The lush landscaping, new patio, and the ample parking help make Jacmel Inn a culinary oasis worthy of a 60 miles drive from New Orleans.
The menu has evolved over the years while always using fresh Louisiana Seafood, cooking techniques and dishes derived from traditional Louisiana culture and for 31 year serving great steaks from Iowa corn fed beef.
Our executive Chef Josh Garic creates our menu, which evolves seasonally. Our dinner with a winemaker series is very popular with our customers for the past 20 years.
Our ambiance is a blend of Caribbean, nautical and New England Inn. Guests will feel comfortable dressed casually or dressed to attend a symphony.

Post Hurricane Ida we were looking for a place nearby my mother's new nursing facility. We found Jacmel online and decided to give it a try. From the time we pulled in to the hostess who seated us, we felt relaxed. Our server Michael made things even more relaxed as he took our order and allowed us to just enjoy our meal without a lot of interruptions. He was awesome. We brought dessert home with us since we were stuffed from our appetizer, salad and main course. It was equally delicious heated up later. We will be back. Thank you for a little corner of peace and quiet and a delicious meal after living thru Ida for the past three weeks! We will be back!
Absolutely loved this restaurant! I would definitely come back and recommend it to others
Birthday dinner and the food was great! Steaks were cooked to the proper temperature. The waitstaff in Hailey was incredible and we never needed anything...sheveasntvalreafy getting for us.
Drove over an hour to the Resturant after making a reservation only to find out they were closed due to storm damage. Don’t allow reservations if you are not open.
Server was excellent as was the food and wine!!
Delicious food and great service. And love the atmosphere!
Great food and staff as always. Just wish the owners would do something with the interior of the restaurant. Sure it’s a very old home, but the decor is drab and depressing.
It was not what I expected. My fish was dry and service slow.
Delicious as always!! You HAVE to try the cocktails! On this occasion I tried the Very Berry refresher (photo attached) It was a summery, refreshing and not too sweet drink. I also had a steak (best in town if you ask me😋) and a fruit tart. Always, good food, good drinks and superb service.
I have been going to this restaurant at least 5 to 10 times a year since I was a young child. This was always my go to restaurant when hosting out of town guests. However, that is no longer the case. My recent experience has left me with nothing but disappointment and embarrassment. I brought two guests from out of state to eat here after raving about the food and atmosphere only to be met with snarky, poor service. I can look pass a rude comment, a forgotten drink, and failure to remove mushrooms from a dish, but denying a pregnant women a virgin mojito because “the bartender said he only has enough for five alcoholic versions” is just unacceptable. Especially when another guest at our table (who also ordered a mojito) was saying, “please just give her the ingredients that you would have put in mine and I’ll get something else.” To be denied a beverage simply because the bartender did not want to “waste the ingredients” is beyond comprehension to me. Especially considering we were paying the same price regardless of alcohol being in the drink or not. There are entirely too many other restaurants with great food and amazing atmospheres in the Hammond and Madisonville area for this type of service to be accepted. I’m truly so embarrassed and annoyed that my party sat there and politely took this nonsense without complaint that I had to leave my first ever negative review on a public forum.
Lastly, it’s time to remove the Easter decorations from the entryway.
Redfish was perfectly prepared.
Hanger steak was also perfectly prepared.
Service was great, like you were royalty.
A consistently fabulous dining experience!!
Loved the atmosphere. The food was great and look forward to returning.
Great food. The Gag Grouper with mushrooms was amazing. Always enjoy the experience.
Birthday celebration. Great time as always
It is always a special treat to dine at the Jacmel Inn. The food was wonderful, and the service could not have been better. I would highly recommend Jacmel for an excellent dining experience.
Very nice! Steak over cooked slightly but honestly I didn’t mind. Crispy oysters were amazing!
Great food, service, and atmosphere! One of the best restaurants in Hammond. Perfect for any occasion. Will definitely be going back
Always a nice time at Jacmel Inn. The way the various dining rooms are segmented makes it more quiet than many restaurants which is a HUGE plus for us.
Husband’s birthday! Really enjoyed our time together
Likely the best restaurant on the Northshore !
Such a wonderful place, the ambiance is so nice, the food is impeccable and the service is amazing. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and really enjoyed our dinner. The additional touches included a "Happy Anniversary" sign and a complimentary glass of champagne for each of us. We will defiantly be back!
Eh it was ok. Food was good but not much on the plate. Service was good although we sat for 15 min before we placed a drink order and it wasn’t very busy. But once the service started it was good
Great atmosphere and service.
Great ambiance. Delicious food. Exceptional Service. Never disappoints.
Seated in a timely manor. Drink order with seating but, the delivery of the drinks took longer than it should have. After that, food was great and the rest of the evening was exceptional.
The Restaurant was quite busy and perhaps as a result, service was mediocre at best.
Food is next-level worthy of that in a terrific New Orleans restaurant, but available in Hammond. Very underestimated restaurant. Chef knows his flavors and ingredients and executes consistently great and interesting food! Will be back soon.
Great restaurant. Food was great. Service superb and wait staff 1st class. My 4th or 5th time at this great place and each time has been a great experience😋
We really enjoyed our Father's Day celebration at Jacmels. The food was outstanding, at the right temperature and it didn't take very long either. We are looking forward to going to dinner there one night.
Great ambience, sat inside next to a brick wall. Food was excellent and service was good overall. Great setting for with lots of southern charm. Next time will try sitting outside and have a drink at the bar.
Very disappointed, as this has, in the past, been one of our favorite restaurants. The person who seated us was new at her job, and her lack of skills in taking our drink order was understandable. We told her our selection for cocktails, but she was a bit confused. I ordered the listed Cosmopolitan cocktail. The menu stated that it contained a house made orange liqueur. The bartender came to the table and told me the housemade orange liqueur was a simple syrup made with orange and no alcohol. Liqueurs contain alcohol, so the menu did not properly describe the ingredient.
My husband ordered the Waygu beef sirloin entree. The meat was cooked properly, to his liking, but was exceptionally tough and full of gristle. Waygu beef is very expensive meat, so we gave the waitress our opinion of that selection. No one bothered to apologize or call the chef out to check on my husband’s dissatisfaction. The staff needs some training.
Food was mediocre. My redfish was good but the shrimp on top tasted old. My boyfriends duck wasn't very good, tasted like a piece of chicken and seasoning was bland. We ordered steak bites rare and they came out medium. They sat us right by a doorway (not a big deal) but we heard every employee yell corner every 5 seconds. I worked in a restaurant I understand the protocol for that but why have a table right there, nobody wants to hear corner every 5 seconds over and over, especially when it's soooo quiet inside. Ambience was cool but , again, it was so quiet in there I felt like I had to whisper to my boyfriend.
The manager and bar staff were extremely rude. Made reservations for 10p on Open table for 7 people. Called at 5p to add 2 people to the reservation. Was told it was not an issue and the reservation was confirmed verbally and via email. At 9:55pm, I received a text from the hostess stating the kitchen would be closing at 10pm. I called immediately stated we were on our way and was told we could still proceed with our reservation as long as we ordered shortly after arriving. Upon arrival, we were again confronted, this time by the manager, stating the kitchen was going to be closing. Two more people wanted to be added to the party but left because of how rude and unwelcoming the manager made us feel. As we were being seated, I offered to leave due feeling like an inconvenience, and was told “as long as you don’t stay 3 hours”. I’m extremely disappointed in this restaurant. My husband and I often dine here for our date nights. After this experience, we will not be back.
Shrimp and grits 10 stars, crab cake appetizer awesome, redfish fresh and delish, hubby loved his pork chop! I just adore this place...worth the ride!
We really enjoyed our visit to Jacmel's. The Sunday brunch menu was full of good choices. The soup of the day was excellent, a warm, and comfy choice on this rainy, morning. The duck confit was crisp, yet tender. three of us ordered the shrimp and grits, and all of us were delighted with our choice. The Jacmel house salad dressing is always outstanding, and one of our favorite restaurant dressings. Two of us shared the chocolate bomb that was an exquisite end to an excellent meal. We enjoyed our experience from beginning to end.
Great meal and service. We loved our server, Trace.
The food was great and the atmosphere was awesome. Our server was very attentive.
