It was nice to see Haywood’s open again. We’ve missed going there and Sandra was awesome.
We had a wonderful Sunday evening dinner during Haywood’s Jazz programming. Our food was delicious!
The salmon was excellent!!!
Delicious food. Worth the hefty price. The service was tremendous and music was very good.
Thanks for your great review. Hope to see you again soon. Stephanie Ring Restaurant Manager
Thank you so much for how you handled our birthday celebration for my father!
We really enjoyed our experience. We sat in the piano room & loved the ambience. The restaurant is a neat place with tables in lots of different, small room clusters. We sat at a “high top” table right by the piano. And, I mean right by the piano! But, it was actually lovely. It was loud at first, but we had no problem having a conversation throughout our meal. The meal was very good. The lamb lollipop appetizer was delicious. I had steak and my husband had duck. Both were very good. Our sin joined us for dessert and had a HUGE piece of chocolate cake that was delicious!
Entrees were very good. Caesar salad was not good. One large piece of romaine and minimal tasteless dressing.
Server was not well trained and inattentive. No water offered.
The ambiance and decoration is amazing! Some of the food items are priced well and others you are paying way more than what it's worth. I had a NY strip that alone was $30 and it was about 1/3 fat. Then $5 a side for the rest of my plate. So I'd say it's good, not great.
Outstanding in all respects! Great food, service, and the piano player was perfect.
Wasn’t great, but wasn’t bad. The first glass of wine was like vinegar, but was told the bottle was just opened. The service was really slow. The food tasted decent and the atmosphere was good. We got sat in a corner in the back of the restaurant by a fire door. There was a nice cold draft coming through the door the entire meal. I wouldn’t choose to go back.
A superb experience all around. We took advantage of a couple of specials (e.g., Uncorked Wednesday) to dine with our daughter. Food was beautifully prepared. Our waiter was attentive without being fussy. The wine list was strong, and I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the "rail" Scotch.
Haywood’s is my number one stop for a great meal with friends in Lexington. We are always greeted with a warm smile from the front, given prompt service, and taken care of throughout the meal. The restaurant is beautiful inside, and the bar is cozy (their maple old fashion is great). Excellent wine selection, and the food is superb. The piano in the front room is a wonderful touch but sometimes loud - but you can be seated in another room for a good conversation.
My wife's anniversary dinner. Our meal was superb, as was the presentation, and so was the service. Our waiter was very friendly, patient and knowledgeable - helpful - truly there to serve. We met the Chef and Sioux Chef who wanted to make sure we enjoyed our meal - wow, I don't think that happens too often these days! Had swordfish and scallops - both of which were excellent - best Caesar salad I've had in a long time - with crunchy parm & Nueske bacon bits - wow.
This is our go to in Lex but the service was bad at best and food average . It’s a beautiful setting in a beautiful restaurant but was truly disappointing for the first time! Waitress took 45 minutes to get water to the table , was stressed , bad at communication and spilled oyster juice all over me and never even commented on it. Really took w away from a lovely night.
I found Haywoods to be just ok, which was disappointing. I ordered the seafood platter and there was very little seafood for the $45 price. It’s also very loud in the restaurant because of the piano. Overall I wouldn’t recommend it and won’t be back.
Food is ridiculously expensive for the quality. We ordered a 'Cesar Dinner Salad' It consisted of 3 lettuce leaves the size of a saucer laid end to end with a teensy sprinkle of baked cheese flakes and even less tiny nips of bacon. That's it! Never again. What a joke.
Wonderful!!! Jazz music in an intimate setting with great food and wine! Excellent!!
Thanks Cathy. Happy you enjoyed your evening. Stephanie Ring Restaurant Manager
Been there many times and know the chef.
Maybe it was just a bad night. Dinner for two was ridiculously slow. Took an hour for our entree to finally show up, and then the steak for 2 was way underdone.
By that time we had waited too long, drank all our wine, and wound up leaving most of it.
Sorry You had to wait for your entree. We will certainly take your input under advisement for the next guests. If you are ever unhappy with the preparation of your food please let me know at that time and I will expedite it properly in a timely manner. Hope to see you again soon, Stephanie Ring Restaurant Manager
Food average. Pricey. Food took forever to get. Server inattentive.
Food was good, but not particularly warm. Courses were brought to us too quickly. Not worth the price.
Always solid. Good service, good food, good value. Always love the charcuterie board as a shared app. The grouper special was excellent. Should consider some other wine options - better quality and prices from southwest and central France, from Spain and Portugal. Lower end Argentine Malbecs flooding the American market are mostly boring. Italian wines generally unreliable because of their very lax denomination policies for so many of their wines. Wine list feels like some politically correct hodgepodge.
Thank you for your comments. We appreciate your feedback and will take it under consideration. Happy that you enjoyed your evening and hope to see you again. Sincerely, Stephanie Restaurant Manager
Absolutely amazing. The wife and I had a great night out and enjoyed the food and environment.
We dined at Haywood's for my dad's birthday. I had made a reservation through OpenTable but then called to make sure we had a decent table and request a little something be done afterwards for his birthday, like a candle with dessert. While the woman I spoke with was kind and offered to make sure we got a decent table, the whole birthday thing was overlooked. I knew it would be hard to slyly mention it to the waiter at the actual dinner, that's why I called in advance. Was very disappointed that that was overlooked. I realize it was a busy night, but still. And, the noise level was intense. Otherwise, we enjoyed.
Everything was awesome, music, food, and the service!
Upscale cosmopolitan vibe.
Small, casual, tavern-styled downtown restaurant nicely designed. Tables decently spaced. Noise level quite high. Food somewhat of a mixed bag: Some dishes excellent ( Fall tartlet appetizer), some very good (strip steak, quail mains) , some only OK (wagyu carpaccio tasty but sliced much too thickly to be called carpaccio!). Service is friendly but a bit bumbling, inefficient, and unprepared ( 8PM rez table for 2 not ready on arrival, later arriving twosomes seated ahead of us). Very small wine list, well priced but not very creative or inspired. Pricing is a bit steep for where you are and the experience you get.
It was delicious!
Great atmosphere. Prompt service. Multiple check-ins, including one from the chef. Food excellent. Nice, well done wine list. Great oysters, too.
The service provided by Zach was outstanding as usual along with drinks made by bartender Georgia and braised short ribs by chef Troy.
The setting is very nice, but the music is too loud for the small room. While the mushroom ravioli was good, the choices are slim. A simple house salad would have been a nice additional choice. Would like to see more vegetarian choices.
Excellent as always. Nice people, nice place, delicious food.
Haywood’s is consistently great. Their menu, the presentation and deliciousness of the food, their wonderful staff and manager—all combine to make a fabulous dining experience.
Visiting my son at VMI for Parents Weekend
The piano player and bass player that played on 10/6/19 were fantastic! They really made the meal so much more enjoyable. Wait staff were friendly and accommodating. The lighting could be a little softer "warmer". They are either using cool LED bulbs or florescent lights which is a shame because the interiors are rather pretty.
Thank you for your review. We do have dimmers on our lighting and will make sure they are checked. Some of our guests have requested more light in the past. We will strive for that balance. Thanks Stephanie Ring Restaurant Manager
This review is only for brunch-extremely overpriced, underwhelming buffet selection.
Thank you for your input. We will definitely take this under advisement and improve the buffet. We appreciate you taking the time to help us improve. Stephanie Ring Restaurant Manager
Service was exceptional. Food was outstanding. The chef came out to greet us and ask us how everything was. The piano music was just right in volume, tone and selection. We had the short ribs and salmon which was cooked to perfection.
Jim, Sounds like you had a great evening. We are so pleased. Thank you for your nice review. Stephanie Ring Restaurant Manager
The food was exceptional however the service really made it an outstanding evening. Our waiter Zachary was excellent. Very knowledgeable on all aspects of the menu and made great recommendations throughout the evening. We cannot wait to go back!
Thanks for the exceptional review. We cannot wait to have you back and hope to see you soon. Stephanie Ring Restaurant Manager
