Went for joint bday celebration with my partner, steak cooked perfectly, cocktails went down too easily, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend!

Service could be better, waiter was lovely and friendly but twice our drinks order was wrong and they took so long to come. Also ordered a medium steak that was rare! Given the price you expect everything to be spot on.

I'm a long time patron of Hawksmoor, since shortly after it first opened in Spitalfields. It's been one of my go-to steakhouses for as long as I can remember, so I've given it the benefit of the doubt (despite continually declining standards) for the past few years out of loyalty and despite my better judgement. No more. Investment from PE has completely spoiled a once fine steakhouse. Quality has been compromised for volume; like a Harvester they've branched out from site to site and city to city. From sourcing cheaper meat (it's no longer from the Ginger Pig), to kitchen staff/chefs and managers who don't understand the product - let alone how it should be cooked. It's so sad. The nail in the coffin was my last visit to the Spitalfields site were we ordered a kilo of bone in Rib Eye - we asked for medium rare... and clarified that we'd rather it be undercooked than overcooked (an important clarification these days given the increasing problems we've experienced at Hawksmoor with their kitchen staff who now appear to be trained from an instruction booklet). Despite this warning came a steak that was very much a medium-well in places, and only came close to medium (not medium rare) in the centre pieces. The waitress noticed immediately when it was pointed out ("yes, that done look overdone"). However, the manageress and chef disagreed... she said: "This is how the chef cooks medium rare. We can cook it rare if you want but that's not what you asked for". I was flabbergasted. I did a double take to see if she was pulling my leg... but no, she was dead serious. I flopped one of the pitifully overdone pieces of cow on my plate and asked again "Do you really think that's even close to medium rare?" Then came the proverbial nail - "Yes" It's not enough that they've now started sourcing cheaper meat (when all other 'top' steakhouses are almost competing to outdo each other on quality and premium sourcing), but now they don't even know how to cook it.

We had lunch on Saturday and it was superb. The Shaky Pete’s was great , steaks were cooked perfectly, and the server (I think her name was Therese) was ace… Well done to all the team!

Our evening was great but sadly the oysters weren’t overly fresh and there was shell in most of them which made them unpleasant to eat. Everything else though was brilliant, especially the chataubriand (despite having to get the bigger size as they’d sold out) and the service!

Food was not worth the money. The staff proceeded to tell us multiple times we had to be done eating by 8pm, it was all very rushed and below average food.
