We have loved J Gilbert’s and been there dozens of times. My wife can’t have sea food or red meat due to an allergy and has always LOVED the pork chop. Well, with new menu changes the took the pork chop off the menu. It was truly one of the best chops in KC. She chose to order the chicken, which was overcooked and not very good. First time I’ve left disappointed.

Very disappointed in the menu changes. New mashed potato thing is trash and the pre fix menu is absolutely no longer a good value.

THe portion of the chicken was extremely small - I thought they served me a parakeet instead of a chicken. It was so dry I could barely chew and swallow it but I did without saying anything as this was my husband's Father's Day dinner and I did not want him to not enjoy his meal

Dinner was amazing! We can always count on J Gilbert’s for the best steak! I had the Mixed Seafood, delicious! Only thing that bothered me, I forgot to use my 20% off meal coupon!! 😯

I took my client here for a business dinner. The server was in a rush to get us out the whole time. He kept trying to remove plates while we were still using them and even dropped off the bill before our dessert had even arrived without asking if we wanted anything else. I ordered the Seafood Mixed Grill and only the salmon and potatoes came out hot. Everything else: the asparagus, shrimp, scallop, and crab cake were at room temperature. Too cold to finish any of them, out of concern. The crab cake was extra fishy and tasted like it was turning so I didn’t risk it and only took two bites. My client commented that his Sea Bass was hot but his veggies were not. Just not a great experience. I won’t risk taking customers here again.

We have been going to J Gilberts for over 20 years for special occasions and guests. Recently, the food preparation was very disappointing while the pricing for value received was even worse. The Caeser Salad was inedible and the dressing change bland. No seperate cheese wafer! The crab bisque lacked crab and the after taste of Sherry as the table side prep was no longer. Fortunately, the steak was almost the same as before. Overall, it was not worth the $300 bill. We will not be going back. Longhorn is a better option at a third the price, better salad and better sides.

My husband’ Prime rib was cooked perfectly. I had the rack of lamb. Food was excellent Had amazing service from our waiter Jona!!

I have eaten here for so many years and always had fantastic food & service. We were really disappointed on our anniversary. The waitress was not good. We sat and wait for 15 minutes with no knifes & silverware to eat our salad and soup. Another staff member had to get ours and a table adjacent. My husband & I ordered drinks that came after we finished eating and these were ordered before dinner. The crab cake wasn’t the normal yummy tasting. It was off and even kind of fishy. Wait staff was super inattentive & definitely not the normal service we have received in the past. My husband was disappointed in his meal too. Very sad & now he doesn’t want to come back again.
