    Higgins, one of Portland’s pioneering farm-to-table restaurants, lives up to its legacy. The atmosphere buzzes with energy—busy but welcoming, with a warm, timeless charm that reflects its deep roots in the city’s food scene. The commitment to local, seasonal ingredients comes through in the food coming out of the busy kitchen. Dishes are thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor. I prefer the noise and energy of the bar. Others may prefer the quieter dining room. A minor blemish was a disappointing dessert but a glass of Sauternes more than made up for it. Higgins remains a true Portland classic. Get there while you still can.

    Love Higgins, always have, but when it’s jammed, as it was, kitchen attention slips/ slipped - very slow delivery and things overcooked. Still good overall, but usual excellence suffers. Glad to see things busy, but it can be hard for all when things are too slammed. Maybe dial back capacity just a bit to ease up on hardworking staff.

    Our dinner was fabulous. My daughter and I had the specials- salmon and halibut dishes, perfectly prepared. Husband had the pork chops also done to perfection. Unfortunately, we were too full on our main dishes and shared appetizer that we couldn’t try the deserts! They sounded too good but had to pass this time. Service was good, ambience as well. We’ve been coming to Higgins for years, and have only had good experiences. Definitely a well established Portland restaurant, we hope it continues to be around for many many years to come!

    Always a pleasure to dine here! Started with the best gazpacho I’ve ever had, followed by the razor clam pasta.

    Best overall restaurant in Portland for 35 years. Locally sourced food, all delicuous, something for everyone. Great cocktails and beverage choices. Don’t hesitate - go now

    We had an awesome lunch yesterday at Higgins Restaurant. The radiatore pasta with Oregon razor clams was superb, as was the beef brisket pastrami sandwich 😋. Phenomenal farm-to-table menu & service are very much alive 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏼👏🏼.

    You will simply not find a better restaurant anywhere near Portland—or in most other places for that matter. Everything is always perfect and a notch above expectations. (Except the noise level: energetic is an understatement. But don’t let that stop you. You can talk with your spouse at home. Take them to Higgins for something truly special.)

    We just had a truly great meal. 3 starters and 3 mains and everything was 100%. Honestly, it was the best dinner we have had in Portland in quite some time.

    Three of us had Sunday dinner together at a booth in the bar. The place was pretty full and lively, but not noisy. Actually, a very pleasing ambiance. We were all completely smitten with our meals, appetizers and entrees and desserts every one. Quality of ingredients and preparation all first-rate. Service was friendly and prompt without being pushy in any way. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
