Please change your menu on Open Table. Was super disappointed with the menu. We are long time fans, but paying $80.00 for burgers is ridiculous.
Terrific experience as always. Looking forward to future dining.
We have eaten here a few times before covid and it was great. The outside seating was nice. The food this time had no flavor or it was over loaded with weird matching sauces that don’t usually go with the dish. We were seated on their last reservation but when it was time to pay our waiter was seriously no were to be found. So we had to ask a different server a few time as it was getting cold out to cash out. Our real waiter showed back up after missing for 20 mins after. I am sure it’s hard to manage. It seemed like the chef did not taste the food.
Fine dining in gorgeous setting - what a perfect way to resume life following the pandemic restrictions! The innovative menu and perfect execution made for a memorable evening. Looking forward to many fine meals on the patio this summer.
Higgins Piggins may have been a COVID-19 pivot to continue Higgins's delicious tradition, but it has one of the best outdoor settings in Portland to enjoy an always-wonderful meal from a terrific local kitchen. When COVID-19 is a distant, unhappy memory, I hope Higgins Piggins will still be serving meals on the Oregon Historical Society's glorious patio.
And for a perfect afternoon/evening: explore the OHS exhibits before or after your meal!
We loved our first lunch at Piggins on the Oregon Historical Society patio. It was a sunny day with a light breeze, absolutely perfect weather. And the view from our table was lovely, including lots of trees and the wonderful Lewis and Clark mural on the side of the adjacent building. But the best part was the food. I had the Spiced Chickpea Crepe with Grilled Asparagus, which was delicious and full of bold flavors, unusual for a vegetarian dish. My husband had an old favorite, the Open Faced Carman Beef Brisket Pastrami sandwich, which was as perfect as ever. We each also had one of Piggins' NA mocktails, a Virgin Moscow Mule, which was lively and refreshing. Then of course we had to have dessert, too, for which I'll give the full descriptions: "Feuilletée of puff pastry with Black Sheep fresh cheese and rhubarb ginger compote" and "Bittersweet chocolate mousse parfait with hazelnut pebbles, chantilly and candied mint" both as exquisite as they sound. The service was perfect, as it has always been at Higgins. There's nothing we would have wanted to be different -- it was really a perfect meal.
This was our first restaurant meal in over a year! A lovely setting across from the Portland Art Museum. Attentive and friendly service. Food was very good, not quite Higgins’ usual standards. The only big disappointment was dessert which was small (for $11) and more studied than delicious. We will, however, return again.
We're so glad you're back!
We didn't think the quinoa added anything to the soup although the broth and vegetables were delicious.
It is a refreshing place to meet with friends and enjoy the season will good drinks and good food.
Eating at Piggins was not the traditional Higgens fine dining experience, but overall the food was good, service was excellent.
Fantastic outdoor pation at Historical Society. Could use a little ambient music. Great friendly staff.
The food is always inventive and magnificent. Thank you!!!
Delicious as always. We love the variations on fisherman’s stew. Tonight was a verde stew for one entree. And the other was a chickpea crepe with asparagus and spring vegetables. Starter shared of bay shrimp in choux puffs.
very interesting main courses. Really delicious as always.
True classic! Been a staple in Portland forever and am happy to help keep the doors open.
Need more vegan options or easy modifications. Thought you would have more given farm to table.
Only 4 dishes were offered. I ordered the pasta and it was disappointing. My husband ordered the steak-at least that was good. I was not impressed with the food options and the pasta.
Excellent service. Excellent food.
Higgins is a classic. We have gone for lunches pre-pandenic sitting at the bar enjoying wonderful food and wine since Greg opened. Dinner in the main restaurant is always a special treat. We highly recommend Higgins.
Wonderful people . . . Excellent food
Vaccinated and great to be back enjoying this staff and splendid food
Excellent food and service.
The ambiance needs work.
Consistently the best restaurant in Portland.
Cozy place with a variety of a selection with small menu. Service, food and ambiance were great. Will definitely come back next tome in Portland. I had the filet which was excellent (not a bargain at $56), we had halibut (fish special) and crab cakes all delicious!
A dinner planned with good friends, in celebration of a birthday and life in general.
The menu is always stand out and this visit did not disappoint! Beautiful created cheese board, lovely entrees, mouth watering desserts and lovely wine choices.
Our wait team was perfect and truly managed the pandemic guidelines like pros.
Thankful they are open and highly recommend securing a reservation.
Delicious food but a bit overpriced compared to similar places downtown. Limited options for main courses, relatively small portion sizes. The ambiance used to be better too (the dining room looks quite plain now after covid). Our waiter was very friendly, and everything we ordered was yummy.
Thank you for another wonderful evening with an amazing server and incredible food!
Great atmosphere and friendly people. Fine food and drinks!
A wonderful way to spend an evening, great food and hospitality, and of course friends!
It was obviously not the best experience we’ve ever had at Higgins, but that was primarily due to COVID-19 restrictions. Still great food, service and value. Cannot wait for things to get back to normal.
First dinner out for 13 months due to Covid. Loved once again being at one of my favorite restaurants. I'll be back!
I was sorely disappointed that my oysters were salted☹️I also had to request salt as my steak was completely unseasoned. Aside from that and an exceptionally long wait because our waiter was “busy” I would say it was a mediocre experience for a $200 dinner. Will not be coming back
Food was very well prepared and presented. High quality. Ambiance was very subdued and decor was so plain as to make it less enjoyable. Go for the food.
I've been to Higgins a few times and never had a bad experience. Great atmosphere, knowledgeable and engaging staff and the food is some of the very best representation of NW cuisine. I've recommended Higgins to friends and family many times. Kudos to Greg, Paul and the entire staff.
Great as always!!
Higgins is a very small restaurant - but that is the exact ambiance one needs to be in a cozy environment with friends and loved ones. Highly recommend it !
The waiter was friendly and professional and the food was exquisite, well-presented and prompt.
As always, the food and service was great. I can’t wait until Higgins and all of the Portland restaurants return to their former grandeur!
It was our first time dining inside a restaurant in a year so we decided that we’d spend it at our favorite restaurant! Food, service, and ambiance were superb as usual! Can’t wait to return!
We had dinner with out of town friends. Had a great time! Excellent food and perfect service.
Always a safe choice. The service is some of the best in town.
