Our server was very knowledgeable and explained everything on the menu. We had the Salzburger Schnitzel and the Bauernschmaus along with the bread basket. Everything was fabulous. This is a great place to go for something different. Really enjoyed our visit.

Highest quality, locally-sourced ingredients, warm and cozy, and service with an attention to detail. My wife and I travel to Austria every year to see family, and this is as close as it gets to a visit to Vienna!

Our favorite restaurant in Kansas City. Sitting at high top table in bar area is always fun. Had the Wednesday Special: Pork cheeks. Added sweet and sour baked acorn squash, and a Munich beer on tap. (Mixed drinks are very good, just on the very small side for the price). Outstanding, hearty meal, especially in winter. Excellent service.

We had the Jagerschnitzel (spelling?) and Hungarian Ghoulash as entrees and both were excellent. We also had 2 "loaves" of bread (a pretzel which was very good and rosemary-olive which was excellent. The apple strudel is the best either of us have had and the "dessert special" a chocolate cake layer with a walnut layer and cream layers and rum-smoked raisins was outstanding. oUr server was Ricardo (sp?) who was very friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable for this level of food quality and taste and service.

We had a delightful birthday dinner for our 13 year old granddaughter! Server was very engaging and made her feel special. She helped her navigate the German menu with great explanations and suggestions. Food was delicious and memories were made!

We had the three course lunch meal. $22. Great deal. The salad was tart and tasty with goat cheese and bacon vinaigrette. The braised beef gulasch was delicious and had a mild kick. The schnitzel was juicy and flavorful. The apple strudel and the cheese strudel were the perfect finish to the meal. Beware the strong coffee. Two cups sent me into caffeine overload. I made the reservation via Open Table and noted that one member of the party was celebrating a birthday. There was no mention made of that by the hostess or server.

Disappointed that there was no Wiener schnitzel from veal, but I had a pork schnitzel, which was very good. Also missed out on the sauerbraten, but a good excuse to go back on a Saturday. Excellent experience overall.

My wife, myself and 2 friends of ours when here last night for dinner before a show. Our waiter, Anthony, was totally awesome. He knew the menu inside and out, he made recommendations, and he made our experience very exceptional. The atmosphere was great, tables were not all crammed in tight, plenty of space. The food, ah the food, this was great. No one went home hungry; we actually took a couple boxes home which I finished off once I got home. The food was very tasty, cooked perfectly, looked awesome. Then the desert, it was exceptional, creamy, smooth, very good. Yes, you will spend a little more than going a sports bar but you are getting what you are paying for- the total experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for dinner. I will be back.

Grunauer's puts a modern spin on traditional German Food. Each of our entrees were delicious combinations of flavors and plated beautifully. Our waiter was attentive and pleasant and the ambience was quiet and upscale. One of our favorite restaurants in KC!

A wonderful “dinner date” prior to an evening at The Kaufman. Incredible ambiance, unique, appetisers, wonderful, creative twists on traditional entrees , and a delightful daily dessert, special. Very attentive wait staff who made our experience memorable.

The bratwursts that we ordered were cold on the inside. Very unappealing. And our pretzel bread was almost inedible. Had been stored in some sort of warmer for way too long. Our expectations were not met. However, our server was amazing and brought us new (and cooked) bratwurst and fresh made pretzel bread. But he should not have had to make the kitchen crew re-make our entrees. Very disappointed!!

We're big foodies and eat out a lot - I'm not sure how we missed this place - have been to Jack Stack and Lidia's nearby many times, but first time here was a real treat. Super cool space/vibe and great food and service. Pulling this on the "must do again" list!
