There was no sign on the door than said we needed to mask up before entering. It was our first night in NOLA and we hadn’t learned the city’s rules. The host at the front was rude and aggressive about us not having our mask on. The two females next to him were much more calm about it, taking time explaining the rules to me and getting me checked in. Once sat we had a great server and the food was excellent. I don’t eat fish but my husband said the redfish was delicious, it was so good, it didn’t actually need to be blackened. My chicken was good and I’m always impressed when a fish place does good land food. Wine menu is a little all over the place and the prices were lower than I expected, with most bottles under $100. Food Price wise, I’m from NYC so I thought they were extremely reasonable for the amount and quality of the food.

Delightful to be back at GW Fins for this dining experience! Food, service and atmosphere were all exceptional. Ronnie, Bi and team were pleasant, engaging, professional and very helpful. Even the vegetarian needs of one party member were well addressed. If we had only one meal in New Orleans, GW Fins would be our choice!!

Great dining experience! The lobster dumplings were FANTASTIC!! I had the sheepshead fish and my boyfriend had the chicken crackling drum fish - both great. Definitely a great higher end seafood restaurant. The dishes don’t scream “New Orleans”, but we have eaten in Boston, Philly, NYC, etc. and the quality is definitely on par with big city dining!

We go to GW Finn's every time we are in New Orleans. It has never disappointed. We send friends and family there, and they agree. This is truly the best of the city in all aspects. You can't go wrong with any menu item. The servers and staff are always on top of their game. Perfection.

I went with my bestie for her bday. And we have both been several times before. GW Fins is to me an absolute staple of New Orleans food and culture. This is a place where every time you go it’s better than the last. Our time was an abustle charm. Alexis was our server. She was incredible listened and delivered on every note. My friend remembered the back waiter from the night before (it’s her fave spot. Yeah she did two nights in a row) and he was so charming and kind. The absolute best atmosphere you can ask for happened today. Truly my favorite gem in the quarter. From the time you walk in and are greeted by the hosts till the moment you exist you will be made to feel like how I want people to feel when they visit New Orleans. The lobster dumplings are a must. And your server is the best at pairing your wines. If you haven’t been just go now.

Fabulously fresh fish, interesting sides, and a cut above attention to detail. Deep Ford wakame over fresh poke, what a great idea! There is an army of attentive service staff. Make your reservation in advance!

This has to be the best seafood I have ever had. The Scalibut, their own creation, was melt in your mouth delicious. The aged swordfish steak was truly a marvel of seafood genius. The service by Kenny made our special occasion that much more special. I plan to return to work through the rest of the menu. Thank you for a memorable evening!

It was our 25th wedding anniversary. Turned out to be the finest dining experience we have ever had. The bartender and drinks, wait staff, and the food all exceeded our highest expectations. Our server, Alexis,was fabulous and even surprised us with a special anniversary treat.

Disappointed. I gave it a full 48 hours after I came home from NOLA because of a personal rule to let things ride at least 48 hours when you get angered at a situation, 72 or more if you really get riled.

This one was 48. I stayed an extra day just to go to GWFin's because it has always been a favorite every time I've gone there. It was going to be a highlight.

I think it has gotten too busy and too popular. I think the labor crunch has also gotten to it, and it can't be the white sleeve high end destination place with an edge like it has been any more. It's like an expensive Bonefish Grill, hate to say it.

Nothing special about the cocktails, nothing special about the great tempura apps, except the sweet and sour sauce was too thick and overwhelming, and the signature scalibut was just creepy with the garish green and white sauce. Maybe it was the lighting.

But most disappointing was the service. We had gotten used to being a little pampered at our previous visits, but it really did seem like the servers had two or three tables too many to take care of. I am certain that is the problem, because in multiple trips to NOLA - we come down once or twice a year for great food, professionally made cocktails, and party and music - GWFins has been a highlight.

Trust me, they're going to be crazy busy, especially on weekends. Go early so you'll get better service from overworked servers. Me? I'm going to put them in the bullpen for a while.

Every detail of this place is perfect. The service, the food, the ambiance and the biscuit boys! The evening was percent. Fantastic booth overlooking the dining room. The lobster dumplings were HEAVEN!!!! The perfect chew and texture. I will dream of these. The biscuits don't stop, love that they are literally delivered fresh and hot directly from the oven. My main course was good not great. A bit of a let down but, the lobster dumplings are hard to compete with... .now the major let down .....out of bread pudding at 9pm on a Monday? But, lobster dumplings still saved the day along with our Server Rod. He suggested another option for desert it was good. I would for sure return and would be delighted.

We have returned to GW Fins every time we have visited New Orleans. Unfortunately this trip was disappointing. The service was not good. Our server was not friendly and would leave the table while we were trying to order. It was actually very awkward. The food was not as good as I’ve always remembered. We waited a very long time for a glass of wine and the sever didn’t check back or check in. Disappointed in our overall experience this visit.
