Grünauer offers a classic Viennese gasthaus menu in the beautiful, historic Freighthouse. Located just north of Union Station in KC's premier dining and arts neighborhood- The Crossroads, Grünauer has been serving authentic Austrian and Central European cuisine since 2010 (with a focus on German and Hungarian as well). A beautiful biergarten, a gorgeous full bar and a lofted event space all add to the ambience and character of this KC classic. Make your reservation today! Classic dishes such as Hungarian beef gulasch (goulash), wiener schnitzel, apple strudel and more are always available. Frequent seasonal changes to our menu allow us to incorporate local produce, hiqh quality proteins and other items that are not available year round.

      Great experience. Our server, Chelsea explained the menu, and gave us great recommendations. We never felt rushed. Food and beer were exceptional. I also felt that price was very reasonable. Look forward to coming back.

      The best alcohol-free menu I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant. Highly recommend the NA sparkling wine! Our server was incredible, and the food couldn’t have been better. We did the bread basket with quark cheese and Austrian butter, chicken schnitzel, and apple streudel. All wonderful. Only reason for four stars and not five is that I was in the women’s bathroom after our meal and a server used the toilet, flushed, and walked out of the bathroom w/o washing her hands (not our server). GROSS!

      Grünauer is a great spot whether you want a delicious dinner in their dining room or cocktails on their garden patio. I am gluten sensitive and they had a separate gluten free menu that was full of options. Everything we ordered was absolutely amazing and flavorful. I love that I didn’t feel like I had to miss out of their cuisine due to my diet restrictions. We can’t wait to return!

      A phenomenal dining experience from start to finish. The customer service was attentive and gracious, making us feel truly welcomed. Every course, from the exquisitely prepared entrées to the flavorful sides and indulgent desserts, was executed to perfection. A must-visit culinary gem in Kansas City!

      Absolutely love this place. Food is expertly prepared, with generous portions. Just very different and delicious menu. Desserts are excellent as well. A real gem in Kansas City

      We came on a Monday evening as we wanted the nightly special (jägerschnitzel). They were out. It wasn't like it was late either (7:30 reservations). And it wasn't the first time this had happened to us at Grünauer. This time we just left. On a related note, Lidia’s next door was really good that night.
