We had a great Valentine's Day dinner at J. Gilberts. The food was excellent. The service was too.
I love coming here no matter what the occasion! They have the best burger in town!

We really enjoyed J. Gilberts. We were there on a busy Saturday night had a 6:15 reservation were seated promptly. However, it took forever for our entree's to arrive. We didn't get out of there until after 9 pm. My husband did order a salad which came out quick, but the time between the salad and main course was really long. Good thing we were with fun company or it could have been a long evening. Food and drink were great and our server was very nice. We will be back but not sure on a busy Saturday night.

This was our first time at J. Gilbert's and definitely won't be our last. We've been looking for a great steakhouse in St. Louis and we've found one. My boyfriend ordered the special 20 oz. tomahawk ribeye and I had the pork chop. The presentation of both plates was great. Both were cooked perfectly to our desired temperature, well seasoned and delicious. The baked potatoes were great, the cream corn with bacon was alright, but I might try something different next time.

One thing I especially appreciated was the honesty of our waiter. I love king crab legs, so I was going to order a 1/2 pound as an addition to my pork chop. He let me know that their king crab legs weren't as large as a lot of king crab legs and were a little thinner, so they might require a little more work. I am not a fan of smaller crab legs for that very reason, so I opted not to order the crab and I was very appreciative of the fact that he was honest and let me know ahead of time.

Overall, it was a great meal, worth the price and the service was great as well. We will definitely revisit J. Gilbert's in the future.

Fabulous food and service. Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared. Martinis were perfect. Wine list was great from top to bottom. The fireplace adds a glow to the wood plank walls and makes it cozy on a cold night. The price is a little stiff but in this case you get what you pay for. We are coming back. It’s packed so make reservations.

Our dinner was excellent. Not the cheapest restaurant for sure but the meal was so good and the mixed drinks were strong.

Everything was excellent, from the time we walked in the door. We were a couple minutes early, and the hostess greeted us and said she would get the table ready early. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu, but not overly anxious to sell. She was great. We knew what we wanted to eat, but listened to the specials, and were even more impressed. Her timing was perfect all night. She did not come over too often, but was always there when we needed something. The portions were ample. It was a 5 Star evening.

My wife and I came for the first time Valentine's night. We had reservations and were greatly warmly by the hostess who wished us "Happy Valentine's Day" with a smile and we were seated immediately--even though we were early, I was expecting a bigger wait thinking it would be crazy based on the reviews I had read, but not the case. The restaurant was full and it looked like everyone was enjoying their meals and seemed to be in a great mood.

We were greeted very warmly by our server, also, and we were expecting a good night out. My expectations were borne out throughout the evening--we were never rushed and enjoyed our experience greatly! The atmosphere lighting was a little dark for my wife, who has vision issues as she looked over the menu, but it was fine as far as I was concerned, we ordered drinks and enjoyed the warm sourdough bread and two kinds of butter.

We had plenty of time to look over the menu for the food choices and were never rushed by the attentive staff. My wife ordered steak and scallops with Poblano au Gratin potatoes suggested by our waiter, Sam, and she raved about it all night long saying it was the best she had ever had--she orders baked potato a lot so she should know. I ordered the Georges Bank Sea Scallops
with lobster risotto and it did not disappoint, either!

We took our time and enjoyed our meal and then ordered a slice of New York cheesecake with strawberry sauce which we shared, and it was a delight as well. My wife ordered the Nutty Irishman coffee drink which was recommended and very tasty.

We had a marvelous experience at our dinner out and we can highly recommend this restaurant for the food, atmosphere, and service. It is not a cheap meal, but I knew what the costs would be going in. As we left, we were told "goodbye and have a nice evening" by the hostess staff.

Just a delightful overall experience.
