal, great cajun steakhouse. The grilled banana dessert was excellent.
Large portions of good food. My husband had the thick bone-in pork chop and a side of ribs. The pork chop was tender and had a fantastic flavor. The ribs were okay but weren’t really meaty.
I had the breaded and baked bone in pork chop along with a mushroom risotto, apple chutney and butternut squash. All of it was delicious! I would have shared it if I had know how large of a portion we were getting with each entree. We took home our leftovers to enjoy the next day. We will be going back again! Great service!
Love this place, we go regularly and have been happy every time
Great steaks! Definitely expensive, but great for a special occasion!
Awesome calamari, swordfish was cooked perfectly, crab corn chowder was good but not my favorite.
The food was all right at best and definitely not worth the price. We will not be returning and would not recommend. There are several other places around where you can get a much better steak for about the same price.
I would go back, food was good.
We absolutely love this place, the food and the service is amazing.
Love Jd Hoyts one of my favorite restaurants! They have the best catfish bites! Yummy
Pat and his team always deliver an amazing experience!!! Every step is awesome!!!!! Cheer!!!
Service was wonderful and you can’t beat the food!!
Good food. Good service. Ambiance was great. Went for my wife’s birthday. Will go again.
There’s a reason this restaurant has been around forever.
Our party liked their steaks. I had a good sweet potato and salad.
Ambiance was nice, reminded me of the steak houses I ate in as a kid.
First time at J D Hoyts and everything about it was great! The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. We will definitely be putting this on our list of return to restaurants.
From dropping off the car at valet parking, all the way through to picking it up- it was perfect. Superb wait staff, great recommendations. Excellent food. No 'over sell' for the table for appetizer sizes- and excellent meals (we all had a variety, so to pick one over the other is not fair- all were good). Will be there gain sooner, than later. And the price, for downtown was totally within reason. A value for a wonderful experience and most of all, food that was outstanding.
Wonderful food, service, and atmosphere.
Food was salty. Atmosphere ok. Server took a while to serve, not busy. We had 3 glasses of water before our food came out. Overall, 3 stars, bc food was ok.
We had the best time celebrating our niece's recent graduation. The whole place is a class act. Everyone went above an beyond to make our night comfortable and fun; including seating us a half hour early, dealing with our youngest who is an inexperienced diner, and bringing the most lovely dessert for our table to enjoy as part of our celebration. Not once was anyone flustered or impatient with our gaggle of six, including four teenagers. And we had a fabulous meal too. Somewhat surprisingly everyone loved the pasta probably the most, though we had pork chops, ribs, a fillet, and lobster too. The place has a great energy too. Would definitely recommend for a celebration. Service, food, and atmosphere all excellent, and very fun as well.
As always, pork chops were outstanding
The above is why I invite two other couples for dinner
Buddy bowl with shrimp was great. Wouldn’t call their garlic toast world famous, just regular old garlic toast. Seafood gumbo was good. The Caesar salad was just okay. The swordfish was excellent as well as the pork chop, scallops and the steak spaulding. The lobster was bland to me but others really liked it. The lobster risotto was awful.
The desserts were great and very shareable as they were huge! Our waitress was outstanding. Overall a fun, good dinner for our monthly dinner club.
Loved our greeting when we walked in. Valet service was outstanding. our waiter was great. (I wish I could remember his name!)
I've been going to Hoyt's since it opened. Never had a bad ;meal. Service is always excellent. The place has an old time supper club feeling. Management and staff always very friendly and professional. It is my favorite restaurant.
The pork chops are still amazing as ever!
We love the JD Hoyt’s vibe. Pat is the best and it’s like coming home to the friendliest place in town. We have been coming for years and it never disappoints us. Food the best in town and we always have plenty to bring home for the next day. From manager, to servers, bartenders and valets, service is always over the top. There isn’t a better steakhouse in town! When we leave we always comment... why don’t we get here more often... this is just the most fun and best place to be.
As usual, had a wonderful dining experience at JD Hoyt's. The atmosphere is lively, and every table were people having a great time. My steak was cooked to perfection!
Our steaks were perfect and not completely overpriced! We'r both enjoyed our anniversary dinner.
Wonderful as always
Best pork chops in the Twin Cities. Everyone at the table had the same feeling.
A good “go to” though the last two times I’ve dined there, the beverage and food timing has been poor. Salads arrive before the drinks and entrees a minute or two after the salads. Both times there were comments from the wait staff (which are very attentive) that the kitchen or bar is backed up.
Hoping for a well paced and not rushed experience the next time.
It was a nice evening but pricey for that meal. Parking is not cheap, which is a problem not unique to your restaurant when people want to get together downtown. For some, I bet it is an incentive to patronize competitors in the suburbs.
Two of us had the same entree, and mine was significantly larger than my friend’s dinner. The server was not super interested in discussing it with us.
It also was quite loud.
I haven't been to JD Hoyts in about 5 years...the quality of the meat was average. I expected more. I used to LOVE the food there. It was mediocre this time. The service was fantastic. Bartender and our server both amazing.
Great food, Great service, Great environment would
Annie was a great server/she made our first trip to JD Hoyt’s a wonderful one!! We will be back to try some other favorites on the menu!!
Love this place! Always great service & great food! Can’t beat the atmosphere.
Hoyt’s had a special menu for NYE and it was very good. Our waitress, Amanda, was outstanding! The people are always friendly and welcoming. Just a wonderful evening.
NY Eve, Loved our waitress, Jodi. She’s the best!
Fun place to celebrate NYE except our waitress could not be bothered with us.
