Food was amazing , best soft shell crab in New Orleans . Our server Ashley was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and wine selection. Will be going back soon .
I went with my bestie for her bday. And we have both been several times before. GW Fins is to me an absolute staple of New Orleans food and culture. This is a place where every time you go it’s better than the last. Our time was an abustle charm. Alexis was our server. She was incredible listened and delivered on every note. My friend remembered the back waiter from the night before (it’s her fave spot. Yeah she did two nights in a row) and he was so charming and kind. The absolute best atmosphere you can ask for happened today. Truly my favorite gem in the quarter. From the time you walk in and are greeted by the hosts till the moment you exist you will be made to feel like how I want people to feel when they visit New Orleans. The lobster dumplings are a must. And your server is the best at pairing your wines. If you haven’t been just go now.
Everything including the staff attention was first rate!!
Outstanding all around-top shelf!!
Fabulously fresh fish, interesting sides, and a cut above attention to detail. Deep Ford wakame over fresh poke, what a great idea! There is an army of attentive service staff. Make your reservation in advance!
25th Anniversary. Amazing dinner! Our favorite restaurant!
The food was excellent and the staff amazing. A must if in New Orleans
It was our 25th wedding anniversary. Turned out to be the finest dining experience we have ever had. The bartender and drinks, wait staff, and the food all exceeded our highest expectations. Our server, Alexis, was fabulous and even surprised us with a special anniversary treat.
This has to be the best seafood I have ever had. The Scalibut, their own creation, was melt in your mouth delicious. The aged swordfish steak was truly a marvel of seafood genius. The service by Kenny made our special occasion that much more special. I plan to return to work through the rest of the menu. Thank you for a memorable evening!
Disappointed. I gave it a full 48 hours after I came home from NOLA because of a personal rule to let things ride at least 48 hours when you get angered at a situation, 72 or more if you really get riled.
This one was 48. I stayed an extra day just to go to GWFin's because it has always been a favorite every time I've gone there. It was going to be a highlight.
I think it has gotten too busy and too popular. I think the labor crunch has also gotten to it, and it can't be the white sleeve high end destination place with an edge like it has been any more. It's like an expensive Bonefish Grill, hate to say it.
Nothing special about the cocktails, nothing special about the great tempura apps, except the sweet and sour sauce was too thick and overwhelming, and the signature scalibut was just creepy with the garish green and white sauce. Maybe it was the lighting.
But most disappointing was the service. We had gotten used to being a little pampered at our previous visits, but it really did seem like the servers had two or three tables too many to take care of. I am certain that is the problem, because in multiple trips to NOLA - we come down once or twice a year for great food, professionally made cocktails, and party and music - GWFins has been a highlight.
Trust me, they're going to be crazy busy, especially on weekends. Go early so you'll get better service from overworked servers. Me? I'm going to put them in the bullpen for a while.
Best seafood in New Orleans hands down.
Top 3 service I’ve received at a restaurant. I wish I remembered my servers name to give him props. Pork Belly was the top pork belly dish I’ve had. Great experience!!!
Paul and Terrell were exceptional staff who took care of our every need.
My wife enjoyed her birthday dinner. Thank you all for an exceptional dinner and
Fantastic Lobster Dumplings and Scallops were just as good or better.
Service from start to finish was impeccable.
It is as fantastic? The waiters and the food were stars ⭐️
We had a wonderful experience at GW Fins! The service was spot on- if only they had 10 biscuit boys to constantly replenish the biscuits and butter 😂 All the food was great, the poke, remoulade, beet salad, scalibut, most amazing was the fried chicken drum - OMG!! The malty salty caramel ice cream pie was the perfect end to our meal!
Kenny was AMAZING !!! Always SO nice interact with people who love their job! The food and drinking were fantastic!!!
The food was outstanding, staff was courteous and did a great job! I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great meal....
Everything was wonderful can't say enough about the service and food!
Food was not good
Anniversary dinner. Food, service and ambiance off the charts great!
One of the finest dinning experiences we've had, made even more special for our anniversary. The food was top notch and the service was perfect. I highly recommend
Our wait staff Outstanding!! Thanks to Fallon, made our trip!!
Food the best in years, thanks to the chief!
Great service, great food
I was overwhelmed with the wait staff and creative offerings. Everything was wonderful! We will definitely be coming back. The barbecue shrimp and the Scallibut were are favorites!
The food was exceptional. We enjoyed the swordfish with mashed potatoes. The lobster dumplings were phenomenal. Adam was an attentive and friendly server even providing recommendations for our time in the city. Only small compliant was there was one loud table that weren’t considerate of other guests.
First time to New Orleans. The food was amazing and the service (Adam) was great, everyone was very hospitable. Would definitely recommend for a nicer dining experience.
Outstanding food and service! And I got my cookbook signed by Chef Tenney!
An amazing experience from entry to departure. The staff seems to love what they do and the chef’s creative approach to each entree is exceptional. From Lionel sitting us down, to Ashley’s attention as our server, every attention to detail was spot on. A new New Orleans favorite for this couple.
Always wonderful food and service!
First day of vacation started out well with our dining experience at G W Fins wonderful food and the service was superb.
The food, especially the lobster dumplings and scalibut, were absolutely amazing and otherworldly.
Fallon (our server) was fantastic, as was her partner Omar, as well as the restaurant manager.
We will definitely be back during our next trip to New Orleans!
One of the best restaurants in New Orleans! Food and service are outstanding. They are so creative with their fish dishes. Great evening from start to finish!!
Awesome experience! Great service. Excellent food.
We had 2 wonderful entrees, prepared perfectly. 12 on a 10 scale! Our waitress, Ashley, was wonderful with suggestions and always seemed to be near, not interfering in any way. The dark and white chocolate bread pudding was incredible!
The only thing we found as a problem was the room noise…our reservation was at 8:45 and it didn’t begin to quiet down where we could somewhat comfortably converse until after 9:30…. At one point, I checked my phone’s DB meter…it was 85db!!! Ashley told us at the end of our meal that it was a bit noisier than normal that evening and that usually the sound absorption worked pretty well.
LOVED THE FOOD!!!
Service was excellent. Food was just OK. It lacked seasoning. By far the most expensive meal we had in New Orleans but not worth the price.
Food, service and drinks were great! Great place to celebrate a special occasion
Absolutely fabulous. Difficult to decide as all choices look amazing. We ordered lobster dumplings and tuna tartar, as starters. Drum, flounder and scalibut for entrees and Brule and pretzel caramel ice cream for dessert with Kentucky coffee. Everything was amazing. Highly recommend everything. Want to go back to try entire menu.
We were celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary and stayed two nights in the French Quarter. GW Finns was our first night and they set the bar pretty high!
We were seated on time for our 8:00PM reservation and they had decorated the table with a bit of confetti and printed a keepsake menu for us to take.
The bar is well stocked and we were able to order our favorites.
Our server was Paul, (tall Paul) and he was brilliant. He timed our dinner service perfectly and he and the rest of the staff were very attentive without being overbearing. We never waited or wanted for anything.
The food was amazing. For an appetizer we had the Lobster Dumplings. They were so tasty! A must try! My husband had the Scalibut, which was fresh and perfectly prepared. The pea shoot butter was delicious. I had the American Red Snapper with shrimp creole and crispy okra, again the fish was so fresh and cooked to perfection, the shrimp creole was very tasty but did not overpower the dish, it was delightful.
For desert we had the bread pudding, it was quite tasty.
Overall an excellent experience with obviously fresh seafood, prepared perfectly. We will be back!
