The lush landscaping, new patio, and the ample parking help make Jacmel Inn a culinary oasis worthy of a 60 miles drive from New Orleans.
The menu has evolved over the years while always using fresh Louisiana Seafood, cooking techniques and dishes derived from traditional Louisiana culture and for 31 year serving great steaks from Iowa corn fed beef.
Our executive Chef Josh Garic creates our menu, which evolves seasonally. Our dinner with a winemaker series is very popular with our customers for the past 20 years.
Our ambiance is a blend of Caribbean, nautical and New England Inn. Guests will feel comfortable dressed casually or dressed to attend a symphony.
We had a wonderful anniversary celebration with family. Our waitress (she’s in the army) was outstanding. As was our hostess. We celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary 23 years ago at Jacmel so it was fun to revisit in our 24th!!!
Had an excellent dinner with my wife, brother, and sister-in-law. Our server, Jarrett, did a fine job keeping us and other diners in a busy room happy. All staff were pleasant, helpful, and efficient.
Our crispy duck, fillet mignon, and blackened redfish meals were excellent—all nicely done and tasty. The wine list, though not crazy extensive, is longer than most high-end northshore restaurants. Jacmel’s rich, warm architecture and decor provided good ambiance for the wonderful fare.
There were two exceptions to the niceness of the food. First, my duck entrée was served only slightly warm. The accompaniments on the plate were lukewarm as well. Secondly, the flowerless chocolate torte and bourbon pecan pie portions were insultingly small for the high-end prices charged.
We’d have had a five-star experience without the near room temperature entrée and stingy dessert portions. But really, a one-and-a-half inch sliver of pecan pie for nine dollars?
On the whole, still an very nice job, Jacmel.
Delicious dinner with friends. Always love the atmosphere and attention to detail. Jarred was our server and he was the best! Great personality and fun! Never left us waiting.

Very pleasant staff and the restaurant has a nice ambience. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary which they acknowledged with a Happy Anniversary card signed by the staff and a complimentary desert. Those little touches mean so much!
Food was outstanding. Service was impeccable. Great place to have a nice dinner. The grounds and the ambiance made it more special.
What keeps me returning is the ambiance. The food is very good, but there are several local restaurants with good food. I have become familiar with the friendly staff and they, likewise, with my wife and me.
A wonderful dining experience! Since we live about 40 miles away and because there are some very good restaurants closer, we've not been to Jacmel Inn for a couple years. Jacmel's was so good though, we will definitely make amends to frequent it much more often.
Some very nice cocktails and wines started us off. Our waiter was Hailey who was excellent in every way. She was very pleasant and interesting to visit with, but her professional skills were equally impressive. We liked the fact that she had a "can do" attitude and worked with the Chef to modify a couple of dishes specially for us.
We had appetizers, salads, entrees, and dessert. It was all good! I particularly enjoyed the 1/2 Crispy Duck, a unique and delicious entree.
We can hardly wait until we can make a return visit!

Very pleased with the selections on the a la carte menu, specialty menu, wine specials. Food was well prepared and delicious. Service was good, but waitress needs training on dining room service. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience.

The perfect evening to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The food, atmosphere, and staff were beyond all expectations. The staff even made a special table with personalized decorations including a card congratulating us for this milestone in our lives. If you want amazing food in the most romantic setting in Hammond look no further.
We were greeted, asked if we had a reservation. We did, but aside from us, there was only 2 other parties in the restaurant. A debate then ensued between a server and 2 hosts to where they would seat us.
The ribeye is stated to be prime. It is not USDA prime. At best it is choice, but it was more accurately a select cut.
The whiskey sour was good, but not good enough to salvage our anniversary dinner.
Jacmel Inn is the best-kept secret on the Northshore! This is the second time I have dined there in the last three weeks and the second was as good as the first. The food is marvelous and uses many local ingredients. The range of dishes available is excellent. I had the crab cake appetizer which was top-notch - all crabmeat no filler. The peach and creole tomato salad was good, thought the tomato could have been riper. Most impressive was that we were greeted in a friendly manner by one of the owners; he took the time to suggest several wines that were not on the menu, asking us what type of wine we prefer and making the selection accordingly. Despite the fact that other diners were at nearby tables, the noise level was "zero." This is not a "see and be seen" spot but rather a delightfully quiet spot for an intimate dinner - something that seems impossible in so many chic restaurants today. If I could give this restaurant ten stars, I would!
I just don’t get here often enough. The menu is diverse and fresh and everything is perfectly prepared consistently—right through to desserts...which at some restaurants seem like an afterthought.
Jacmel ranks with the fine dining restaurants in NOLA...but shhhh—we don’t want the tourists to find you!!
My wife and I always look forward to a visit to Jacmel Inn. It has a warm and wonderful atmosphere, great food and service. I am looking forward to my next visit.
I took 3 of my employees here as a "treat'. We had high hopes and the place looked nice from outside. Upon entering, things immediately went downhill. It took the staff several minutes to recognize that we were there, despite the fact that the place was almost vacant. The appetizers were the highlight of the meal and we should have stopped there. We waited quite a while before receiving our main courses (30+ minutes). I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was mediocre at best. We tried to salvage the meal by getting desserts. Mistake. The desserts were terrible. My coworker ordered creme brulee and the waiter brought out something that he described as "like key lime pie" and said that the chef had changed the menu without telling them, but that the dish would be a good substitute for key lime pie since it is similar to creme brulee. He seriously said that. The place looked charming, but it was so cold inside that there was condensation on the windows. I was really disappointed, as were my coworkers.
We had a wonderful dinner. The complimentary grilled cantaloupe and proscuitto was excellent with our wine.
Our dinner is Jacmel was one of the best restaurant dinners I’ve had in years. Everything about the place is perfect. The noise level is almost nonexistent so you have a feeling of intimacy and can easily hear your dinner companions speak. The service was perfect - not pretentious or intrusive. Our two waitresses, Bridget and Chelsea, could not have been more professional or more friendly. The food was marvelous. The crabcakes are top-notch - no breading ir filling. The fish, both the Trout Amandine and the redfish, were absolutely delicious. The portions were perfect. We were celebrating a birthday and dessert for the birthday girl was on the house. What a nice touch. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Seated immediately as we had reservations. Asked for a nice quiet table and they did a wonderful job accommodating us.
Service was outstanding and food was absolutely wonderful.

We went to Jacmel Inn for Father’s Day. It was extra special because my daughter was in from Vienna. The food was superb and the service was excellent. We can always count on a wonderful experience at Jacmel Inn.
The Jacmel Inn was absolutely incredible! The appetizer with oysters and bacon were the best!
The pan seared Redfish Entrée was absolutely outstanding. Jacmel accommodations were excellent. The other guest with us had the duck Entrée and loved it. Looking forward to going back soon and enjoying the food.
This was our first time at Jacmel. The service was pretty slow. The menu was very intriguing, I wanted to try just about everything listed. The plates were beautiful and we all enjoyed it - but felt each dish (2 appetizers, 3 salads, and 4 entrees) needed more seasoning.
This was our second time visiting and both times have been outstanding. The food is truly wonderful and the service is great. We will be back.

Jacmal has steadily declined over the past few years. It use to be one of our favorite restaurants, but the last three times we have been there was disappointing. Service is less then desired and the food has declined as well. I
Wonderful. The food was excellent and the drinks were great. The service could have been a bit faster since there were only three tables and we arrived at 6pm, but it wasn’t bad enough to complain. We will definitely be back.
It was great! My wife and I use to go there for special occasions when we were in college, had not been there in 20 years or more, but it was like we had never left!

I proposed right before heading out to dinner. We both have been dying to try Jacmel Inn and I'm so glad I booked it. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was romantic, and service was absolutely the best. Jacmel now has a special place in our hearts on our special day.

Can’t say enough about this historical restaurant. We make sure to eat there at least once while in Hammond. Great wine selection with incredible pricing. Make sure you take time to look around. Great for events with outdoor space.

We love the Jacmel Inn. The food is always delicious and changes periodically so there is always a surprise. Great wine, outstanding service. Lovely setting. We try to get by this restaurant a few times a year and consider the 1 hr trip well worth it.
Overall I enjoyed my meal. They were very short staffed this particular day and they did not seem to care.
