Great server (Jill), delicious cocktail (Negroni as it should be made), delicious appetizer (Shrimp chop salad), lovely salmon with creative sides, heavenly chocolate mousse dessert. A little loud as restaurant filled up - but just people having a good time.

A group of fine us came on a Sunday evening after an afternoon concert. We ate in the bar, which was hardly occupied. Folks had fairly light dinners, drinks and wine, lots of conversation. Food was as fine as is usual at Higgins, service friendly and flawless. A totally enjoyable evening.

Higgins always is a high quality restaurant. It's where we go for special occasions and whenever we want a super-delicious meal. I highly recommend Higgins to anyone who wants a great dining experience.

I’ve always had high hopes for Higgins. I’ve eaten there a few times and always come away unimpressed. This time was no different. I’ve sat at a table in the past, but since I was solo this time, I decided to eat at the bar. I was nicely greeted and served an amuse from the kitchen. Good start! The friendly bartender read me the specials and I chose the beef terrine for a starter and the halibut and roasted cauliflower with a tamari reduction for my main. The beef terrine was good, but the spicy mustard overpowered the dish with horseradish flavor. For the main, the halibut was tough and dry while the tamari reduction was far too salty for the cauliflower and the halibut. For dessert, I had a forgettable chocolate mousse that was too dense only to be saved by a good 10 year tawny port. But that wasn’t the worst part. Higgins is clearly a locals joint. If you’re a local, you get special treatment. That’s fine, but when you give the regulars a taste of your new special infused liquor, you should probably give the only other person at the bar a taste as well. Especially since he’s a solo diner that just spent $100+ on dinner. Seriously, way to make me feel welcome. Anyhow, your mileage may vary. Other people seem to enjoy this place, but I’ve never had any luck with it.

Très bonne cuisine en particulier le Grilled marinated pork chop. Plutôt rare de manger ce plat aux US. En tout cas c’était parfait arrosé d’un excellent rouge de Californie. Bravo !

Higgins restaurant was an icon when I first moved to Portland. I used to love to drop by for Happy Hour. There was such a vibrancy in the air and the food and cocktails were supreme. Higgins was one of my first experiences with farm to table. Last night felt very different. My French 75 was mediocre and our dinner choices lacked quality. The fingerling potatoes were very greasy and so was our pasta dish. The cheese platter was lacking- 3 chunks of cheese with a few strawberries and a handful of crackers for which we were charged a whopping $38. Unfortunately, we will not be rushing back anytime soon.
