    We came for a early lunch. Our waitress was very cold and seemed to avoid our table. She basically came twice and then took about 30 mins to bring the check. All the food was overpriced airport food with hard bread and cold fries. I wanted to love it so bad but the service was horrific and the food wasn’t worth it. A 6 dollar grapefruit??? Really??

    This was the 1st time we ate here and I would say it was just average in my opinion. The server wasn't friendly at all and felt like she was just kind of getting through her job, but didn't love it. She wasn't passionate about anything on the menu and made it all sound boring. She had someone shadowing her for training and she was nicer then the main server. We had to ask about drinks and if there were any specials. She wasn't excited about anything so kind of a turn off. I thought the food was average at best for the cost. There are many better places to eat with better service.

    We’d had high expectations. It was good, but not great. Lots of arugula, radish, and wobbly chairs. Could have used more seasoning and service. Cozy space, to be sure, but we got dessert and last drinks elsewhere.

    I was very nervous because I was bringing my in-laws here for their birthday dinners and after making a reservation saw all the recent negative reviews. It was too late to cancel, so I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. And we ended up having a great time! We did have a server, so we didn't have to order from our phones. We went at 7 PM on a Saturday after Thursday's big winter storm so it never got crowded but there were enough people that it didn't feel empty. Our server didn't come ask if we wanted more drinks after we finished the first round, but that was the only hiccup in terms of service. We loved the decor and the ambience with all the old pharmacy touches. The redfish was delicious with a complex broth and delicious greens. The creme brulee was also amazing; those were the 2 standouts. The mac and cheese and the fries were fine, and the burger was fine - all nothing special but not bad. I would definitely go again for brunch. At that price point, I was glad we had a server to make it a more special sit-down experience, but I would not have complained about ordering via phone to protect the staff - safety first!

    Would not recommend making a reservation since they do not allow modification or cancellation w/in 1-day. If cancel, my understanding is they will charge credit card (required to make reservation) $25 PER PERSON. I hit "Confirm" before finished reading this & regretted my decision to make this reservation.

    Good cocktails, but the restaurant does not have waiters right now, so you’re on your own with choosing what to order for food and drink. Definitely not a good experience for the price. The food came out lukewarm. I have neutral feelings about Hillside Farmacy. I wouldn’t be disappointed to be back, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I would prefer spending my money at other restaurants that offer a more premium experience for the same or lower price.

    The food, quite frankly, sucked. The Mac and cheese used a stinky cheese and tasted sour. The side of veggies was cooked carrots that were just roasted and tasted like nothing. Brie and oyster mushrooms was lacking something. Had a couple other appetizers but nothing really stuck out. Service was order for yourself and they brought it to the table. So we didn’t pace our meal very well.

    Hillside Farmacy has taken a very wrong turn and despite months of poor reviews doesn't appear to be inclined to change direction. When we moved to Austin two years ago it was an instant favorite - great ambiance, nice and tasty menu selection and -ok- maybe somewhat aloof service. When we arrived tonight the place was empty with annoying 80's punk rock blaring, the manager was tapping to the beat on the bar and the remainder of the staff were pretty much engrossed in texting on their phones or maybe they were just desperately seeking new employment. As many others have stated - ordering on the app is awkward and time consuming, you have to pace the meal yourself - otherwise, everything will come at once. Service is minimal and then at checkout they start with suggested tips at 18%. Oh - food and drink? Burger was favorable, fries OK, couldn't tell what was going on with the croutons on the Kale Caesar - just plain stale? Regardless, they weren't crispy and were simply unappetizing. This was our - let's revisit (if we are not locked out despite having a prepaid reservation) and give this place one more chance - sadly, it was our last.

    Food was mediocre at best. Quail was greasy and soggy. Steak had no flavor and was over cooked. And the fact that all of the food is ordered from an app is very strange given the high cost ($200 for a family of 4, which included 2 cocktails). Possibly the worst dinner I have had in Austin in years.

    Honestly, I never leave reviews, but last night was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in Austin in a long time. First, the contactless ordering system and the printed menu had variances and was hard to know what you were actually ordering. Second, we placed our order. Drinks, two starter style dishes (salad and pork terrine), and two entrees (steak and risotto). Our drinks came out quickly, then 42 minutes later I got up to inquire why we had no food yet. Then immediately our first course showed up and we were told the other two dishes would be soon. It was as if there was no attempt to course the food out. And with no waiter, we really had no check in to fill the 40+ minutes. Then we barely ate the steak and risotto. Steak was severely over cooked, risotto was not good. It had a mystery cheese that wasn’t listed on either menu. And of course, no check back to inquire about food or steak temp.

    Where to start…. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Austin and we were all very excited to eat there before the theater. However, when we arrived at our reservation time the restaurant was locked up with no notice on the door that they would be closed. After having to provide my credit card information to make the reservation, in case we didn’t show, the place was locked up like Fort Knox. It wasn’t until someone in our party looked at instagram we figured out that someone that works there contacted COVID and they were closed, which we totally understand the necessity, but why weren’t those with reservations notified or at the least a note placed on the door for those that showed up?

    Pre-pandemic, this was one of my favorite lunch spots. However, my recent visit was either an aberration, or the business is simply not managing well during these tougher times. There are multiple discrepancies between the paper menu and the online menu you must access via QR code to place your order, which makes ordering very confusing. Additionally, the food seems to have taken a hit. I ordered a salad with shrimp added, but what I received was a bowl of watery leaves with no dressing and some underripe avocado with unpeeled shrimp on top. I've never intentionally ordered peel-and-eat shrimp on top of a salad - the lack of menu clarity struck again on that one, but I could have rolled with it. The shrimp were fishy-smelling and poor in quality, though, so I ended up going home and heating up some soup. The ambiance is still lovely, and the patio is phenomenal on a nice day, but I won't be returning to eat the food again.

    They had 4-5 staff members But no service You were suppose to order on line from table 3 roses but no other white sparkling wine . Not a welcoming experience. Use to frequent, second thoughts next time.

    The ambiance and service were great but the food wasn't very impressive. Both entrees we ordered lacked a certain level of flavor diversity and the steak was definitely a lower quality cut than what was advertised. Would go back for drinks but probably not dinner.

    I have been in a few times recently and it’s just not the same, it feels like delivery with the toast ordering. My food came out dry and overcooked, the steak was a lot of gristle and just unpleasant for medium rare it was pretty well done but it was so dark I didn’t notice at first until a few bites in and the waiter never came back. I just kind of stomached through it which was probably my mistake but we were busy talking and had already waited quite a while for our food. At that point I didn’t want to disrupt the evening so far in. It upset me more because it seemed very dead they may be understaffed. Regardless it was the worst and only bad meal I have had at Hillside and this new system makes me really hate what used to be one of my favorite establishments l. I am embarrassed how much I had pumped the place up to friends.

    None of the food was seasoned with salt at all. My steak was 50% fat and grizzle and was raw. The lighting was so dark you could barely read the menu without using the flashlight on our phones. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

    The cell phone ordering system did not work. Even if it did it eliminates the service usually provided by servers. That’s the only reason for the 4 stars. It was otherwise great and the manager was very helpful.

    I was really looking forward to a nice dinner. Unfortunately we were very disappointed.. short ribs were tough and WAY to salty. Not to mention no one brings you a hot towel or wet nap for ribs or peel and eat shrimp. At no point did anyone ask us how our food was or if we needed anything. Poor customer service. A very lack luster experience to say the least. Servers do not wait on you at all. You have a QR code to do all orders. This creates a very cold hospitality experience. Not worth the price. Nothing special.

    At first glance, (and with help of location and proximity to Paperboy and Franklin's, etc.) Hillside Farmacy feels like a go-to spot for a lite bite or a properly made classic cocktail. After all, it is French, in theory, and you expect simple classics made well. Being one for a bit of denigration, I joked about the painted window offering oysters whereas the menu offered none. Speaking of menus, their in-house order menu is different in small ways from there online. Which I have found to be true of many places during these covid times. They have 5 items for breakfast, 2 with grits as an option for, but they had no grits. They had no avocados. My girlfriend and I split the yogurt and granola which was simple but the ingredients felt solid enough. Good honey. The chicken salad sandwich was not good. The salad was overly wet and it came with tomato and lettuce and not all the other delicious ingredients the menu claimed. We ordered carajillos as well and they were basic and unmixed. Licor 43 sitting at the bottom and no spoons on the table so I stirred with my dining fork. Since there was no classic table service I decided not to wait. You want a good carajillo try radio maybe. I'm in the service industry several places in Austin and I was disappointed in the experience. I actually hesitated to give less than 20 percent tip for a second but then came to my senses.

    had to order and pay from QR code which was slow, annoying, and clunky (you had to click on several buttons to get the order to go through). food was of low quality from the last time i ate there (a couple of years ago). the pork ribs were tough. the salad was bland. the french fries were good. even though the bar was a few feet away, i couldn't order the drink i wanted, i could only order what was on the menu.

    The touchless experience is getting ridiculous. I was happy that we were given real menus even though they were disposable but having to input our order via our phones and pay on our phones is dumb and makes me feel like we are at a fast food establishment not a decent sit down restaurant. The only time we saw our server was when she delivered our food. Absolutely no interaction or no ability to get a better description of the items from a real person. When we did receive our meal the “Kale Salad” came out with romaine lettuce. Not kale. When I told the server this is not kale she said she would check with the chef. Wait, you are going to check with the chef to verify this salad is not kale?! The food was subpar and the service even worse.

    I've dined here in the past and the food and service has been wonderful. However, last night's experience was horrible. The restaurant now requires guests to place their order via the scanning code and they won't even help you you have to order everything online. And to make matters worse they're online menu doesn't necessarily work and won't even show everything that they have available. So what I'm saying is the service is horrific and I'm not sure why people would want to go here so they can practically be their own service. Get it together!

    I would give 0 stars for service if I could. I knew going in that we would be ordering through an app, but no one prepared us for the experience and no one spoke more than a word or two as they delivered our meals. This lack of communication spoiled any hope of an enjoyable meal. In the first place, we ordered our appetizer (a cheese plate) and a couple of glasses of wine to drink with it. We also ordered our entrees at the same time, thinking they would give us some time between courses. Not so much. We got our entrees just a couple of minutes after they served the cheese plate. Since the entrees were hot, we were forced to set aside the cheese plate. As it happens, the cheese plate was terrible, so it wasn't a great loss, in a way. I honestly have had better cheese plates from HEB. Hardly any cheese, the server didn't tell us what anything was (there was a mystery fruit/vegetable that I would have liked to have identified), the honey was almost nonexistent, and the largest component was a very strong mustard. The mustard took up nearly a third of the serving board. I got the BBQ pork ribs with potato salad. The ribs are OK. The sauce was unusual and not bad. The potato salad was off putting, mostly because it was too heavily flavored by the same strong mustard that was on the cheese plate. My wife got a hamburger, and she said it was fine. That lackluster meal served all at once could have been improved with a tiny bit of communication. Someone could have walked us through the menu and told us to order the entrees when we were ready for them. The need completely rethink their cheese plate strategy. How about getting that from Antonelli's like so many other restaurants? Plus, our table (outside) kept teetering. A napkin could have solved that, but I never had a chance to ask anyone. We will not be back.

    We totally love this restaurant! We had not been since before the pandemic, and we were excited to go back. We were very disappointed to find out (only after we arrived) that full table service is not available. We ordered through an app and did not have a server. It was NOT a restaurant experience. It was like ordering takeout. They should definitely make this clear while you are making your reservation. Big disappointment.
