    It was our first time at Hy’s and I get the feeling it won’t be our last. The ambience was what you expect from an old school stake house. The service is great. The drinks were yummy and our food was overall amazing. Just didn’t care too much for the mustard taste on the escargots but they were good and the consistency was perfect. It was perfect for date night

    I really liked the servers and thr atmosphere. Tbh, I was extremely disappointed in my Steak. Doneness was ok, but the meat was burnt on the outside, bone in ribeye with the skinniest cap— not for $158. Didn’t say much to the server since my party was having a good time overall, but at a steakhouse, the steak is what’s important. Overall, ambience wad good, other dishes tasted good, steak - sadly not good.

    Our server Jerrell, was excellent Turkey dinner was sooo good. And we had the banana Foster, which was great. We have been coming to hys for Thanksgiving for a long time and we will continue having our Thanksgiving at Hys. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    We hosted a couple from Japan for a thanksgiving dinner at Hys. The food drinks and service were amazing again. Our friends had never had a traditional thanksgiving dinner. They really enjoyed the food and service. We did too. Thank you Hys.

    Excellent Caesar salad....made tableside. My wife's rack of lamb had a bit too much garlic, impacting the taste of the lamb. My end cut prime rib was terrific. Martinis were great. Not a huge selection of wine by the glass. Service was very good and the atmosphere was an old school steakhouse. We will be back......

    An iconic steakhouse in Honolulu, definitely worth a visit. When you enter, you know you’re in a classic steakhouse—dark wood, beautiful bar. We were seated in the Library, in a corner booth with a view of the restaurant. The keawe-wood imparts a wonderful flavor to the grilled food. We had the table-side prepared Caesar salad, very nice. The scallops appetizer was a generous portion of 3, easily an entree. The New York strip was a beautiful, thick cut. A bonus is that it came with the vegetable of the day and a choice of potato. Service was attentive without being a distraction. The founder of the Hy’s chain knew exactly what he wanted and succeeded in spades.

    Overpriced and underwhelming - I’ve had better filet Mignon at some chain restaurants. The ambience is exceptional - lots of dark carved wood and stained glass. Service was outstanding with table side Caesar and a deep but expensive wine selection. Overall we’ve had better dinners on Waikiki at Michel’s and Orchids. At least we can say we’ve been there.

    家内の誕生日に利用しました。ハワイに行くたびに利用しています。 今回は日本語で席に案内をされて驚きました。今まではアメリカのステーキハウスとして、また格調高い店として海外にいると言った特別感があったのでが、日本語で説明されると、異国感がなくなって少しがっかり。それは私だけではないと思います。 日本のお客様が増え来てサービスとしてはいいのですが、お店のでは持っている、格式を守っていただきますようお願いします。

    We visited Hy's Steak house about 10 years ago on the recommendation of a staff member from the The Kahala Resort and we loved it, We were able to come back again for our 2nd visit and it is the same great Food & Service and the ambiance is the best. The Bananas Foster is my favorite.

    We never come to Honolulu without dining at HY’s. The food, service and and ambiance is exceptional. View of the open grill is fascinating! Very beautiful and classic… like fine dining is meant to be. Sad to have seen so many men in shorts - not abiding to the dress code.

    “Forgettable, except for the cost” sums up my experience at Hy’s. The restaurant is a nice, cozy, comfortable place for dinner with a traditional steakhouse atmosphere. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient with a few notable exceptions. We ordered the Oysters Rockefeller for appetizer. The dish failed to leave any impression, lacking any distinctive qualities. Similarly, the lettuce salad with some bacon, a few assorted vegetables and an unremarkable dressing was a dish easily made at home. For entrees, we ordered the New York Strip and Beef Wellington. The other couple with us shared the Porterhouse. My steak was brought to the table with the other entrees. However, the Wellington and Porterhouse required additional preparation time (for slicing and saucing), leading to my food cooling off as I waited. Further, no one asked about my steak’s preparation. I had ordered medium-rare but the steak was cooked medium. The steak itself was very good, but not outstanding and the side vegetables and mashed potatoes were quite ordinary without any noteworthy flavors. The Wellington was also good but the sauce was a bit salty. For dessert, we ordered Affogatos made which were made with Haagen-dazs ice cream. Nothing against Haagen-dazs but there is much better vanilla ice cream available in HI. The ice cream was too frozen as well. Again, nothing special for the dessert. Overall, I wanted to be impressed by Hy’s. We had wanted to go there for a long time. It was, however, quite ordinary and the food was forgettable. We should now be talking about how delicious everything was not just how much it cost. Compared to other steakhouses I have been to, it was forgettable and I think this is not good enough at this price point. I would not recommend Hy’s and would not dine there again.
