Hanover Street Chophouse
I love the Chophouse. It never disappointing! Will be going back soon.
Love the ambiance! A two-limit martini? Seriously? Prefer one waitress ... not two. Oysters, salad, filet mignon ... delish. Why would you put apples in a cup of berries for dessert?
Overall it was a great experience, it was my wife and I first time trying the restaurant. Her Martini was made perfectly, my bourbons were neat and good. we ordered the cheese board with 4 selections, they were great, could have used more accouterments ie crackers jams apples. She ordered Filet with bacon bourbon medium was perfect, I ordered the bone in rib-eye, felt it lacked flavor even with the truffle butter. As sides we ordered truffle mac and cheese it was good, but not POW delicious, truffle tater tots great truffle taste but grainy texture, and brussel sprouts in which my wife ate. Great portion on the side dishes!! The wife ordered the sampler for dessert, carrot cake, creme brulee, and chocolate cake, all were great. Our two servers were amazing!
The chop house is our favorite spot. Never had bad meal!
Great all around.
Basel, our waiter was fabulous! Great service, great food and great experience.
Awesome food. Wonderful service. Reservations required. Very tight parking but free valet on site.
We came here for our 12 year anniversary and it was an amazing night to remember! Basil was a fantastic waiter and he made our evening so special. Delicious food. The scottish salmon... it melted in your mouth. AMAZING!
We will be back.
Always a delightful and delicious special evening. So happy to see Tartare on the regular menu!
While not a NYC steakhouse for NH it’s very good. Excellent bacon app followed by a delicious ribeye and a petite filet. Service was very good although I was surprised that our server didn’t give us plates to eat our shared bacon app. So, we used our bread plates. The cream brûlée’s were excellent. With 2 drinks apiece the meal with tip was $250
Service friendly and engaging. Martini olives tasted soapy/spoiled. Chowder watery. Not great. Steak was good. Not great. Sides were ok. Nothing special.
Booked table 2.5 weeks in advance. Sat us at the front directly next to hostess stand. Waited over 1.25 hours for entrees. Scallops were raw, one steak was undercooked by two temperatures, and another steak was over cooked by two temperatures. The clam chowder was more like bacon chowder - it was inedible. Overall experience was a big disappointment for an expensive dinner at an upscale restaurant.
everything was great ,except the noise from the bar was quite loud. We are looking forward to dining there again.
Valet parking on arrival was nice. Service was great, food spectacular. I had a 8oz Filet, partner had Scallops. Both were cooked to perfection. Carrot cake for two for dessert. It was a great dining experience and I will definitely repeat.
We had multiple dietary requirements which they accommodated without fuss
We stopped by for a late dinner after going to the Palace Theater. This was our first time and the ambiance was very good. The restaurant "closes" in about 15 min although we did make reservations and arrived on time. It took about 5 min to get seated despite plenty of open tables. We went on a Sunday and ordered the Sunday dinner 3-course option (appetizer, entree, and dessert) - a great deal on the combo. My daughter had the Kale Caesar salad (large size), Filet Mignon (8 oz), and Creme Brulee. She ate the entire dinner so I guess she really liked it. I had NE chowder, Scottish salmon, and chocolate torte, which tasted great. However, the salmon did have a large amount of white striping (fat) indicative of overly fattened farmed salmon. I ordered it hoping it might be wild salmon but that was not the case. The chef, though, did an excellent job of preparing the meal. I still hunt for the elusive wild salmon (in restaurants). Despite the fact that the restaurant closes at 8 pm, we were there until past 9:30 pm where quite a few people we still eating.
Meeting my granddaughter for a meal. Food and service were perfect and a great value
$40 Sunday Menu is a wonderful dining experience. Three courses that would please anyone. Two had the Sunday Special and loved the food. I choose the Armish Sirloin Special, a 12 oz organic steak. Cooked to perfection (medium) the pepper seasoning was a little to strong. The steak very flavorful but was on a thick and chewy side. I've had the regular NY Strip before and its a better steak just at 16 oz to big for me. All in all a wonderful dining experience and can't wait to go back. Service as usual splendid and timely between courses.
This place is awesome, the hidden jewel of we Hampshire, better than the high end chain steak houses such as Del Friscos. Service and food are always excellent and I am a Person who is not easy to please
my server was awesome!! Richard!! he rocked! very nice place to get a great meal! steak was AMAZING! def eat here again, and already refrd some friends!
Basil was very accommodating as was the waitress who changed our table away from the piano.
Food was wonderful. Our server, Agatha, was great.
Excellent food, excellent service (Meghan), great ambiance. We went for our 39th wedding anniversary. More expensive than what we normally do, since we go out pretty much every Saturday night, but it was a special occasion and it was worth every penny. We split the kale Cesar salad, which was awesome. My husband got the steak special - amazing! I got the salmon. It came a little under done for me, and they immediately took it back and cooked it to my liking. We also had the carrot cake for dessert. Good, but not the best we have ever had. My husband's wine was delicious - a Malbec recommended by Meghan and I had a cosmo - delicious! We will be back next year for our 40th!
I eat at this restaurant as often as I can. It’s not inexpensive but it is worth the price. The food and the service are outstanding. The menu is diverse enough for any taste or preference, and the specials are always great. I travel a lot and visit Steak Houses nationwide. This is one of my favorites
Every time we dine at Hanover Street Chophouse, the experience is even better than the last. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding.
A little disappointed with service but not to the degree that I would not go back. The manager did not visit our table and we could tell a lot or regulars were dining the evening we attended. The service for them was clearly more attentive. We asked for a cozy table for the birthday we were celebrating together and got one near the service station and stairs. The first we were offered was too loud with the piano and bar flanking both sides. The food was prepared quite well and the steaks were cooked to the exact request. Do not stay away but try to avoid Friday nights.
Always good food and and great ambiance. Like no other in New Hampshire!
Great Filet Mignon steak! I enjoy a GOOD small steak rather then a huge mediocre one!
I have been a guest many times and have always had a great experience and excellent food. This last visit was slightly disappointing. I didn't think my steak measured up. I am still a big fan and will return and highly recommend the Chop House
The Chophouse is always a great meal. Expensive, but I don't think you can find a better restaurant in Manchester.
Wednesday nights when other restaurants are phoning it in, the hsc brings you a dining experience from above. Couldn’t be happier.
Catherine was excellent. They are lucky to have her.
Food was excellent.
We arrived early for our reservation and let both hostesses know that when our table was ready we would be in the bar area. At the time of our reservation we still had not been seated. We went back to the hostess stand to check on our table and it was ready. I firmly believe that they forgot about us and had no intentions of coming into the bar when our table was ready/time of our reservation. Bathrooms were also located downstairs far away from our table, it was a little adventure finding it.
Overall the food was excellent. The steak was top notch and the side dishes were of mammoth proportion for 2 people. The roasted Brussels sprouts, given the sophistication of everything else on the menu, were lacking. They were, in fact, simply roasted Brussels sprouts. I felt the chef could have spruced them up a bit more to fit with the rest of the menu.
Overall I would highly recommend the Chophouse to any of my family and friends. Its on par with steak houses in Boston, conveniently located in Manchester, NH.
Food was very good. Very expensive. Patron $17. Not a value experience. We were cold at our table. If you can afford it, it’s great.
The crab cake and cheese had an ammonia smell. The clam chowder bowl was barely filled and it wasn’t hot. The French Onion soup was salty. We had gone to celebrate a wedding anniversary and there was no acknowledgement of the celebration.
Always a good meal and pleasant dining experience
Food was, as always fantastic ! However valet service is a joke ! Winter time and no parking and no valet service. You take the time to book a date and time and then have to drive around find a spot downtown and then walk back to location. Yup in the middle of winter !! So why have a valet service ??? Just to tell you “sorry” good luck finding a spot in the winter but thanks for booking here”
Will think twice about going again in winter. Disappointing detail that matters!
The Chop House has the best filet mignon I have ever tasted. It is my 'go to" every time time we dine there. My wife had the rib eye and was in seventh heaven. Check the menu for prices before you go, so you won't be surprised/shocked. Our meal, with one appetizer and a bottle of wine totaled over $250.00. Pricey for two retirees, indeed! Worth it? Every bite!
