Great ambience, friendly and efficient staff that are there for you to have a great experience and delicious food!!!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Piggins on September 21st. We both had the vegan corn soup, which was lightly spiced and tasty. I had the salmon patty on brioche bread that was excellent. My husband was very pleased with the turkey schnitzel on a bun. The restaurant was careful to follow the CDC guidelines of servers wearing masks, having good spacing between tables, sanitizing the tables and chairs between customers and providing liquid sanitizer for customers. We look forward to returning for future lunches.
Excellent food and relaxed venue. Tables were more than adequately spaced and the staff followed all safety protocols.
Higgins is always consistently good food. Piggins appears to continue this trend and does not disappoint. The burger was phenomenal. One of the best burgers I’ve had in town. The other items we had like the heirloom tomato/burrata and the gazpacho were also excellent. So nice to be able to eat outside and also have the same high quality food we’re used to from Higgins. Thank you!!
it was closed when we got there and did not want to eat outside due tot he smoke
Piggins never opened on Friday night to honor my reservation. My party drove to the venue and all was closed. I received no notification from the restaurant as to the event closure. There was no message on the answering machine. I realize we're in trying times but the lack of notification was not responsible.
Best wait-staff, phenomenal food, creative atmosphere at Higgins Piggens, just a great restaurant all around!
One of the few good restaurants left in downtown Portland that is open.
Great outdoor setting and delicious food. Glad this Portland classic is still going strong
Outdoor, umbrellas. Socially distanced
One of the world’s best hamburgers
They’ve done an excellent job of creating a nice dining experience in Covid times. The outdoor space at the Historical Society was nicely set up - better than it looks in the pictures. The food was as always, delicious. Cocktails were decent. Not a fan of the paper plates and plastic utensils, but if that’s what’s necessary, so be it.
A bit disappointing. We had come a week ago and everything was excellent. This week our dinners were overcooked, and the waiter misunderstood several different requests we had.
Met with friends for dinner. All had a good time.
We needed to get out. This was a great way to do it. Food was great.
A friend took me out to Higgins Piggins--the open-air extension of Higgins Restaurant on the patio at the Oregon Historical Society. It was a lovely place for a celebration. The service was excellent; the attention paid to health safety during coronavirus emergency was much appreciated. Had a delicious hamburger and cider. This was lunchtime and not too busy (Labor Day Saturday), and sitting looking out at the South Park Blocks was so restful. Reservation system worked perfectly. The food is not the cheapest but the quality was excellent, so worth it.
Wonderful that Higgins has found a way to be open during the COVID crisis on the OHS patio. Food/beverage options as always are fabulous. Occasionally there is some interesting ambiance coming from the park blocks (positive & negative).
Food was fantastic - the same excellent local and seasonal cuisine you would expect indoors. Service got off to a rough start but recovered. Would REALLY love it if they had real plates and cutlery. Everything else at least as good as can be expected under COVID circumstances.
The outdoor venue facing the south park block in the courtyard of the Oregon Historical Society was beautiful and serene. The tuna dinner special was excellent.
After going to the Portland Art Museum, I went across the street to have lunch at Piggins. Given our current environment, the experience was lovely and helped me feel like a real person again.
One of Portland’s best restaurants. Outdoor seating in the evening, peaceful and relaxing. Delicious food, unobtrusive service.
Delicious food in a lovely setting. We hope to return as much as possible before the weather changes.
Love the ambiance of the patio .
Nothing better on a summer evening than to enjoy company and good food.
Outdoor setup around the corner from the actual restaurant, at the Oregon Historical Society's front patio. Surviving crazy coronavirus times and doing it well.
What a wonderful setting on the Park blocks! The large terrace is put to great use with tables spread out and umbrellas to provide shade as needed. The food was tasty and the perfect portions. There were specials and the cocktails looked good though I went the wine route. Wish the wine list was larger - but understand the circumstances. We bought some of our own bottles and was fine paying the $15 corkage fee. Service as alwasy was top notch and let us linger. SOOO glad you are in the heart of Portland!
awesome outdoor patio experience, intimate and charming. The food is magnificent and the service first class. Don't miss this!
Great outdoor space. Everyone should go!!! Terrific job, well done.
Piggins is a gem of a concept. I hope lasts after the virus is gone.
The restaurant was set up in historical society courtyard. They were using disposable plates and plastic dinnerware. The bloody maria and mint julep were perfect! The gazpacho with tuna was a surprise as to how good and interesting it was. The pan roasted salmon was excellent. The burger was very good but a little pricy. The staff was friendly and solicitous. The entire experience was up to the Higgins high standards even under difficult covid circumstances.
A perfect Summer evening setting.
Tried Higgins Piggins for the first time. This marriage of Higgins Restaurant and the Oregon Historical Society plaza is nothing short of phenomenal! Thoughtful spacing, a beautiful view and perfect weather.
An heirloom tomato salad w/creamy burrata cheese and fresh basil (maybe a little more basil than just a garnish) set up the entrées. Three-cheese ravioli and wild, line-caught fresh salmon were both successful, although the salmon was clearly the star. Vegetables were fine, but the accompanying polenta cake was not up to the fish. It had texture, but lacked clear flavor. No complaints about the ravioli, which was nicely sauced and disappeared quickly.
Almond cake was a fine finish — light and moist, w/peach slices, fresh raspberries and a dollop of Chantilly cream. Coffee was good and the beer selection was excellent.
Service was informal, friendly and deft, but not entirely attentive. No feeling of actual neglect, however.
Would eat dinner here twice a week if it were possible. When HP’s plaza outpost is forced to give way to inclement weather, Portland will lose a fine dining venue. Let’s hope it returns next year.
Lovely patio setting and service but the food blew us away - incredible! Greg Higgins continues his magic with fresh local ingredients and creative cuisine.
Lovely setting up on the patio next to the park. Food and service were excellent. The salmon and hamburger we had were cooked to perfection.
Great use of space. Superb hospitality.
Now all we need is a canvas top with heaters for fall n winter.
Thanks for making adjustments during these challenging period.
A real treat--the burgers were fantastic, the rose wine a great thirst-quenching bargain, and everything looked delicious.
Ate outdoors at Piggins on a warm quiet Saturday. Food was outstanding just like the indoor Higgins that we love.
Wonderful outdoor setting, lovely live music, tasty cocktails, delicious food!
Three nights ago, had dinner with friends at Piggins Higgins, Higgins temporary new location: Oregon Historical Society Plaza across the park from the Portland Art Museum. Fabulous experience dining al fresco at their outdoor restaurant. Tables spaced 12' or so apart, serene and lovely ambiance, the usual top-level professional and attentive staff and service with owner Greg Higgins himself welcoming diners at the entrance.
The food was fantastic, as always, with numerous menu options along with cocktails and wine. I'm vegan and Higgins (Pigging Higgins)always offers several incredible vegan and vegetarian soup, salad, and entree choices.
Piggins has a European cafe feel plus great food and drinks. What’s not to love!
Lovely outdoor setting, careful attention to sanitation. Delicious food.
Really fun to be in the Museum courtyard. What a great idea. It's pretty quiet up there on the Park Blocks right now. Peaceful. Service was excellent. It was so good to get out with our nephews in the fresh air for great food and drinks. We had Gazpacho, Salmon, burgers. Everything yummy. We'll do it again.
During our lunch on Wednesday, Co-owner Paul petted a large Dog. We watched and he never washed his hands afterwards! Never used sanitizer!
Several minutes before petting the dog, Paul took our drinks from a runner, carrying the drinks with his bare hands wrapped around the glass right up to the rim.
When the floor manager violates basic rules of service, what can we expect of the kitchen and the rest of the staff?
We have dined at Higgin’s for over 20 years. We are in shock. How can we go back and help Higgin’s survive?
