It was a great time. We had a beach front table and it was gorgeous
The Food was very good and the service was.great. We had a beach front seating and enjoyed the sunset.
Made a reservation for brunch after hiking Diamond Head. Loved the Eggs Benedict options!
What a treat to have a relaxing dinner at the Hau Tree Lanai. As advertised it is located down the main road at the “quiet end of Waikiki” it is nestled under Diamond Head right on the beach. The service is first rate with the maitre d, wine steward and waiter working together seamlessly. I felt like we were in a much more expensive restaurant, the service was so professional. We were impressed with the value of the chef’s tasting menu with wine pairing so we splurged on that treat. The food was delicious and the portions were just right. We felt like we got our money’s worth without feeling stuffed.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
Shrimp salad my friend had reportedly was not good. The shrimp was okay, but the greens monotonous (one type of lettuce) and far less than delicious, shall we say?
My girlfriends and I went at 12p for brunch. A waiter did not come to our table to take our drink order for at least 10 minutes. We ordered 3 guava mimosas and an iced tea. It took 15-20 minutes for our drinks. Later they told us they were trying to find the guava. We would have gladly had a few more drinks except the service was soooo slow! Also it took a long time to refill our water, and it was so hot! The food, however, was very delicious. I really enjoyed the crab cake Benedict. My friends also enjoyed their food: salmon Benedict, a salad, a burger.
Although the restaurant is smaller than I expected, it was a very impressive dinner! The mai tais were killer, our server Roger was amazing & the view was beautiful! There was live music in the background and the food (yellowtail and filet mignon) was to die for! We went on a Friday night and got to watch the weekly fireworks as well. Will definitely go back on our next trip!
I go several times every year but the last couple times not as good. This time the restaurant appeared dirty. Floors, table tops, and beach wall not clean. Our table by beach wall (the 3 foot high wall separating restaurant from beach) was nice but ants were everywhere and trails on the floor.
Our coffee tasted terrible like chemicals so we asked for new, was a little better but I still did not drink.
My loco moco “really” tasted like corn beef hash but out of a can. Gravy was thick, gloopy and the meal just was tasteless , not the same. The leafy green garnishes were totally warm and wilted though it doesn’t appear that way in photo.
My wife’s eggs Benedict was ok, too much paprika or whatever spice sprinkled on top and hollandaise sauce tasted faux, my wife ended with stomach problems later.
The service staff were nice, accomodati get and could smile a little bit more, it was a little gloomy.
Like I said, I come here to Hawaii every year for past 20 years and have always gone to the Hua Tree 3-4 times during my stay but has dwindled to now 0.
One of my favorite restaurants ih Honolulu. The food is always good. The location is the best for the sunset. And the feel is old Honolulu.
Great service and beautiful ambiance! Great food !
Celebrating our son and daughter-in-law’s anniversary. Wonderful venue. We’ve been coming for over 30 years. It’s always fine. Mahalo!
Took someone special there for Friday evening drinks, fireworks & dinner because it is my favorite place - beautiful beach, kaimanahila (diamond head), local staff, delicious food, tradewinds, sunset, music....
Incredible dinner. Had two different fish preparations and they were both outstanding. Got there earlier than our reservation so we got a table right next to the beach. The waiter told us to take our time because the table was ours for the evening. Great drinks, food, service and sunset. Make reservations as far in advance as possible. The place is small.
Hau Tree Lanai never disappoints. It is the best lunch treat that is affordable, incredible views, great food and friendly service.
We came here to celebrate my daughter and her new husband's wedding reception. We requested a table at the front overlooking the beach and under the Hau Tree and this is exactly what we got which made it a perfect setting for the occasion. The food was excellent and we all enjoyed our meals. The service was also excellent and our waiter was fantastic. We are all so glad that we choose here for the Wedding Reception and would definitely dine here again when we are next in Honolulu.
great view, nice food
The ambiance is very peaceful with an incredible view of the ocean and Waikiki. My wife had the Crab Benedict and I had the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs for breakfast. Both were excellent. Server paid lots of attention to us, but was not intrusive. You deserve to treat yourself to this wonderful experience.
Romantic setting, great food .
Our go to place for Sunday breakfast. What more could you ask—right on the ocean. Great food. Great service.
Took my niece for breakfast to celebrate your 12th birthday. Called almost a week ago for reservations & asked for a nice table for four. Called and inquired if anything could be done for her. The reply was no. We kept the reservation for our family enjoyed Easter brunch at this restaurant.
We arrived on time & stood in the reservation line. Shortly thereafter a couple came & stood in the walk in line & the hostess seated them first(thought that was strange). We were taken to our table right in the middle of the noisy dining area. Obviously not where I wanted us seated!!
We were asked if we wanted coffee which was poured promptly then within 3-4 minutes the server asked “what do yo want?” We hardly had a chance to look over the menu. Also a pleasant good morning would have been nice & welcome to the Hau Tree Lanai! The four of us ordered, drank our coffee and time passed and no server or coffee refills. Finally we had to ask. I also went to speak with the hostess & another fellow & told them that I was not pleased with our table & let them that I called about a week to make a reservation. I was told that all the tables were reserved. (A week earlier!??)
We were served our food and to say that I was disappointed with the classic eggs Benedict is putting it mildly. The Hollandaise was spicy! So glad I asked for it in the side! Eggs were cold and both English muffins were soggy because the eggs were not thoroughly drained! My sister ordered the veggie Benedict & it looked like luau leaves in a lau lau ( which is find for that dish)- dark and most unappetizing! Those veggies had been cooked beyond recognition! She only ate half of the order. Our empty plates remained on the table for a long period of time & finally we received the bill. Empty plates still remained despite the server picking up the tab!
We were charged for what we ordered but it would have been a thoughtful gesture if my niece could have received a little dessert. Next time - Halekulani!
Wunderschöne Location direkt am Strand.. Die Bäume müsste man vielleicht langsam dezent etwas zurückschneiden, damit man nicht zu sehr eingepackt ist.. Essen wunderbar! Service diskret. Ganz tolles romantisches Ambiente.
I have been coming here for many years...as a kamaina and now a California transplant. I think the quality of the food and service has been consistently good and the beach side setting on the quieter end of Waikiki is hard to beat. It"s a little expensive but I guess that comes with the view!
Love the narrative of the Hao Tree history on the back of the menu cover.
