Jacmel Inn began service in June 1977 after six months renovation to the former residence that was built in 1888. This historic 2-story property sits on 2.2 acres and 9 blocks for the center of historic downtown Hammond.

The lush landscaping, new patio, and the ample parking help make Jacmel Inn a culinary oasis worthy of a 60 miles drive from New Orleans.

New Ownership 2022
The time has come to pass the tiller to another generation, with Rick and Paul selling the business and property to Alfonso Flores, The current manager of 5 years. He was hired as a server and worked his way up to General Manager. Anxious and ready to be an entrepreneur and continue providing a peaceful, sophisticated dining option for Hammond and the greater NorthShore.

Our executive Chef Brandon Martinez creates our menu, which evolves seasonally. While always using fresh Louisiana Seafood, Prime steaks, Lamb, Pastas and Great Desserts, cooking techniques and dishes derived from traditional Louisiana culture.

The rear parking lot off of Thomas St. (Hwy 190) can handle 30 cars and customers can access the front door via a brick walkway through the cane landscaping.

    We had a wonderful dining experience for brunch. Our server, Cameron G, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The bread board was amazing, as was the boudin balls, gnocchi, and French onion soup. We will definitely recommend and return to this gem in Hammond.

    Very nice atmosphere, the sitting was right, did not feel cramped, food was good. Duck was cooked well. Fish cooked aliitle more than We liked. The brussel sprouts appetizer was devine. I Would recommend the restaurant to others.

    Beautiful setting. Octopus and oysters for appetizers, wonderful! Service great. Three out of 4 meals great, steak was perfect. The 4th (unfortunately my wife) was grilled chicken with vegetables of some unknown origin. Presentation alone was unappetizing but the chicken bland. I had ordered a side lobster with the steak and gave that to her, but it was incredibly salty. We each tried a bite and immediately grabbed our water glass after swallowing. So, three of four perfectly content, one unhappy. But…guess who makes the dining choices in most families! Anyway, it was a special evening for our son’s birthday and a place he always wanted to go and he enjoyed it immensely, so a win there.

    The grilled oysters were not quite up to par. The Grilled Gulf Mahi was great. The Key Lime Pie was not only great, it was just the right size to end a great meal. My wife's onion soup was excellent as was her surf and turf. Her only complaint was the white chocolate bread pudding was too dry. I guess it must be termite swarming time because we were brushing away flying termites during the entire meal. The took a way from what is normally a great dining experience at Jacmel Inn. Finally, Jacmel Inn has instituted a $7.70 fee for using a credit card. I was not notified of this charge before I was presented with the bill which came to $250. This also took some of the luster off the evening.

    A truly wonderful dining experience. Fantastic food and service. Reminded me of dining in Italy where the food is fresh and dining is relaxed and not rushed. The only downfall is it’s not closer to my home because I would be a weekly customer.

    We went to Jacmel Inn to celebrate our anniversary. The service was impeccable. The restaurant and grounds are lovely. And every single thing we had, from cocktails to entrees to dessert, was DELICIOUS. We will be going back!
