Farm-to-table is not a new concept to us! Our restaurant has been promoting and featuring locally sourced produce, seafood, meats and products since 1988. Our dishes are a unique blend of fresh Hawaiian food, local Asian influences and modern preparations.

    I’ve eaten here several times for dinner & this was my first time having lunch here. The service was great as usual, ambience is always beautiful. I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich & it was absolutely delicious. They changed the lilikoi crème brûlée to a traditional style which is what I prefer. Another lovely experience!

    This is the third time maybe fourth time we have done thanksgiving buffet with you Under new ownership, seemed the selection was more limited than in the past. Meat entrees were fine. Dressing was good. Vegetables were limited to 1 choice. First time I was asked if we could eat within 1.5 hours. Understand why ok.

    It was incredibly nostalgic to go back to HGS after nearly 15 years. I appreciate the host finding a chair for my mom to wait in and the server at the end of the night that held the back door open for us. My mom has Parkinson’s and recent hip replacement and going out is incredibly hard, but she is leaving Maui after many decades, and she wanted a nice dinner w her grandson. Thank you for making that possible. I would love if if you could get more creative on the n/a beverage options. And find a better n/a beer than St Pauli Girl. Athletic Brewing is great. Also Giesen makes a wonderful de-alcoholonized wine. I’m not the only adult who would pay for those options when dining out. Check out Wilderton too. Dinner was good. Grandson loved the burger! The fish special was just “ok”. Too much going on on the plate. Raw red onions overpowered everything. Fish was dry. For $48 I expect a better treatment of the fish. Our server was really wonderful. Attentive and friendly. Atmosphere was perfect and we loved the corner table. Mom’s voice doesn’t carry well and so we could here her better. Thank you so much for the evening. I’ll be back and try something else on the menu.

    Just lovely. Our server was so attentive and even made suggestions that were spot on. We shared the Sashimi Napoleon and it was delicious. I really don’t like smoked salmon, but it was easy to put to the side. My husband had fish & chips and I had the fish sandwich all were delicious. We had the pineapple upside down cake for dessert and it was very tasty.

    We have been coming to Haliimaile General Store for many years. It used to be great, a can’t miss meal each time we visited Maui. This time the menu did not seem to have changed much from prior visits but the food’s taste was just so-so. The service was slow until the waiter wanted to rush us out as the end of the lunch hour arrived. I love the place and the drive to Hali’imaile but I wouldn’t be crushed if we skipped HGS next trip.

    We had a disappointing experience at a different restaurant a few nights ago, and the experience here was much, much better. Food was great, service was great and seamless. Could tell that the staff worked as a team. It was our (43rd, gulp!) anniversary, which I had noted when making the reservation, and they brought ice cream w/ a cookie. Very nice. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends.

    Though we’ve known about it forever, we’ve never been there before. We decided to try it today. Made a lunch reservation as I know it can get quite busy. We weee sat I. The back with only one other group. Zasha was our server. She was very warm and got us water and our drink order. A tai Mai, margarita and a glass of wine. Really great tasting cocktails. Had the Bao Buns to start. Delicious. Tender, flavorful and there were 3. Perfect for our group of three. We ordered the Poke bowl, fish and chips and the burger. All three were really good. The manager and other checked on us several times to make sure our food was good and d we had everything we needed. Not forgotten in the back for sure. We’ll be back for sure.

    Delicious food, great people, beautiful location. It’s well worth your time. Makawao is a really special place. We had the crab pizza…my husband didn’t want a bite, relented, then kept commenting on just how delicious that bite was! He had the braised pork belly bao, also delicious…made better by a slice of hot/not too hot pepper to cut the unctuousness of the pork belly. He had the Fish and Chips and was really happy with the mahi mahi. I had the chicken sandwich. Hmmm, I come from the Bay Area, we have the OG fried chicken sandwich at Bakesale Betty’s. This was, perhaps, better. I think they use a boneless skinless thigh and it’s outstanding. Go!

    as always our food was amazing.. i've never had a bad experience in the 30 yrs i've been coming to hailiemailie update i made a reservation for 9 of us and we were seated right away. we all had great service and food was great.. but the drinks were watered down and the sashimi napoleon and crab pizza were not up to previous owner bev's standards and the napoleon had red pepper flakes!!!

    Been there many times. This time for lunch. Beautiful spot. I love the dining room (art on the walls) and bar. Sat at the window which was great. Great cocktails. Food was average at best. My mistake for ordering the bbq pork sandwich. Based on our previous experiences, I expected it to be elevated, but it wasn’t. In fact it was a pretty poor sandwich. Pork was mush just soaked in a bbq sauce I can get off a grocery store shelf and the fries were the batter coated type that gave away its origins. It was definitely not cut and prepared in house… it came frozen, in a bag, for sure. I expect more from a Bev Gannon menu item. My wife’s Mac nut mahi was better but seemed like a tired preparation - fresh mahi on a bed of very basic/bland white rice covered in pineapple salsa. Very muted textures and tastes. No depth. Fish was fresh and well cooked though. All in all, nothing was awful but nothing was great either. I’m sure we’ll be back and hopefully the menu will be revamped with some creative and interesting dishes.

    We had 7 different entrees and every one of them was amazing! Love the bao buns appetizer and the curry dish was amazing!
