Hanover Street Chophouse
The food was phenomenal. The service was excellent. Everything from drinks to appetizers to main courses to desert was deliver with perfect timing. Even my wife, who can be hyper-critical when dining out, walked away with no complaints.
This place never disappoints......Food is top shelf......Great service and attention to detail !!
My wife and I visited to celebrate our anniversary. I requested a “quiet corner”. We were seated in a six person booth that was almost INSIDE their open concept kitchen. Not enjoyable. My wife’s Delmonico was fine, mine was ordered medium well with a char and was delivered close to rare. I declined their offer to put it back on the grill because I wasn’t about to eat a dried out $47 steak. They did the right thing and took it off the bill but the damage was done. No point in paying a premium to visit a steak house that can’t cook a steak to order. We usually visit once or twice a year, but I think we’re done now.
Sunday menu specials to celebrate our son's 25th birthday. Excellent experience all around, perfect for special occasions.
Amazing experience as usual. It is impossible for me to go to the Chophouse and not have a very special and memorable evening.
Food and service - all 5 stars!
Nice atmosphere, the staff was friendly and helpful, but my dinner was not worth the price. It was the dry aged steak cooked medium rare. It came out cold and I did not realize why until later, but the plate it was served on was COLD. So the steak dropped in temperature significantly.
It’s too expensive to give it a second try.
Always great food and service. Glad they had wagyu on special
Service was great, food was awesome (delmonico, rack of lamb). Only comment would be the veggie side could have been cooked a little more.
Service was very good. Medley of vegetables was so undercooked as to be unpleasant. One wonders how this style of heating versus cooking became de rigeur. The method of cooking the steaks is not the best. hers was a bit underdone and when it came back it had been placed in very high heat again and was dry - plus it was saltier than at first! It should have gone into an oven for careful re-heating until medium was attained - would have been jucier. Mine was Ok but the last couple of bites were very dry. French fries very good. I do wish we had been in a booth and not in a walkway on the edge of the lounge. The clam chowder was ok but didn't taste like clam chowder. The chopped salad was fresh and a large portion. But the switch to "italian" from the proferred bleu cheese left it with no flavor at all to speak of: no spice, no oil, no vinegar, even. With the lady unhappy with the returned steak the hoped-for joy dissipated. I had asked for a small cake for two as it was our anniversary. They presented a piece of multi-layer chocolate desert - tasty I'm sure but a tad disappointing. I thought it would have been a frosted yellow cake or something, but I hadn't been specific so it's neither here nor there. She doesn't go for chocolate much. So, I was not impressed, which I should have been and hoped to be, at these prices. Too bad.
The food was very good and the portions were perfect, as usual. The waiter we had, Basil, was probably the best wait staff person I've ever had. That man was perfect. Never rushed us and knew when to come over to check on us. We've had him before. He makes the dining experience so much better. We go to the Chop House because the menu is very good, but Basil puts the experience over the top.
Food and Service is always excellent here. Steaks were both cooked perfectly, our server gave us plenty of space but never let our glasses go dry.
It was alright I don’t think I will go back..
I was looking for a new place to dine and celebrate our anniversary - happy to have come upon the Hanover St. Chophouse.
We had a wonderful table and good service (Dave was friendly & efficient), food was top notch - good steaks & sides. Dining room is beautiful & dark in the steakhouse motif. Wine list is rather extensive and wine prices are VERY reasonable relative to other steakhouses.
Both my wife and I had the "Sunday Dinner" 3 course meal which came with an app, main (with potato / veg) and dessert - a great value and food was delicious and well presented. We will be back!
In a world of mediocrity and hype, this is a World Class Steakhouse!
Attention to detail.
Excellent Food, Wine, Service, Atmosphere.
"The best restaurant in New Hampshire. "
The food was very good and the service was also good. My only problem is that I ask for specific accommodations and those requests were brushed off. I feel with the need for reservations that I should be met with a certain professionalism.
Matt waited on us and made our experience perfect. He recommended an excellent bottle of wine and had a way of describing the food that made us want to try everything on the menu. He came around just enough and at the right times and at the end he really made us laugh. The food is great at this restaurant but the wait staff set it apart from everywhere else.
Outstanding experience, as always! Service was a little slow in the beginning but was quickly rebounded following the drink order. We had a great time as always at this gem in Manchester!
Service could have been much better!
Everything was fabulous, I wished the side vegetables garnered a bit more attention--ie oven roasted, orherbed maybe? A nice mix of carrots, parsnips, onions.
Food was good, heavily salted, both the swordfish and the delmonico steak.. it was our first time visiting the restaurant, our anniversary dinner.. prices don't seem to equate the quality/portions ..
Great food and great service. Best restaurant in the Manchester area.
The chophouse exceeded my expectations. Steak, vegetables, potatoes and dessert were all excellent. Cost is above average but well worth it for high quality food and excellent service.
My wife and I were in need of a night out together after a grueling week at work; Hanover Street Chophouse did not disappoint. It was a busy evening so reservations were key. Showed early before our reservation and enjoyed a cocktail at the bar. Had excellent service at the bar and once we were seated. The food and wine were excellent, and the piano music was not so loud that we couldn’t enjoy it while also having a conversation. Great night!
HSC is sublime. I fear I overuse hyperbole when discussing or otherwise suggesting HSC as a dining destination.
The staff makes you feel like you are the only table in the room. The dishes are consistently prepared with skill. The cocktails are tasty. The wine list satisfies.
Make reservations. Come here for every celebration and days that end in Y. You will not find a better classic steakhouse in New Hampshire.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. Made a reservation to meet friends to celebrate a special birthday.
I requested a quiet booth. Very disappointed to be seated close to a table of 6 VERY loud men!
It will be a while before we return!
Wonderful! Perfect in every way!
Food was very good. Atmosphere was very nice. Overall a very good dining experience.
Great Service, Great food. They need to work on the reservations; had to wait nearly 40 minutes past our reservation time which was late to be sitting down for dinner.
This is our favorite restaurant and we usually go here for a special occasion. We were there on a Saturday night (you MUST reserve in advance) to celebrate our Daughter-in-law's birthday. The restaurant was full and there was a lot of conversations going on so I would describe it as moderate but we had no problem carrying on our table conversations and were not bothered by conversations from any other tables. Love the atmosphere and the food!!
This was our second trip here and it did to disappoint. I would never go to one of the chain steak restaurants knowing that this local gem is available. Make sure to get the bacon sizzler app.
Food and service was amazing. Great for a nice night out with friends or for a special occasion.
I’ve waited years to come here and it did not disappoint in the least. I had the marker steak and my boyfriend had surf and turf. He could cut his filet with a fork, one pass honestly! It was melt in your mouth delicious. The crust on the steaks was amazing!! Wine list for days. Our server was attentive and friendly. We will be back for a special occasion once again!
As always the best place for dinner!
A great restaurant (steakhouse primarily) with super service and outstanding food. It’s pricey, but expected for the level of food and service. What more can be said?
The Hanover chop house never disappoints !! This is my favorite restaurant. A taste of Boston without going into the city. The staff is fantastic, from valet to servers !! We had Kris & he was very attentive without being annoying 😊. I definitely recommend this restaurant for any occasion, even for just a night out.
I am a regular diner at this fine establishment which rivals similar well-known steakhouses around the country. All of the employees, from the valet parking gents to the waitstaff, are exceptional. (Basil is my favorite.) I don’t even eat meat, but I always leave very satiated and extremely satisfied.
Was very accommodating to switch from a booth to a table. They had the floral arrangement set on the table as requested and they even had a surprise Anniversary dessert.
Couldn’t ask for a better dining experience for our special occasion.
Food was excellent. Ribeye and scallops and Filet and lobster tail were both excellent. Creamed spinach was like a dessert. Great peanut butter torte with cream and several layers. Ceasar salad could’ve used a bit more dressing.
Shrimp cocktail was awesome with cocktail sauce and horse radish and a green goddes dip as well that was yummy.
Our server was wonderful and very engaging. Worth the investment for s special 40th Anniversary treat!
Really good atmosphere, friendly staff, exceptional food!
