Jacmel Inn began service in June 1977 after six months renovation to the former residence that was built in 1888. This historic 2-story property sits on 2.2 acres and 9 blocks for the center of historic downtown Hammond.

The lush landscaping, new patio, and the ample parking help make Jacmel Inn a culinary oasis worthy of a 60 miles drive from New Orleans.

New Ownership 2022
The time has come to pass the tiller to another generation, with Rick and Paul selling the business and property to Alfonso Flores, The current manager of 5 years. He was hired as a server and worked his way up to General Manager. Anxious and ready to be an entrepreneur and continue providing a peaceful, sophisticated dining option for Hammond and the greater NorthShore.

Our executive Chef Eli Wilson creates our menu, which evolves seasonally. While always using fresh Louisiana Seafood, Prime steaks and A5 wagyu beef, cooking techniques and dishes derived from traditional Louisiana culture.

    Outstanding food, service, and ambience. A must-visit destination for fine dining in the Hammond, LA area. The filet mignon, crispy oysters, desserts, -- excellent. The crispy oysters are the best fried oysters I've ever had and I spent 13+ years in LA. The Brussel sprouts are far and away the best I've had.

    Don’t let the limited menu fool you. Gnocchi was my favorite. Steak sandwich was flavor packed and tender. Great drinks from the bartender. Enjoyable experience.

    We drove from New Orleans to attend the Friday night Cha-Cha class and decided to make a dinner reservation as well. We’ve always loved the ambience and service of Jacmel’s, and the food is usually very good. The class was fun and a nice experience. A glass of wine came with the class but no hor d'oeuvres were served as advertised. No big deal. The atmosphere was great as usual and our server,Cort, was perfect! My wife’s Redfish Almandine was excellent. I ordered the surf and turf special. Mind was not as good. The shrimp had a funny taste, the asparagus were not seasoned and the filet was slightly tough and undercooked with not enough seasoning. Overall though, a very good experience.

    We celebrated our 39th anniversary there and it was a great experience. The steak was wonderful and the white chocolate bread pudding put the perfect end to the evening!

    From JJ seating us and bringing our drinks and Hannah who served our wonderful meal the service was perfection. We dined on Halibut with a green pea puree and Redfish Almondine. Both dishes were delicious. We did order a side of toasty and sweet Brussel sprouts! As if that wasn't enough, we ordered a bread pudding dessert to go....which we will enjoy once we get home in Alabama. A perfect oasis for travelers and locals.

    I had the wedge salad and added crab. Haven’t had a better salad in a long long time!! The dressing and veggies were so fresh. My friends got the steak and frittes and the heirloom tomato salad. Everything was just perfect. Our plates were clean lol

    Gnocchi and steak tips were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Redfish did not disappoint. Definitely a 5 star night! The gnocchi with crabmeat is amazing. Now with that said, we’ve eaten here many times over the years and obviously love it. Every once in awhile we have an ok to bad experience. Boy but when it’s good , it’s great! Please continue to put out fresh great food because it really sucks to pay that much money for a meal that’s just not worth it.

    No longer serving baked potatoes!! Menu is horrible! You cannot select the side dish you want, it is chosen for you, with no substitutions. Truly disappointing!

    Hi Ms. Michelle, I would like to thank you first of all for visiting our establishment and at the same time apologize for the inconveniences. I would like to say in this manner that Jacmel hasn't served baked potatoes in over 8 years since Chef Doyle used to be here. The 4 chefs after him have not added a baked potato on the menu since then. Our customers know that Jacmel has always been a restaurant that creates their own dishes with the sides carefully catered to the entrée in mind. With this in mind, one unfortunately cannot choose which side they prefer. Thus, substitutions are politely declined to keep our dishes to the highest quality possible and to keep the portions accurate for all customers.     Cozy Vintage Vibe, with great food & staff! The medicine man is one my favorite cocktails, paired with a med-rare filet topped w/ crab meat and a burnt top onion, and a side of garlic mash/asparagus, it was delicious! Chefs kiss!

    Many years since I had been to Jacmel but wanted to go for my 76th birthday. Loved it! Will go back very soon. Dealt with 3 different employees and all were excellent! Great day for my 76th birthday thanks to Jacmel Inn!

    Everything was outstanding. The restaurant vibes is unique and like no other in town. The food was exquisite. The drinks were crafted using organic products from their garden. Will definitely be back!! 10/10

    The food was excellent. The atmosphere was cozy and quiet. There was a nice little happy hour going on between 5 and 6. Our waiter was friendly and informative. We will definitely go back.

    We arrived for our 7pm reservation at 6:45pm. The first table we were seated at was in a room where the sun was beaming through the window straight at our table. It was impossible to see anything sitting where we were. We asked to be moved and waited for probably 10 mins before we were moved to a corner table in another room. Drink orders placed and the waitress comes back to tell us that they are out of the redfish. Ok no problem. She comes back again and tells us they are also out of the dorado. Seriously.. it’s only 7:10pm and you have run out of two dishes?? We decided to pay for our drinks and leave. Made a 7:30 reservation at 113 in Downtown Hammond and had an excellent meal! We will not be back to Jacmel after this experience.

    I've been dining at the Jacmel Inn since Richard and Paul Murphy, and Rick Colucci started it over 40 years ago. Ive never been disappointed there... until last night. Both I and my lady friend were surprised and disappointed. While the young man who served us did a very good job, the food was flavorless. I'm guessing, but it seemed like it was prepared by a complete amateur. We have been long-term, regular customers, but we won't be back in the foreseeable future. If the ownership doesn't turn this around soon, I predict that the Jacmel Inn will go out of business.

    My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and chose Jacmel as we had eaten there previously but a long time ago. The service was excellent, but food was extremely salty. Will not return

    Jacmel Inn is an all time favorite of ours. Food is always a delightful surprise. Chef Brandon made an AMAZING seafood risotto on this occasion that was a party in my mouth!! They have a mixologist that will make you your own “custom” drinks upon request. The fish is the best and freshest in town. If you want the New Orleans style restaurant experience in Hammond this is the place to go!! Also, brunch on Sundays is a unique family friendly experience.

    Really excellent Redfish Amandine. The preparation was was very professional, well-plated and presented. And it came out hot which a lot of restaurants don't bother with. Service was friendly and attentive. The cocktails were excellent but I wish they were quicker coming out the bar. People like to sip on their drinks while perusing the menu for the most part.

    The waitress was not attentive and entered the wrong food, my husband ordered steak and eggs and she entered in a steak sandwich. Replaced our steak sandwich but didn’t ask what Temperature my husband wanted his steak. Took and hour and 45 min for our brunch and we were late to our other plans.

    Always a pleasure dining at Jacmel Inn. Stopped by at 5pm before a 6pm baseball game and could not have had a better meal. The cocktails were expertly made and prompt. The food was well seasoned and served hot. My fish entree was exceptionally fresh and sautéed perfectly. I appreciated the crispy green beans, too! The service could not have been better; friendly and professional. Highly recommend this restaurant.
