GAZETTE was originally born in Battersea in 2007 and had a gentle expansion with the opening of the Putney branch. GAZETTE is described by owners Pascal Even and Walter Lecocq as a rural style of French brasserie, one you’d find in Provincial areas of France.
Both want it to reflect the spirit of local French cafés and offer a cuisine that is simple, generous and vivacious, with lots of daily specials and on-going food events, and where transpires the warmth and cordiality of true French cuisine.

Christmas lunch was disappointing . Very restricted choice and unexciting food. There was a good atmosphere and the staff were nice.

Relaxed atmosphere, nice food at a sensible price. I felt relaxed enjoyed my lunch with a friend whilst my 2 year old also enjoyed herself eating, colouring and lying on the sofas!

I have been coming to Gazette for a number of years and it never disappoints. The seasonal chestnut soup was excellent as was the duck. Easily my favourite restaurant in Battersea!

We’ve been waiting 10 min before someone came to seat us. They gave us a table, served some water, and after asked us to move to another table because this one was for someone else. Not very nice start We ordered and after a very long wait the waiter bring us the wrong starter (hot foie gras). I told him this was not what I ordered (cold foie gras) but he kept saying yes it is. One of us ate it anyway. After we’ve been waiting for more that 50min the main course, we ordered the meat well cooked, and arrived rare. To finish, on the bill the service charged is more than 12%. Shame Too expensive for the quality of the food and service

We have been to la Gazette on a number of occasions, and the service is usually excellent. This visit was not very good, the wrong starter arrived although they did replace it, and the Foie Gras we ordered was delicious when it came. The Chateaubriand for main course was tough and was returned. The Moules for 2 party members were delicious. Think it was an off day and the waiter seemed very occupied on other things, The Bill was reduced accordingly, however would still go again.

Walking in we like style and atmosphere and this meant looked forward to food. Tried hard to be French authentic but missed the mark. Onion soup without bread or croutons. Fish soup fine but side Dijon sauce was just not right (close to nasty) We learnt from waiter that they serve wild hunted duck and this is why it is tough, I’d say very tough. (Almost impossible to cut) Chicken was fine but wish I selected the roasted cod as others dinners said it was excellent. Carafe of wine was good value and to be fair we were given a creme brûlée to share but creme was not as I would have expected in France.. Will try here again but without any great expectations, however if they sharpen up on detail it might be really very enjoyable.
