Fabulous food — impeccable service
Reunion with my college roommate. Recommended by several friends. Did not disappoint. Friendly host, amazing waiter, Phelix, (knowledgeable and personable) and outstanding food. Favorite dining experience during our stay.
Best meal we have ever had!! Service and food were exceptional.
The evening was a wonderful success. Was a birthday dinner and the restaurant was prepared with confetti and a special menu. The food was delicious. And the service was excellent
Great I don’t want to write bbb bbnnnxxcccccccccccccccccc
Dinner with my daughter !!
Our waiter Ryan C. Was very nice and his whole team was very attentive. They helped to make it a very nice night!
Our observation is everything will be good. We enjoyed the swordfish and salmon . Both dishes had great detail. The salads were made by someone who eats salad. The drinks were perfect. The decor, with multiple level seating was elegant. But, the service was even better.
Two details I enjoyed. Our server did not need to write any of our order down. He called us by name during the dinner, before I handed him the credit card.
GW Finns helped us have a great last day of vacation in New Orleans.
Service and decor was top-notch. The food was of high quality and served perfectly, but portions could be slightly larger. The staff was very polite, attentive, and went the extra step to make our celebration special. Location is just off Bourbon, so the walk to and from doesn't match the experience this restaurant is aiming for. Once inside, GW Fins provides an escape from reality with its great staff and delicious food. Thank you for a special evening.
How sad that the jewels are falling off the crown of this once spectacular restaurant.
I have dined with GW Fins at least a half dozen times over many years of visiting New Orleans. I always think of it as offering outstanding flavors and impeccable service. I'm afraid that was not our experience during the Sunday of the French Quarter Festival 2019.
We always start our meal with their 2 famous appetizers, the lobster dumplings and their sizzling oysters. Neither one of these brought back the memories I had cherished and both dishes left us wanting. We would also normally order their famous chocolate dessert when placing our appetizer order as it takes over 1/2 hour to make. Much to our disappointment the waiter informed us they no longer offer this signature dessert. Speaking of waiters, I was feeling guilty for dropping biscuit crumbs all over our table but kept thinking soon I'll see the waiter appear with one of those neat crumb tools to sweep them away. That never happened. Our waiter also, inexplicably, took away my wife's empty wine glass and never offered her another glass - which she would have happily ordered. I also ran out of water. Our entrees were good and we enjoyed their bread pudding for dessert, but walked out the door deciding to broadening our horizons and next time in New Orleans try another one of the city's world famous restaurants.
Food was delicious. Best seafood ever! Tuna was amazing.
Superb service and food!!!
Once again G.W. Fins provided a fabulous fine dining experience. Our waiter was very helpful in explaining the specials and suggesting options. The star of all our visits is the smoked oyster appetizer. 6 plump, perfectly "smoked" oysters sizzling are to die for. Our Sheepshead and Drum entres were perfectly cooked and served with appetizing side dishes. Service was attentive but not hovering. A totally enjoyable meal.
Wonderful find in New Orleans. Kind and attentive staff, great drinks and amazing food.
Awesome! Would definitely go back!
We had a wonderful evening celebrating birthdays. The table was decorated when we got there. Our server Tory was very knowledgable about the menu which came in handy because we had some food allergies. The food was delicious. A very memorable evening.
My best friend and I decided last minute to go eat before a play and we were VERY pleased. The service, food and atmosphere were all top notch! We even said we would have to bring our husbands next time.
GW Fins is the first restaurant that comes to mind when making a recommendation of great restaurants in New Orleans. Wonderful wine list, great menu (lobster ravioli is the best appetizer). Also, DO NOT pass up their White Chocolate Bread Pudding. Unlike any bread pudding that I've ever tasted before, this dessert is sublime!!!
Best place for fine dining/seafood in the city and lives up to all the hype. Nice service too. Waitstaff is kind and attentive/not stuffy.
Excellent service by Fallon. Incredible menu
The food was phenomenal. The service was phenomenal. Everything that was ordered was delicious.
Never miss a visit here every time I am in N.O. It’s simply the best
The Service could not been any better. Gary was incredible and was supported by numerous of his other colleagues. The food was outstanding and the biscuits are to die for... I preferred the Scalibut to either Tuna dishes.
Food was very good but check your bill. We were charged for a bottle of still water which we didn’t realize until bill arrived. Canny waiter! We were brought 2 items we didn’t order, and had a drink on our bill that wasn’t ours. Too busy to pay attention?
have eaten here many times for many years. Never disappoints! Great food and service. Can't go wrong!!!
Thank you Gary for the great service and thank you to all for the delicious experience.
Amazing food and service!
Nick provided the absolute best service and dining experience! Food was awesome and the service was outstanding! Thank you Nick! You made a special occasion even more special!
Absolutely delicious food! YUM! Staff was great! I'm going back!
The food, ambiance, service, everything was excellent as usual! Never disappoints! You get what you pay for!
We have been to G W many times over the years. What we love is the consistency. Service, ambiance, quality of food is always excellent. I had the blue fin tuna, seared perfectly. Crime brûlée for dessert is probably best I’ve had in years. Creamy smooth inside crisp crunchy top side. Others had the yellow fin tuna, halibut and shrimp and grits.
Incredible restuarant! A wonderful delight -Artful entrees and delectable desserts and service beyond comparison.
We love Fins and come here whenever we are in town, which is often. We were 3 people and made the reservation weeks before our arrival. It was a special occasion, a reunion with our son for my husband's 60th birthday. We arrived early and were told we would need to wait for our table to be ready, a few tables would be clearing soon. Given that it was a special occasion, I asked the hostess and then the head of the front (manager maybe) to seat us by a window or if there was a choice to provide us with a better table towards the front--we were willing to wait a little longer. We went to the bar, which did not seem to have enough bartenders. No one paid attention to the short older woman waiting to order, so I asked my husband to try to get someone's attention. We eventually after about 15 minutes were led to our table. Well, I was shocked to see they took us to an annex room that is horrible for lighting with NO windows or air and stuck us at a back table. The low ceilings and glare from the bright spotlight above our heads, was not okay. I went back to the hostess and explained that we could not stay there, and that we had specifically asked for a good table. (there had been other tables clearing as we were led to the annex). They were nice and moved us to a booth. Much better atmosphere. But it ruined the evening. My son and I argued, as he was embarrassed that I wanted to move and my husband was passive, and I was near tears wanting everything to go right since it was our only dinner together this trip and we had not seen our son in months. We had a nice meal after that, but I don't think anything was handled well by the front of the house. We may return, but we will have to be even more specific next time about our needs.
Excellent meal. 4 of us every dish wonderful
Considering its lofty reputation and equivalent prices, we were underwhelmed overall. Having arrived right on time for our 8:00 reservations, we were told they were running 10-15 minutes behind due to FQF. We waited in the busy bar and were well taken care of. When we were seated after 30 minutes, the manager offered to comp our drinks, which was appreciated.
We were seated at a very nice table in a raised area overlooking the packed and noisy dining room, and were pleasantly surprised to be presented with a personalized menu congratulating us on our anniversary. Our very pleasant server greeted us but took a long time to return for our drink order. Once those were brought, we placed our appetizer order, for which we also waited a long time. I was served a delicious warm and flaky biscuit and my wife (who is gluten-intolerant) was very pleased with a corn spoonbread while we waited (and waited) for our apps.
The barbecue shrimp with goat cheese grits were very tasty, although the shrimp seemed a bit mealy. The smoked salmon carpaccio was pleasant but very mild and forgettable. The Ponchatoula strawberry and candied walnut salad was delicious, mostly due to the very ripe berries. My wife's puppy drum (reminded her of snapper) was fine but nothing special. I tried their famous Scalibut (thinly-sliced scallops pressed into a halibut fillet). Though the halibut was nicely cooked and moist, the scallops were over-cooked and dry.
We ordered a rich chocolate bombe for dessert and were presented with two "baby" bombes on a separate anniversary plate decorated in chocolate and served with a candle - a nice touch.
Although we enjoyed our dinner, it certainly was not our #1 dining experience in NOLA as we had been expecting from the reviews, especially considering the price we paid for it.
GW Fins is my favorite restaurant in New Orleans! The food is fantastic! I’d highly recommend the tuna tacos and BBQ shrimp for appetizers! You can’t go wrong with any of the entrees! The bread pudding is delicious if you have room for dessert.
It was a great evening of drinking and dining. The swordfish was the best that I ever had. They paid attention to details. The wine suggestions, perfect.
Delicious food and beverages! Very accommodating as we added an extra person.
We’ve eaten at Fins twice, a year apart. Both Tim’s were exceptional
We had a great meal at GW Fins. We started with the Lobster Dumplings and Shrimp barbeque which were both excellent. I had the Scalbut which was superb.
Overall a tremendous meal.
Great food and service. The whole staff is very friendly and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant for girls night out!
