We've had great experiences at Herbie's, but last night was not one of them. The staff was encouraging people to eat outside, but it was too breezy for us. We stood around awhile and finally got seated inside. We were taken to a large, completely empty, back dining room. The waiter brought my husband a Diet Coke with lime. The Coke was completely flat, and he forgot the lime. It took a few minutes to get a new one. After he took our orders, he came back later, like an afterthought, and asked if we'd like bread. Finally! I ordered what I thought would be a light meal, a broccoli appetizer and a side of au gratin potatoes. The portions were so big, I couldn't make a dent in it. The waiter told me -- at the end -- that the appetizers are meant to be shared! Also the potatoes. There was NO indication of that on the menu. My husband's steak was underdone. We may try Herbie's again, but not for a long time.

The patio is the best in Clayton. We had the escargot and mussels both were great. The new menu has a lot more diversity and has something for everyone. Our server was so kind and sent out a birthday dessert without us even having to mention it to them. It was a great experience and will be back soon.

Food was amazing. Our server was not the best. Our cups went empty, had to ask multiple times for mayo, and he was just not attentive. But it was not bad to the point I wouldn’t go back. I will totally go back!

It was very busy for a week day night but was seated quickly. We had the signature espresso martini which was very tasty. The server suggested the halibut special and that was amazing. For dessert we split the chocolate tort and lemon tart both were great. We had a wonderful night on the patio. We will definitely be back.

Two of the four entries had the wrong ingredients. The service was indifferent. We split the bill four ways (evenly), and the waiter handled the return of the cards and bills poorly. Definitely not a $30 lunch, particularly with no alcohol.

The restaurant did not have enough servers so our server was always in a rush. The other employees have brought out our food. Literally just walked out, drop the plate and walked away. This is my fourth time at Herbie’s and probably my last.

I ordered chicken salad on a croissant. The chicken salad tasted off, for some reason. I would never get it again. I think they need to rework the recipe. The croissant wasn't toasted and maybe that would have helped. The fries were good, though. I should have gotten the breakfast sandwich, so I would recommend Herbie's but not the chicken salad.

It was a beautiful evening on their patio. The weather was perfect as was the service. We heard they had a new chef and were pleasantly surprised with the improvement in food. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered and can't wait to return to try more food.

Good food and a pleasant experience. Ate outdoors. The service was a little slow to start, but then was OK. My only complaint is that they substituted a wine for something on the list, and the substitution was not as good as what was on the wine list. They should have just said the wine was unavailable.

Good restaurant with a good menu. My colleague enjoyed his shrimp pasta. I ordered a Caesar and onion soup. The soup was great, but my salad was mostly brown romaine which made it unappetizing. The pieces I had were great, so a good dressing and plenty of pecorino…just whoever cleaned and used this romaine obviously wasn’t paying attention.

We were just going to sit in the bar area but they had a party so it was packed. We ended up in the main dining area. I didn’t realize it had been remodeled. It looks great! Our server was knowledgeable and polite. I had a chicken pasta that was flavorful and light. My friend had the shark special. I’ve never had shark before. It was mild and delicious. The chocolate tort alone is worth coming back for.

Upon arrival, the greeter was very pleasant and accomodating. The server was very pleasant and attentive to our needs. I had steak and eggs for brunch. The meal as a whole was delicious 😋, however, the potatoes were undercooked. No worries, I took them home and put the in the oven the next day and they were fine. I have been to brunch at Herbies approximately 4 times. I usually have a great experience. 👍 See you next time.

I have dined at Herbie's in the past, and was there last night for the St. Louis Crisis Nursery's annual Celebrity Night. The weather (I love the patio), food and service were excellent! One of my guests, a loyal supporter of the Crisis Nursery, had never been to Herbie's and was impressed. As a longtime advocate for the Crisis Nursery, I am especially grateful to Herbie's for their support of my favorite organization. I believe in supporting our local restaurants, especially those that support our local non-profits. Thank you, Herbie's!

It was a beautiful day so we took advantage of the awesome patio. The service was fast and friendly. They have a 3 for $30 on the lunch menu. The caprese salad had local tomatoes and cheese. We also split the veggie sandwich and French dip. We will definitely return.

The staff is very nice and knowledgeable of the menu, always happy to help with recommendations. My wife got the steak and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare, I got the shrimp fettuccini and the noodles were bouncy and shrimp was delicous, there was enough shrimp for every bite of noodles. Dark Chocolate Bread Pudding was recommended and was one of the best bread puddings I’ve ever had. This was the 2nd time I’ve eaten here and it was fantastic and consistent above everything else.

The patio is awesome. My friends had a couple of the signature cocktails and they were all good. They have a nice wine list also. The Brussels were delicious. We had a couple of the pasta dishes and the chicken entree everything was very good. We will be back to try the happy hour.
