Grünauer offers a classic Viennese gasthaus menu in the beautiful, historic Freighthouse. Located just north of Union Station in KC's premier dining and arts neighborhood- The Crossroads, Grünauer has been serving authentic Austrian and Central European cuisine since 2010 (with a focus on German and Hungarian as well). A beautiful biergarten, a gorgeous full bar and a lofted event space all add to the ambience and character of this KC classic. Make your reservation today! Classic dishes such as Hungarian beef gulasch (goulash), wiener schnitzel, apple strudel and more are always available. Frequent seasonal changes to our menu allow us to incorporate local produce, hiqh quality proteins and other items that are not available year round.

      We went with friends who had not been there before and our server, AJ, did a fantastic job of explaining every item on the menu to them. He made some suggestions that were taken and he was correct with all of them. Our friends were so happy with diner that they cannot wait to go back. I would say that if you are unsure of what to order, please ask your server who will be glad to assist and explain the menu.

      Sorry I don't remember our waitress's name but she was fabulous. We always enjoy going to restaurant. Try to go at least once a month. It is my husband's favorite restaurant.

      Highly recommend this place. May be little high in price but the amount of food you get is enough for two meals. Can not find any fault with this place. Food, service,beer were all fantastic

      We found the traditional goulash a bit spicy. The cheese strudel with thick cream was delicious. Overall it was a very pleasant dining experience.
