With a hundred-year history and over three decades of providing delicious meals to both Upcountry Maui locals and visitors, our restaurant in Hali’imaile is a must-see for anyone visiting Maui. Join us for a taste of the island’s finest cuisine and an opportunity to uncover a piece of Maui’s rich history at our conveniently located restaurant near the town of Makawao and on the road to and from Haleakalā National Park.

Farm-to-table is not a new concept to us! Our restaurant has been promoting and featuring locally sourced produce, seafood, meats and products since 1988. Our dishes are a unique blend of fresh Hawaiian food, local Asian influences and modern preparations.

    I like Haliimaile General Store a lot & normally would give 5 stars. But I had a shock this time w/ my lunch bill. Note to self:always ask for the Market Price of add-ins. My fresh but simple salad ($17) mushroomed to $43 when I added a single piece of grilled mahi mahi. Just saying…ask!

    The dinner there was ok. Haven't been there in awhile. The value for the portion given could be much better. For instance, the ahi over soba noodles had only 4 slices of ahi. The sauce in the soba noodles was very heavy on flavoring. Too much soy (shoyu) sauce. The mahi over sweet mashed potatoes with a pineapple salsa was sweet with sweet and over powered the fish.

    I have been coming to this restaurant for over 25 years. Bev Gannon was the owner/chef for most of that time and she made it into the perfect combination of homey/welcoming atmosphere and top notch food. She was doing farm-to-table before that was a thing. I was mildly concerned when I read that the company that runs "Gather" in Jackson Hole, Wyoming bought this iconic restaurant, but as luck would have it, I actually ate at Gather in Jackson Hole a couple of years ago and it was one of the best meals I had there. So my husband and I decided to check it out, and it did not disappoint. The Maui onion soup is a standard as is the sashimi napoleon. Both were as good as I remember it. The sweetness of the Maui onions gives the soup a unique, yet familiar flavor. For entrees we had the blackened ahi with house-made udon noodles. It was a little sweet, but the spiciness added the necessary kick to even things out. I had the special fish which was hapu'upu'u which is a local seabass and is easily my current favorite fish and is hard to find. We will definitely be back.

    We had an excellent lunch with old friends on Saturday May 31.2025. Delicious food, a fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable server and a great atmosphere for eating and talking. We have enjoyed Hali’i Maile for more than 25 years!

    Sashimi Napoleon and the buttermilk chicken sandwich and the NA Mexicali beverage sums up what was on our table. The food is always amazing and our waiter was a delight. The dark horse of our lunch was my non alcohol Mexicali beverage from the bar. What Mexican Maui magic was that cocktail! We even got the bartender to come to our table to explain how she crafted such a delicious and refreshing masterpiece! We had such a great lunch experience!

    First time to eat at the General Store and it was delicious! The food was beautifully presented and the portions were just right. We shared the Scallops and crab cakes as well as a farmers market salad. Bothe were delicious! For entrees we had the Macadamia nut crusted Mahi Mahi and the pasta and Prawns. Both were very colorful and the flavor combinations complemented the seafood perfectly! Then topped dinner off with the chocolate mousse cake. Incredible dinner!
