My experience is unique in that I have Celiac Disease, which is a gluten allergy, so I rarely get to eat out due to the likelihood of getting sick from cross contamination in the kitchen. Well not at Gannon’s. First of all the food was amazing, the service excellent, and our table had the most beautiful view. I had called ahead and gotten assurances that they had gluten free items and that they were careful with cross contamination in the kitchen, but you never really know till you get there. The waiter Jessie knew exactly what celiac was and talked directly to the chef regarding what was safe for us to eat. We settled on a delicious fish dish, my wife is also celiac, and it was amazing. I’m writing this the next day after eating at Gannon’s and I’m happy to report we are not sick. Success! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, but if you have celiac I can safely say this is a safe spot to eat. As always tell your server to tell the chef you’re celiac so they prepare the food separately from gluten items in the kitchen.
First time back since 2019. Was disappointed that happy hour has been severely shortened (used to be until 7 pm) but with reduced occupancy and staff, it’s understandable. Cocktails were terrific and the cashew crusted Opa and spare ribs were outstanding. Cannot beat the view either! It was great to be back!
4 guests....we all ordered the cashew crusted Opah. Dinners arrived barely luke warm. I will not complain as I know things are difficult during these trying times, but this not meet the "Bev Gannon" standard that we have experienced many times in the past. Will we be back.....of course.
Good time was had by all
“ Road to Hana “ beverage was the only negative
Staff was friendly, helpful and provided the right amount of attention. Food was fresh, served properly and excellent flavor and portioned.
So amazing we went two nights in a row!
Delicious food, romantic atmosphere and beautiful view of the ocean!
Extremely disappointed, this was a dinner reservation and celebration for our newlywed children and our engagement. A special request was made to Gannon’s to see the sunset as “this was the place to catch it”! Unfortunately, we checked in 4 minutes early and were told we would not be seated till our dinner reservation time precisely at 5:45pm. We were welcomed to sit in either the bar area or foyer till we could be seated. We sat for a bit in the foyer and when the newlyweds arrived sat directly beyond the hostess stand for a cocktail (which was over priced $75.00 for 4 drinks not even top shelf)! They never came to get us at 6:15 I had to hustle through the bar area to catch a photo of the setting sun which interferes with other customers trying to take photos or more importantly enjoy their meal. I waited over a week for this special occasion and moment. I returned to the bar area to find out that our party could now be seated; however, was told one of us needed to settle the tab! What kind of fine dining establishment doesn’t close the bar tab out by putting it on the dinner receipt? Or have the wait staff handle it? Regardless, the hostess said she was confused and didn’t know we checked in when she and another waiter told us where to wait to be seated! Not to even mention that the we were billed on our credit card a charge for our meal and another that was 10 times the amount specified for the tip, yes 10 times the amount for the tip! It took multiple calls to the restaurant to straighten it out as it was clearly our waitresses mistake. At least we received an apology for the credit card mistake. Overall, the food was mediocre at best and we would have been better doing tapas and cocktails on the beach!
The food was very good, service was excellent. Great location to see the Sunset.
Wonderful food, perfect place to enjoy the sunset during dinner. The braised short ribs were perfectly cooked.
Great food, fantastic service! Highly recommend!
I don’t often write reviews but felt like I needed to share. We enjoyed the ambiance as well as the view but both my husband and me got extremely ill from the food. We will not be returning.
Was absolutely amazing! Vince and Chris are the best! From the great service, delicious food and amazing view was the best dinner in years! Try the duck!
Great experience and wonderful staff. Janie was our waitress and she was awesome!
Great food, great service, employees working together. Great views. Would have liked a better dessert menu but the meal was outstanding.
Had heard great things about Gannon’s and we had to try it out. The evening was wonderful, everyone was very friendly, and the food was exceptional. Highly recommend the New York Strip, sooooooo delicious.
The food was okay. The dessert was great. Service was EXCELLENT
We arrived a little early for dinner and waited for a seat at the bar to have a drink. The bartender acknowledged us but it took 10 minutes to get our cocktail. He apologized, as he was doing his best. The hostess came over to tell us our table was ready, but we were the wrong party. We were seated at 6:40 for a 6:15 reservation. As the hostess was walking us to our table he commented “this table is the best I can do”. Our table was completely in the dark. When our waiter arrived he moved the umbrellas so we could see our menus. I had oysters which were excellent and my husband had a Caesar salad. My entree was a flatbread which was good and my husband ordered a NY steak medium well. It was raw in the middle so he sent it back. The second steak arrived in the same “rare” state. My husband told our waiter to just forget his entree and asked for our check. The waiter offered a free dessert but we declined. On our way out we spoke to the manager and relayed our experience and his comment was “did he offer you another entree”? No he did not and then the manager went on to say how hard it is to get help which had nothing to do with the food. DO NOT waste your money at this place!!
One of our favourite Happy Hours for the food( although they need to bring back calamari), service and stunning views!
When we arrived the host barely greeted us, then directed a woman to sit us at “table 35” which she raised her eyebrows at. I asked in my reservation and when we arrived for a great view of the sunset. Table 35 was hidden away from any views, when there were two tables open with great views. I asked her if we could sit there and she said “absolutely, I was hoping you would ask”.
Then the waitress didn’t tell us about specials and didn’t pay much attention to us, but then told other tables about the specials. I’m not sure why we were treated like second class citizens. I won’t be returning. I’ll take my money back to Morimoto where we had an incredible time.
Excellent cuisine and atmosphere. A friendly waitress but grumpy hostess.
Great food, spectacular drinks, awesome service!
Wow! Definitely go for happy hour- draft beer $5, great happy hour food, we had Poki bowl an Shrimp cocktail. We stayed for an awesome sunset!
Never having been here before, it was a very impressive drive up the hill, then entering the massive entry was (almost) overwhelming! Upon reception we were whisked to what could be considered the best table in the house… service was impeccable, dishes were thoughtful, flavorful, and original. We can’t wait to return! Mahalo!!!
The food was average for the price. The service was very good and we were treated well by the servers and bartenders.
This is our favorite restaurant on Maui. We have been here many times and always had a great meal. The setting is lovely and the food is delicious. Our waiter Jessie was excellent. It was truly a special dinner for our last night in paradise!
Food was very well prepared and presented. The service was excellent.
Gannon’s was excellent as expected. Perfect ocean view and company.
Anniversary dinner. Table on the deck right at sunset.
Kampachi was awesome… I asked to have it grilled and it was delicious. The signature mai tai was great
The food was good but when seated towards the back, it’s very lonely and not much to view. We know it’s hard to manage during these times but the back tables are isolated and not exactly a way we would have chosen to celebrate our 20th.
Gannon’s used to be our favorite restaurant after coming to Maui for many years we were very disappointed this last time we thought the food was fair and the experience was just OK
Excellent service, good food and nice ambiance. Would visit again.
Wonderful patio seating and great service!!
Food was fantastic, service was great, ambiance was beautiful, cheryl was very helpful.. best dinner of our trup
the food was ok, I don't think that cellar temperature is the right call for champagne and dry white wine is when it is 85 degrees. I understand that very cold wine will decrease the taste of wine.
Best restaurant in maui!!!! Never disappoints & service is fantastic
We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Gannon’s on this past Thursday evening. While we didn’t make it in for sunset, we sat inside (which really still allows you to experience the wonderful breeze and ambiance of being outdoors with the open door concept). From the second we walked in, the staff, including the hostess were so warm and friendly. We enjoyed the food - filling and predictable based on what we ordered: salad, flatbread, and a burger. Our server was fantastic! He was attentive but also gave us our space. We were able to glean some insight from him on how we should spend our time when exploring Haleakalā and upcountry Maui.
Book your reservation here! You won’t be disappointed! We are hoping to make it in once more before our honeymoon ends :).
Aloha and thank you for sharing your experience with us here at Gannon's. Its always an absolute delight to receive high regard! Mahalo and A hui hou!
Limited menu that only included three seafood entree, was down to two as the Crusted Ahi was sold out. Turned out OK, as the fish with lemon curry was excellent. The fish was Campesche from Mexico -guess they couldn't get enough fish from local water fishermen.
Aloha, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We all were rather disappointed that our Ahi vendor couldn't supply us for the day, shortages on many items are all too common out here on the islands right now. However, the cashew crusted catch we were serving was fresh, local caught kanpachi. Again thank you for the review! Gannon's Ohana
